You confirmed that you had the Praetori cherry tap her with a bolt to make it sensible that she was captured and immediately thereafter noted that just because we let her live, we don't have to see her all that much. It's pretty obvious you want to keep her alive no matter what.

I do remember Lucan, you know?

I also remember how futile and frustrating it is to argue for something when you got a horse in the race, so I'm resigned to recruit her, but that doesn't mean the GM NPC status annoyes me any less.

Just do it. I don't want to waste more time on this.
Not gonna lie, the "but I used a Praetori so you didn't have to have her killed!" can be read as DP holding onto the character.
But, like, he always does that. I am rather used to this.

What is worse is that her being alive spurs up almost as much salt as Lucan ever did.
And DP seems to not notice that the core of the argument is in the Suspension of Disblief, and how her being recruitable just does not compute.
We've been at this for years.
Just let her, and the argument, die.
why not take a small portion of her shadow(not enough to cause level drain) as insurance , the shadow as part of her soul would act a focus both to divine her or if necessary curse her and it would be beyond any possible form of protection including mindblank since we are using a part of her soul to do it . we have the Orphan court of shadow fey so the knowledge and expertise needed is present
Uh, dude?
Would you take kindly to a large part of your personality, memories, and ability being ripped away, and used as damocles' sword hanging over your head?
This is the most stupid path we can take, we'll be making her even more predisposed to hating us.

It'd be a reliable way to keep her in check, but slicing off a piece of her soul is guaranteed to spawn even more bad blood between us. Imagine if Viserys lost to, say, Asmodeus. And Asmodeus let him live and recruited him, with the caveat that Viserys had to surrender a piece of his soul to ensure that he'd never work against Asmodeus.

Viserys would be pissed as hell, and would immediately start trying to figure out how to stab Asmodeus in the back. I'd expect little else from Lanna.

that was an idea for a let her live her life in peace situation not for recruitment

Oh for the love of Tiamat....

I had the Preatorian tap her because I could see her HP it was easier to roll and I was just done a ridiculous amounts of rolls all over the damn keep.

This is starting to give me a legitimate headache. In the interest of not doing or saying something I will regret over a character I could not give less of a damn about I will now go back and kill her. I hope this is the last retcon I have to do in this arc.

Please don't. This is ridiculous.

I want a REAL explanation, with notes and details, and also, that is loot in itself you are taking away since she has lore and knowledge we'd want regardless of our decision.

Yes. This is what shatters my SoD every time.

There is this clean and stark line draw between "I dislike / hate this character, so go ahead and murder him" and the other group of "I like this character and nothing bad should happen to them".

We are allowed to murder as many of the former as we want, but the firmer someone is in the latter category, the more acting against them becomes like pulling teeth.

You know, if there is one thing that I really hate about this threat it's that bitterness and hardened fronts that comes with the years and repeated discussions about things have already come up.

I bet more than half the regulars have already made up their minds on wether she should die or be recruited, and that about 2 IC and OOC years ago. Me too, I mean I try to look at things in the light of the current situation, but I can't avoid looking more for arguments to leave her alive than to kill her.

Add to that accusations at DP for keeping her alive or calls to let her die without having to make the decision ourselves and it all just leaves a damn bad taste in my mouth.

Edit: And a retcon because DP as usual can't stand a bit of salt and caves to the path of least resistance.
I'm out.

Please don't do that, DP. We can kill her ourselves, if the situation calls for it. If not, we'll figure it out. No need for a retcon here.

Could you not? Avoiding this is precisely why I didn't press the point yesterday.

NOOOOO!
Seriously don't need retcons... no need at all!
