I think he gets the point. Recounting the full list of people who fucked up trying to unite the Riverlands is an exercise in futility. I'm pretty sure we could ask Soft Strider for her input and she can regale us with tales about the First Men settling the area and immediately descending into retarded feuds.
It also proves our point spectacularly, just rattling off half a dozen dynasties when every other kingdom on the continent can at most say they've had two. And almost all of those are Targaryen related. Seriously.
People think we a cosying up with Ned. Paxtor Redwyne recounted rumors to that effect.
I think that's because of the stuff we're doing with the Night's Watch. I just think a more effective way of dispelling that is to treat it like any other of the dozens of absurd rumors about us. Specifically denying it makes us look like we got something to hide.

Point on both. Changed the vote.
For purely defensive purposes this moment, of course.
[X] Azel
Of course. They are just meant as a strategic deterrent. We would never dream of... say... creating a strand of algae with that effect and dumping a few tons of it into the ocean.

I'm being silly.

People dying horribly of plague feeds the plague god @Azel.

Edit: I've had a long day, I'm not trying to be snippy sorry.

I just want to point out that this will likely cause spontaneous daemons in a way that is believable and not super offensive?

That is unfortunately how embodiments work.

On the other hand a slightly stronger plague god is probably better than an ocean full of malevolent aberrations.

Anyway since it looks like things are settled vote closed

  • [X] Plan The Virtue Of Being Useful - The Devil Provides Details Edition
-[X] "Above all else, I've always valued competence and ambition in all those I associate with. I will not divide up the land to hand it out to those who are the best at grovelling before me or the loudest at professing their undying loyalty, but to those who haven proven themselves worthy of such rewards and capable of fulfilling the duties that come with them, if that is what you fear." // If he doesn't believe this, he is cordially invited to speak with some Tyroshi magisters about the best way to get into Viserys good graces.
-[X] "I will see about raising those who prove themselves skilled administrators, ready to take on the challenges of the new age that dawns upon us. Loyal Westerosi where ever it is possible, though where no one with the right abilities and temperament can be found, I will also instate Essosi born lords, just as I award keeps in Essos to second sons." // Dispelling the notion of a foreign invasion. This is mingling. Nothing less and nothing more.
-[X] "There will be quite a few spots to fill. Too many traitor houses need to be lessened, nearly all the Lord Paramounts guilty to one degree or another. And this isn't even counting those lords that might fall in battle during the war." // Stating a few facts, though no particular plans right now. Also a mixture of a subtle threat and/or warning at the end. After what he saw in Westhaven, he should be painfully aware that a lot of nobles will die along their peasant levies if they oppose us.
-[X] If he asks for details:
--[X] "To make a long story short, the kingdoms will be split up and the former Lords Paramount lessened in accordance to their deeds. The peace and unity in the Reach will not outlive the Queen of Thorns who brokered it and I will not wait to see it devolve back into a mirror of the Riverlands. Next time Mace Tyrell decides to siege a castle and feast away a dull matter like a war instead of marching along the Targaryen banner, he will have a more appropriately sized force for that task."
--[X] "The Riverlands are a complete failure as a political entity, torn apart by feuds and war since time immemorial. The Tullys couldn't unite it, the Hoares couldn't, the Justmans, the Mudds, the Teagues... I'm sure there is a Maester in the Citadel who can expand that list by another few thousand years of failure. I will not waste my time on trying myself when I can just divide it along the lines of contention. Hoster Tully sold is loyalty for two marriages to the Baratheon regime, so his opinion on this is of no particular concern."
--[X] "And for the other traitors... The Stormlands will have to cede territory and the Vale will be divided to make room for settlers in the desolate northern half. Magic can turn those cracked mountains and barren hills into fertile lands. If Ned Stark bends the knee, he will retain some measure of power and influence, but the days where all the North answered to Winterfell will be over."
--[X] Wait until he asks about the Lannisters. "I'm not a man willing to slay babes in their cribs for their names alone, but I certainly will settle that particular score with Tywin Lannister. His house will be no more, those who bend the knee will have to cast it off and take a new one. Maybe House Reyne and House Tarbeck will have someone to carry their legacy after all. Casterly Rock will be given to the Legion as a base in the west and as for Lannisport..." Look to Theon. "I do like the ring of Greyport."
---[X] Clarification: Theon wanted a "harbor in the south", implying "to the south of the Iron Isles". Lannisport happens to fit the bill. Tell him that you are rather impressed by his development over the past years and with a few years and a competent regent, you are certain he will rise to this challenge too.
    [X] Plan Imperial Awe
-[X] The Fae of Westeros are a thorny issue. \* Suggest that the Fae aren't homogenous as one unfamiliar with them might assume.
-[X] They hold the arrogance of seeing themselves above men. Having them acknowledge my authority is a challenge in itself. \* Our response just casually assumes that having them bend the knee to us as the course of action.
-[X] One multiplied manifold when these varied, oft capricious beings would need respect also my reflected authority: those of my lords and lawmen. \* The core of the issue with integrating them.
-[X] And a great waste of blood and potential it would be to force obediance with an edge of iron. They are not without their advantages, elusive and quick. \* Genocide is wasteful and difficult. The fey could cause a lot of damage fighting asymetrically.
-[X] But in the end, there can be only one law for all under my rule. \* There isn't any real room for compromise here.
-[X] And with a sufficient demonstration of power and stature, even the fractious can be made to see reason. \* Overawe them, use that as a narrative against them. It won't be easy, but Viserys can do it.

Ah. Fair point, though that's why I want to target the Illithid in particular instead of Sahuagin and Skum too. The latter would have... catastrophic consequences for the ecosystem all on it's own. Hundreds of thousands of rotting carcasses tend to be unhealthy for the environment.

Damn, that's actually a really good point I didn't think of. Goes to show fucking around with bioweapons isn't something to be done without a great deal of thought.

Speaking of that, I wonder what happened to the fungus we set on Lannisport? Did it die out, or did the GS's manage to exterminate it? Does it still regularly pop up, just in much smaller and more controlled outbreaks than the initial spree?

@DragonParadox Questions for my City of Brass infiltration plan;
1) Will there be issues selling PfE items? Or should we stick to PfC, just in case?
2) We have a lot of Efreeti Wrought weapons and armor in our armory. If we remove any makers makers or unique features, would we have any issues reselling it in the City of Brass?
3) Can non-Efreeti even own/lease decent property in the City of Brass? I really hope so, or my plan is dead on arrival.
4) Is Liquid Ice a contraband substance, or even particularly noteworthy, in the City of Brass?

Seems like this is all IC information we should have been able to get from the Shaitan Vizier.
@DragonParadox? Inquiring Goldfish wish to know...

On the other hand, weren't the Illithid quite good at fleshcrafting themselves?
Yes, but it will cost them time and effort to do so. It's not a "I win" button, but it's a massive spanner in the works for them as it will gravely hamper them until they have a fix. Said fix will either have to be something that kills the algae, making them still vulnerable to it in areas they haven't cleansed, or a inoculation against the disease, which will cost them a lot of resources to roll out to everyone.

Last thing I guess.

Leukodaemons aren't dangerous because they are physically or magically powerful death dealers. (they don't serve war after all)

They are dangerous because they are pestilences R&D team.

Proposal for next turns research actions:

- Creating the Mammon Machine
-- Vee, Mercy and Naria -> should finish

- Researching Naaths Butterflies
-- Naath Scholarium, Svitran, Anu -> should finish

- Study Runelore
-- Valeria, Leila -> no idea how long it will take, but they hopefully pick up at least the first tiers of the feat from this

- Empower Oathkeeper
-- Lya -> should finish, especially with Valeria and Leila aiding a bit

- Awaken the Blue Wyrmling
-- Rina, Amrelath -> @DragonParadox, we don't have a progress estimate for this yet

Non-Research Action:
- Find Lady Saenna's children in the Astral Plane
-- Dany, Lady Saenna, Xor

People without something to do yet:
- Argo
- Lohos Saan
- Koron Redmane
- Soft Strider

- Awaken the Blue Wyrmling
-- Rina, Amrelath -> @DragonParadox, we don't have a progress estimate for this yet
While I'm generally against wasting time on this, I'm ever moreso against sending RIna anywhere but helping Jinn researchers, getting us more info on Ice Heart and setting up useful contacts.
Also, actually furthering their research a significant bit just via being, well, herself.

Worst case, she gets down to training Rangers again. We had really miniscule amount the last time she did, sothey need moar training.

*shudders*
No.

Look. I don't fancy doing this either, but a lot of people are and the ice heart isn't in any way critical right now.

It's not about the heart only, mmkay.
I don't care for dragonling, but if it gets rezzed, please do it via someone who isn't a perfect way for us to score some good diplo-points with the best casters Jinn have.

It's about showing that we, too, have something to give to an alliance outside of war-related matters.

And unlike dragonling, Ice Heart is kinda time-critical.
Kinda.
With war efforts going on, they will either quickly research it and be done with it, or let it be for a long while.

:/

Worst case - we can set Jazzirian on freeing the dragon in a month, if everyone is so on about that.

I would much prefer we put Anu on researching the method to produce a Creation Forge. That's vital to making production of Warforged feasible from both a resource and time investment perspective.

That's much more immediately useful than the Naathi butterflies, IMO. The sooner its finished, the sooner we can begin creating Warforged in significant numbers.

According to DP, it would require 30 research progress and Lya, Dany, Vee and Naria are eligible to help if we want to focus their efforts.
