That was an entertaining and interesting interlude. The Inquisition is making a good showing in the mage fights, it seems.

  1. The length of the narrow sea... yeah it's more like 700nautical leagues. Fixing
  2. I figured they were close enough to drop the formalities, but if it feels jarring I can edit it, no problem
*measures map*

It's roughly 2,550 km / 1,377 nautical miles from Braavos to SD.

Edit: Mind you, that's as the swallow flies, not the route a ship would take.

[X] Plan Wrapping Things Up For Now
-[X] Speak with Erren Florent
--[X] Inform him about the involvement of the Fey in his uncles actions unless Dany already took care of that.
--[X] Give him the broad overview that the Tyrells are in cahoots with the Court of Stars and wrapped tightly in some unspecified bargain with them.
--[X] Ask him to buy the title to the 550,000 IM loan his uncle has given to the Tyrells for 600,000 IM. (Value of the title plus a generous sum for the interest.)
--[X] See if you can prod him into pledging his support for the invasion.
-[X] Speak with Lady Uraka of the Iron Bank
--[X] Inform her about the Tyrells financial troubles, so that the Iron Bank won't give them any loans they would default on.
--[X] Buy the title to the 810,000 IM loan the Iron Bank has given the Tyrells for 900,000 IM. (Value of the title plus a generous sum for the interest and a little "thank you".)
--[X] Inform her about the meeting on the 15th. We need their most warded room. If that happens to be a vault, that's fine.
-[X] While you are in Braavos, visit the Orphne court.
--[X] Have some small-talk first to find out what they have been up to lately.
-[X] Also collect Day of Change sacrifices from the Silver Eye. We haven't done so for 3 months.

Is anyone else annoyed that Houses like this started with hundreds of thousands of IM whereas we claws to this position? Gods I'm jealous. Imagine what we could have done at the beginning with that sort of money. Heck, even 5,000 IM would have been a prize we'd have celebrated for weeks.

EDIT: Shit, I distinctly remember it was a prize we celebrated for weeks. We were so poor.

Correction. Before the Devil wrecked their finances, the Tyrells had 4,000,000 IM in cash.

I like round numbers, too, @Azel, but you're giving away overly large sums of money again for no reason.

That's 140,000 IM you're trying to throw away.

I'm calculating with roughly 10% total interest over the lifetime of the liability, so we are shortchanging Florent for 5,000 IM and giving the IB a 9,000 IM bribe to make this both quick and painless with nobody complaining about political neutrality or something.

When you buy the title for a loan, you pay for both the nominal sum and the expected interest payments.

So I'm giving away 4,000 IM net.

@Azel, we're overdue by at least three months for getting Day of Change sacrifices from Alysande. Can you specify we get that as an OOC thing so I can account for them in the Larder?

12% yearly interest is the Iron Bank standard the minimum lifetime for these sorts of sums is 1 year.
Take note that if your idea is "1% per month", then compound interest would turn that into roughly 12.7% yearly if you calculate it monthly.

If we want to calculate it yearly, then I would insist on up-front calculation of interest at the start of the period, thus raising the nominal sum of the debt by 12%.

On that note, @Goldfish, one of the skills we need to max out is goddamn History, for the sake of answering questions like this during a Dragon Dream trawl next level-up.

It would be nice to max Economics and Law, but f'real. If y'all wanna load-balance between that and some gosh darn answers, buy some Intelligence Manuals.

We had all but completely forgotten the Inception mechanic of Dragon Dreams, we shyed too hard early in the quest when it was a real risk to go deeper.

It's 1%/month so 12.7%/year which is what I charged you guys. I had not not considered compound interest.

For everyone:

We are buying a credit for its their fair value which involves calculating the Net Present Value of the cash flow from the credit, using an interest rate that reflects the risk of similar operations in the market. The higher the interest rate, the lower the NPV, and higher perceived risk.

When you offer to buy the credit (and let's assume that it already incorporates the accrued interests, instead of being valued by NPV) by a higher value than this one, it would make sense to pay more.

How much more? We don't know. But assuming that we have the means to make them pay, then our risk is lower and thus we can pay more for the same credit than another person.

So...
Before the festival is over we've got to get:
1) A talk with that shaitan Spymaster, mostly about war efforts and what we've learned about the Doomship.
2) Proposal to Lya
3) A single line about Heart Trees being grown and MK's shrines being built.
4) At the very least two more speeches/interviews.
5) Items from Silver Eye, 3 months worth of them.
6) Possibly talk with some more lords/ladies if we have time.
7) Info from Asshole-Prince and Brach-whatever.

What else?

@DragonParadox, how soon can we expect someone actually comin, over us having sent a message about critically important strategic information to our extrapolate allies?

Actually the Djinni spymaster (AKA Embra's Dad).

Ah, my bad.
Remembered it being one of them Djinn-like guys, but couldn't find the vote.

Still, the point stands.
We said "its very important", and yet not seen an answer yet.
Which seems weird to me?
