I started typing out an impassioned reply about laïcité, paedophilia, oppression and normalized evils under the cover of religious activity (with a digression about how unpleasant it is to hear people going on about "religious values" like religion had invented basic humanity) - and then suddenly realized that your post didn't make sense in context and that you were probably replying to firefrog again.
Am I right? Should I risk eye-bleeding, or is it just troll-bait again?

EDIT: An "all religious people are evil and/or stupid" derail counts as trolling.

I'm more of a Grammazon fan myself.
Jesus Christ I didn't call anyone evil. I know you can't see this but just stop calling me a ducking troll I said these people can display ignorance about things they don't like. I didn't call them hypocritical evil vile despots of Satan spawn.

Yes, it was firefrog. No, you don't need to look if you don't want.
Yes, if you want to have the Religion debate with me, I'm game.

But:
Wat.

I don't even mean that I don't understand the word, but the impression I have is that this was your phones auto-corrupt.

Is that how you write? Do they do things like that in the backwards parts of the western provinces?

True, but if you don't read "Hypocricy, forced ignorance on oneself, and ignoring facts. I mean religious people do it all the time fictional or not. Though I'm not going to debate it." in context, you read "religious people are ..." as in 'only religious people are'. And, imo, that started the reaction chain.

>>
"En droit, la laïcité est le « principe de séparation dans l'État de la société civile et de la société religieuse » et « d'impartialité ou de neutralité de l'État à l'égard des confessions religieuses »."
It's kind of you to learn their language, but don't you think that it gives them weird ideas about their place if you speak it?

Get stuck in one lunch meeting and miss another six pages of posts... :o

Y'all, please stop panicking about Melisandre. If we have to kill her, I'll be the first in line to loot her corpse, but we need IC motivation to do that, and she has not yet provided it. Be patient.

The Orb of Red Dragonkind isn't really that scary if you know the mechanics of the thing. It has a piss poor DC to overcome our monstrous Will saving throw, plus the Mind Blank that blatantly renders us immune to it's interference and the PfE effect on our amulet that prevents mind control. Added to that is Nine Lives, the presence of three people able to cast Alter Fortune, and well, I'lI stop now.

If she tries to use the Orb against us, I imagine the look on her face will be quite amusing when nothing happens except for her swift death.

The Orb was only really dangerous when used aginast the mindless Valyrian Dragons with bad Will saves. That's why the Valyrians avoided this place.

Say, could you teach Stannis how to be a concept Cleric of Grammar?

Because that would be awesome.

Stannis: Power Word Proofread!

Forces anyone with less than 200 HP to proofread a scroll, book, or similarly sized piece of text, effectively Stunning them unless they are deliberately attacked. :p

But I just used the Google search function, and added English + 3 years of French in school (about 35 years ago). I don't speak French, and Frenchmen are likely happy about that.

I want a croissant now. You did this to me.

P.s. clarification dragon orb is much to dangerous we are going to sacrifice it or something right?

You suppose it works as described when a mindblank (to my knowledge) should block it as written.

In that case you should speak it more. :V

For the record, I've just noticed that I haven't properly mobbed @TalonofAnathrax for his frenchness lately and am trying to make up for lost time.

Good thing Viserys has Bloodwish and can counter with Create Greater Spreadsheet.

Before I get to writing the update I feel like I have to address something about the way I view characters in ASOIAF and generally in good character driven fiction. They do not have default moral states, this one is good because s/he is the hero and that one is evil because 'he's crazy' or 'she's a bitch'. These people have reasons for the choices they make, even the most morally repugnant and if you dig down deep enough there is something understandable, maybe even something to feel sympathy for. Just to be clear that does not mean that having a reason for doing horrific acts somehow makes it OK. That way lies the domain of terrible writing.

For an example let's look at Joffrey, a character that is justifiably universally hated for what he did. Let's look at where the motivations for those actions came from for a moment. His 'father' was a drunk who exercised his royal power mostly in his arbitrary capacity to ignore the affairs of state and so he came up with the idea that to be a strong king is to wield discretionary power, strongly often violently. let's not forget the incident with the pregnant cat which while deeply disturbing certainly was not solved with a beating rather than an explanation. Even his first truly monstrous act, hiring an assassin to kill Bran was motivated by Robert saying 'the boy would be better off dead'. Joffrey was trying to please his 'father' in his own deeply warped way.

On the other side let's look at Cersei a woman driven by extreme paranoia and narcissism, an inability to even see people outside her family as anything besides enemies and tools. Yet she was pretty much the only person in Joffrey's life to give him unconditional love and affection. Is it any wonder he took after her too?

Again this does not excuse the character but it makes him something more than a cardboard cut-out of a villain that the audience can boo when he is around and cheer when he dies.

Is there any reason we cant implement a joke weapon. You know like an enormous construct of a baby to send against enemies to humiliate?

Alright, this happening right now makes me paranoid about DP having already rolled something.

@Goldfish, might be best if you get a preliminary strategy together.

Yes, it was a reply to firefrog, and no, you won't get eye bleed. If you do risk a peek, just make sure to read in context, not in supposition.
+1, thanks

I apologize. My comment clearly said that I had not read your post. I was asking it if was worth the effort or going through the last few pages looking for your posts to see what you had written, or if you had just said something stupid like "all religious people are evil".
Azel then said that you had not written that. So I read your posts, and must say that I misjudged you.

Laïcité is a french word that's very difficult to translate, and that is therefore used as-in in english-speaking articles that talk about it. Sometimes they say "laicism", if that helps?
Basically it's secularism - actual secularism, not the American joke version. Keep your religion private and out of politics or most public events! You can have your church, but don't expect a fucking government tax to help run it!

And I'm not super enthusiastic about getting into another religion debate today, sorry. I thought that you were getting annoyed at my comments (not firefrog's) and therefore prepared to defend my position.
PM me someday if you want to argue about why French secularism is the perfect secularism, but please not tonight.
