When I read strategic action updates, I always think about how nice it is to improve things.

Here's Alinor's updated character sheet, which includes her new level up, miscellaneous stuff from the Armory (along with an Amulet and Circlet we commissioned for her a while back) and the items I've added to the crafting schedule for her next month.

All in all, it's a massive increase in her abilities. She's as geared up as one of the Companions, but it's almost entirely focused on making her better at her job of running the Imperium behind the scenes rather than killing monsters for fun and profit.

Let me know if ya'll see any issues before I PM it to DP.

Goddamn, those socials with the buffs thrown in.

Amazing what the power of money can do to make you popular. :V

... so is Alinor technically the highest ranking member of her entire social class as defined in the imperial constitution? More importantly, has anyone pointed that out to her? She's used to having access to power through her job, but she so rarely seems to interact with people outside of her official position or close friend group that it might not have really sunk in yet.

It'd be kind of great if she didn't clue in until after the bureaucrats started forming a collective social identity that she becomes default pope of. :V
Pope Alinor I of the Imperial Faith (Bureaucratic Schism)

Can someone remind me what we did with the divine power we stole from Tiamat?
Most of it should still be stored in the well of eternity but we used some of the power to look up where Lizzirth escaped to, which ended up being under the protection of the Great Sultan of the Efreeti.
I was under the impression the Well was only a conduit to bleed Tiamat of that power, not an actual storage device which we had yet to utilize. Either way, the Imperial Gods took their fair share. And we've got a hell of a corpse to turn into either armor or a cloak for Dany.

I meant to run this by ya'll last night and mention it to @DragonParadox, but I was sleepy.

One of the items I have scheduled for Alinor next month is this:
Mantle of the Administrator:
There are several quality of life convenience type spells on the Mantle, along with a couple social buffs, but what I wanted to mention specifically are the Instant Portrait and Enter Image spells. The thought was that Alinor could print small pictures of herself, likely on paper or parchment, which could then then be distributed throughout the offices where her staff works. There wouldn't be any aspect of vanity or self-aggrandizement to these pictures. They could be subdued and understated, or perhaps each picture could even be a customized image of Alinor alongside whoever's office or workspace the paper occupies.

She could then use Enter Image to switch her POV to any of those pictures within a 250 radius of her own location, likely her office. Although she could use this to spy on her staff to make sure they aren't slacking off, the intended purpose is to make it easier for her to communicate with them and coordinate their efforts on a day to day basis.

Does this seem like something Alinor might use often enough to justify including it in her equipment? If not, I can remove them or swap in something different.

I'm not so big a fan of the idea. Since the communication can't be established both ways, it will likely perceived as Alinor doing seagull management whenever she uses it, which is bad for office culture.

I'd rather spend that money to install a bunch of communicators in her offices serve as intercom. Mind. We should install those in the entire Imperial Palace while we are at it.

Edit: Also, I'm not sure if a mantle is really practical. It would be a bit pompous for an office job. Maybe earrings, an amulet, bracelets or something similar?

That was some of my concern for the Instant Portrait + Enter Image combo, too. Alinor would be able to speak through the portrait and converse with her staff, but only if she initiated the exchange.

It can definitely be a different item, but our choices are limited due to item slots being occupied. Maybe a sash of office which would also occupy the shoulder/cloak slot? Worst case, we make it a rod instead, which will increase the cost, though this could be mitigated somewhat by removing Instant Portrait and Enter Image.

I think a sash is a good compromise.

Which brings up the interesting question if Alinor is wearing a smart dress or if she is setting a trend for wearing pants.

Maybe a robe?
Despite not being a mage, having a lot of pockets for items and utensils is nice for any non-melee character, even one never expected to fight.

Edit: Its propably a trend in SD anyway.

Problem is that "robe" is an extremely vague term, that can mean anything from an overcoat to a full-length gown.

What I could see would be a general pants + simple doublet + overcoat combination being popular.

She's got a suit of Glammered Djezet Skin armor now, a Ribbon of Disguise, and a Greater Ribbon of Disguise, so I imagine she could pull off any look she wants and be comfortable doing it. Not sure what she would prefer for her professional appearance to actually be, though.

That would be a neat bit of cultural fluff to work out; what is considered appropriate professional attire for a woman of Alinor's standing? Considering that she's in the unique position to be a trendsetter throughout the Imperial Bureaucracy and the empire at large, this would be good to know, @DragonParadox.

Whatever it ends up being, comfortable and sensible shoes should be a requirement.

She's got a Belt of Many Pockets for all her pocket needs.

Women as professionals outside of a few Free Cities probably isn't standardized in any way. And it's probably different between them.

At this point, whatever trends Alinor sets will have started with her.

This could work fine yeah.

Odd question, do you guys want me to do a general fashion info post (both emerging and traditional)?
