Remember our own advice. If something in here looks too good to be true, it probably is. How likely is it that Dany takes one look at the walls and figures something out that Listy searched months for?

He wants the name from us.

And even if it's not Listy, this might be the first trial of Lyas test. Check if the guy is smart enough to know that he doesn't know everything.

Trying this is a quest failure at best and a TPK at worst.

But that may be because I don't know exactly what all those domains cover in dnd so I m going of what I can draw from the words themselves.

but I want to be wrong so so wrong I want a god on our side and god that's not trying to trick us and who we are not just trying to get away from.

I don't think we need to worry for two reasons.
1. The colors are completely different. Ydersius is red and green, Yss is red and black.
2. The Archons would have sensed if Yss was in any way evil.

I don't want to deal with the dracolich. That is just going to be a load of bullshit and hassle and will lead to probably 200 thread pages of debate on what to do with it. Let's close the gate and destroy its phylactery. The dracolich might have even been a good dragon once, but being transformed into an undead abomination against its will won't have been good for its disposition and millennia of imprisonment has probably eroded what remained of its sanity.

And more likely than not, it was a Red, which means its just a massive CE tool and will view us as little more than food, slaves, or food with delusions of slavehood.

It isn't and you are blatantly dodging the point I'm making.

All if the reasons you have for talking to the thing can be covered by talking to him after the gate is closed. If you are right, we just push back that discussion by not doing it now.
If we do it and I'm right, we all die. Messily.

That's like placing a full access terminal to a nuclear power plant in the foyer.
 
Ydersius could easily be an ancient incarnation of Yss; gods can change depending on their worshipers and Ydersius spent over 11,000 years as a largely powerless skull trapped in the Darklands of Golarion. There's no telling how much additional time has passed since then to bring us to present day Planetos. Ydersius' skull could have been rejoined with his body, his power restored for another 12 millennia, before being cast down once more. If his own words of change upon rebirth are true, Yss could be the result of multiple subtle alignment shifts through different incarnations.

Just a thought.

mmm, i suspect this could be a setup to make us give them the name, but the knowledge check would make it difficult for the trap to work, so ,i dont know, im still a bit paranoid about the betrayal.

I'm perfectly fine with talking to him afterwards. Not so much with these releasing him ideas, but that's something we can squabble over later.

On the matter of the DC being hard:
Cast Divine Insight with CL 5 -> +10 on the next skill check
Study the inscription carefully -> Take 20
30 vs DC 30 -> pass
No ranks in Arcana required.

If this was legit, Listy would have to be a braindead muppet that makes the Hala look competent in comparison to not have figured this out in the months he had to decipher it.

Where is Listie getting the Divine Insight from? Abraxas?
And the DC might have something to do with Dany having gotten kind of personal tutelage from grandma, and her draconic memories.
