I mean some of the old wok near the Red Keep is actually perfectly usable for the volume it gets, but yeah there is a limit in most parts of the city. Adding water purification rings will likely make the Blackwater less... er black.

I still find it hilarious that the entire region is considered a toxic wasteland by all our aquatic citizens. For good reason. :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

If the Merling King wants a nice chunk of worshipers he could always proactively purify the bay, just saying... :whistle:

He is not really that kind of water god, the salty depths are his where life fails and darkness kin to death dwells in cold silence. Things he purifies tend to not be alive anymore

Two things:
  • When did this happen? I don't recall her doing anything of the sort.
  • IIRC she did have some sort of emissary-related position, but she probably wasn't expecting the sort of attention she'll be getting after we say this :D

I think of the Yi Tish debacle, Pol Ning was the one who did her best to make sure it didn't end a disaster of epic proportions. I'm not sure Hua Fen actually did anything beyond being worried next to Azema in the wings of the court.

She tried to warn the ambassador from Yin that his chosen tact he was taking... was going to go poorly. They did apparently interact, and he let slip enough of what their game plan was that she was like "WTF?!" but was promptly ignored and dismissed as compromised or incompetent. @DragonParadox would have to clarify, however.

She did not know how bad it was, more that she thought their attitude would not serve them well and they ignored her.

At this point, it harms no one to make our recommended diplomatic appointment look competent, and the ones from the Eunuchs look incompetent. This is an excuse for Bu Gai to get rid of some of the bottom scum in his court and clear the way for some actually effective personnel.

He just can't do that without some excuse. This was a huge gold plated excuse.

Viserys is basically going: "Dude your diplomats are incompetent, here's an excuse to purge some of them because that was just embarasing."
Only more politely and with deniability.

Definitely getting executed when they go home. Short of declaring war on the spot or attacking the delegation of the Orange Court in Trader Town I'm not sure of a worse way they could have handled themselves. I can only imagine how pissed off Bu Gai is that this is the first impression the Imperium has of the Azure Court in Yin.

Either not happy, or VERY happy, as this was his own plan to roll out Purge Stage Two: Electric Boogaloo, to bookend the purge he already did post-assassination attempt.
 
I'm really torn on how to go on with the system.

On the one hand, I could just have each province produce an amount of points and capacity, slap some buildings on it, and call it a day.
Or I start modelling population and trade in detail, resulting in vastly more complex system that organ-...

Yeah... the first one... Typing it out helped.

Edit: It's not that I dismissed the more intricate system entirely. It's just that I realize that it would be too much to open that can of worms when I have a deadline approaching.

I've got to doubt he did it on purpose. Even if Bu Gai wanted the excuse to clear house, and I'm sure he does, I really don't think he'd do it at the expense of his court's relationship with Viserys and the Imperium. The way we annihilated the Golden Company would have made everyone east of the Bone Mountains at least peripherally aware of our martial strength.

Maybe Bu Gai set them up to fail only slightly, and they tragically exceeded his expectations?
 
I'm kind of surprised they actually tried to delay the meeting. It seems both childish and exactly the sort of thing to tweak the tail of a dragon they just pissed off.

Perfectly IC, though. It's like a child trying to run away from the consequences of breaking something in the house. Adults know just having the tough conversation and getting it out of the way is cleaner, but the child is too blinded by fear and anxiety to think straight.
