And/or create an office of information, a place you can ask about >>stuff<< before committing faux pax'.
Hm.
Hmmm.

@Duesal, @everyone else, how'd you think, have we reached a point at which we should sell/share the Xor's book to/with various Outsiders?
Contents: Being a collection of eclectic subjects, from music and poetry to history and even anatomy, the reader might be forgiven for not grasping the point it is reaching towards at first, but by the time one turns the final page the tome's purpose becomes clear. It is nothing more or less than an introduction to the study and understanding of the human condition. It makes no claim for holding any true answers, or great and definitive insights, but rather it tries to offer new perspectives on the matter from which the reader may then construct his own conclusions. This final openness of vision bespeaks of openness and generosity of spirit no less than the many examples peppered throughout the text.

An immortal being with little or no understanding of human society reading this book over a period of one week gains +2 competence bonus to Diplomacy, Bluff and Sense Motive rolls regarding mortals. Any reader can make untrained knowledge rolls relating to the cultures of Western Essos and Westeros up to a DC of 15 (rather than the usual 10).
We didn't do that 3(?) months ago because it wasn't a very good idea to give Shaitan/Djinn something to better rip off mortals then...
But at this point, the point is moot, isn't it?

Say, Erynies and other beings in our service should get free copy, while Shaitan and Djinn... well, we can make a neat small profit if we start selling it in their cities.

That's kinda how my updated plan works now.

One joins immediately, then another every four months, with the King also joining after a year. That staggers their full integration to almost three years.
...shall we maybe simply specify that "Fey Lords and Fey in general should try to not make power-blocks within the Inquisition, and should in fact strive to keep it a monolithic structure" to our deal?
Or am I misreading stuff, and he's perfectly aware of the fact that such will happen and tries to push for that?

She'll only ever be able to learn one more Draconic power word. I can add Faestir to the list of those available when I get home. Gotta admit that it won't be the one I would support her learning, though.

Maybe we can add a similar effect to the Voice Overwhelming capstone power, replacing the caster level and DC bonus, but only for language-dependent spells, Draconic words, and Power Word spells?
That's great.

She has (obviously) lots of Powerwords and some of her language-dependend Spells, like Insidious Suggestion or Demanding Message are really great.
Particularly on someone who thinks himself immune to Suggestions.

@egoo
They shall certainly try to consolidate power and.. we cannot really stop that without dipping into discrimination. Because they will indeed know better, see further and be able to strike harder.

Not necessarily a bad thing, but such will lead to segregation, Fey branches and not.

I'd suggest that instead of accepting the retinues wholesale, seed them through the mortals. Some mischievous gremlins for spying, bloody-minded Lords in the frontlines and so on. We do not want purely Fey retinues acting on story instead of saner things like efficiency.

Accept everyone immediately, but for the particular amount of time @Goldfish wants, they cannot ascend through the ranks - gives people time to understand and potentially compete with such once the 'experience' gap closes a tad.

Sometime ago someone posted a spell(?) that makes undead vulnerable to mind-affecting. Would that synergize?

Might be late, but do we really want them Incorporated in mortal government? Sure they'll swear oaths but all concerns about the High garden situation apply here in a long enough timeframe.

Interlude CDXCIX: Thorns and Trickery
Thorns and Trickery

Twenty-Eight Day of the Ninth Month 293 AC

Hiding out in the bushes at nighttime while the Dornish witch next to him aimed the Myrish Spyglass at light flickering in the keep's library window was far from the worst job Sandor Clegane ever had, nor hardly the strangest after where he spent yesterday. 'There's a whole world made of fire, but we've got magic to make sure you won't burn. Now go kill shit.' It had been... something. The Hound wasn't sure what to call it, so he figured that while he chewed on on the answer he might as well do something useful, which of course brought him back to crouching the in the bushes. He could have just stood up like the girl did of course, trusting in the magic to keep her hidden, but Sandor knew there were spells to see through that, so he hid himself properly all the better to drive a sword through the gut of any guard unlucky enough to stumble over them with that sort of magic.

"There he is," the sorceress whispered before beginning to mutter and flap her hands in a way Sandor had come to recognize as spell-casting, the better to get into the Lannister wizard's head.

"Fuck!" the curse cut through the air. "He beat off the spell..."

"So do we kill 'em now?" Sandor was not looking forward to killing the pair of Golden Shields. He remembered some of them being alright, just folk who got thrown in head first in witchery because some rock thing said so, but they knew the risks going in and they sure as shit got more out of it than some poor bastard that got thrown a spear and marched off to fight however they could.

"No, that would do more harm than good," she replied after a moment "It's not like he knows who tried to reach him or why. Let's see what he does."

A few moments later the feel of a faint wings overhead and a faintly metallic voice announced the arrival of one of the raven messengers they'd left around the keep. "The Lannister mages are definitely holed up together. Couldn't get close enough to listen with the risk of them spotting me. "

Twenty-Ninth Day of the Ninth Month 293 AC

By morning it was clear what the Golden Shields had planned to do—confront Lord Mooton with the knowledge that there were 'enemies and spies' lurking about. The queen hadn't been napping through it either. She'd gotten Ser Raynald to go to his father right around the same time and claim the Lannister accusations were part of some plot against him. Sandor hadn't been paying attention to all the scheming beyond being ready to rush in if it all went tits up again.

For once the news was good. Towards late morning a raven had flew out to Riverrun with with a message to Hoster Tully claiming the Lannisters were using royal writ to make themselves stronger. He'd even gotten it into his head that the Shields were trying to put thoughts into his head somehow, and that talk of vague enemies were just to cover their tracks. The Dornishwoman giggled when she read that bit.

After a few more pokes throughout the day to make the mages feel they were being watched, as well as actually establish that they really were here to deal with the dragonmen in the woods, the pair decided to go out looking for whoever was making them trouble. Between song and glamour the two sorceresses made sure the Shields got well and proper lost, not six leagues out of Maidenpool and needing to be rescued by Mooton men.

That same evening the Hound was standing guard in Mooton's private parlor while the queen explained how much better it would be for him to serve under the Dragon's banner.

The deed done, the lord bought and paid for, they all headed back to the Deep with Sandor faintly glad he didn't have to use his sword at all this time.

William Mooton support gained (Tentative)

OOC: I think Tyene may deserve some XP for this, and Rhaella definitely gets some progress to her next level up. They turned what was an initial setback into a solid save, with Mooton on board, if not your firmest supporter by reason of his temperament.

Not quite. The Orphene is a new court heavily influenced by Braavosi society and their story is new(in the grand scheme) so their integration is much easier. Highgarden and the Reach fey are old fey from the Dawn age with a solid story so their concerns are far worse.

Edit: integrating the Orphene wouldn't be nearly as bad as the fey reach

Here we integrate them into our story, the Reach is about the mortals becoming parts in the fey's play.

It's still a matter of degree though. We are betting long term that their story will always align with what the empire needs. And that they'll not impose it on our institutions.

E: I don't know how adaptable they are, whether their way of living can be made compatible with how mortals live. I assume that the normal citizenry still has primacy in their needs.

I'm not implying cowardice is perfectly rational, but what was he expected to do? Politically speaking the Mootons aren't important enough to waste resources defending after how they've lost their position and soft power post-Usurpation. They retained most of their hard power, but it's also not Dragons. Also, no one to go to bat for them in the local area seeing as how he KNOWS his neighbors are actively supporting the dragonmen and it's only a technicality that they're being called 'bandits' when the only people they're targeting are Crown agents and supporters.

He's not spoiled for choice here, and the Lannisters haven't exactly proven to be reliable allies in the past to those who were once Targ Loyalists.

I am hoping we can flip a large portion of them wholesale. Get them out of their contracts, give assurances to Castamere, there are some levers to be used.

He could have tried for neutrality, supporting no one and hoping he would not suffer either way, or if the Lannisters could have convinced him he was target he might even have jumped into bed with them reflexively.

So how many more people do we need flipped? A bunch?

A few?
Good question. If we have a big enough seed, and start our 'invasion' with a show of overwhelming force and a shocking number of lords declaring for us, we might cause an avalanche. Tricky part is the 'big enough seed'.

Also if I remember right Bobby B is on the way to Winterfell, where we have the very real possibility of the Jon situation exploding. I think we're in a good place to start it now.

Robert is out of the capital, so should we take it he'll have to play rebel again, only that we can pretty much keep him in the north now with all the deals we've made in the riverlands. Bottle him up, get rid of Tywin and the others will get on with the program.

Btw., do we a have a rod of maximize, greater or empower, greater?
Nope. Those are something for the shopping list next time we're on a buying spree. Of our crafters only Lya has the necessary ability to craft them, and doing so would eat up a huge portion of her time.

We do need to start producing some of the various Metamagic rods sometime soon, though.

Ah, but we voted on having Bloodraven assasinate Jon Arryn the moment Robert leaves for just that reason!

...and also because it would hurt Robert, and, more importantly, his standing in the North even further.
Robert would e forced to turn back and rush to KL once news reach him.

So, no worry about that secret blowing up, yet.
