-[] Viserys will also help the design work for the Sept, drawing inspiration but seeking to surpass the Great Sept of Baelor, while using the neo-valyrian building style that is developing in SD.
--[] The base layout will be 7 sided polygon as usual for a sept, with a small, 7 sided tower erected a few meters away from the corners.
--[] The outlying towers will be connected by arches to the main building and by a colonnade to each other.
--[] On the top of each tower stands a statue of one of the seven, with the tower and the wall on the opposite side of the building being dedicated to the same aspect. The outside of the towers is adorned with murals depicting the virtues associated with the aspect from carved marble and highlighted in metal. Both the statue and the mural highlights are done in a metal alloy that has the color matching the given aspect.
--[] There is an entrance on each of the seven sides of the main building, with a statue of the aspect to which the side is dedicated rising above the entrance, using the same metal alloys as outside and surrounded by large windows of stained glass, though the actual material used will be transmuted and colored quartz.
--[] In the corners will be smaller statues above shrines used for religious ceremonies.
--[] Lastly, the floor will have a mural depicting the seven aspects moving towards the middle, where a seven pointed star in colored metal is inlaid.

Thoughts? The design restrictions for a sept are a bit annoying.

I'm tempted to offer a gift of a Valyrian Steel sword to the heads of all the temple guards in Sorcerer's Deep. I'm a bit curious to see if the Seven's hardline stance against Blood Magic will make them refuse a royal gift of what's basically prestige manifest. Even if they refuse, everyone else should happily accept.

I mean, VS is absolutely fetishized by the westerosi, even more than the former Valaryian colonies do. I highly doubt any of them would turn down that the incredibly priceless gift.

There is no such thing as temple guards for the Faith of the Seven. Jaehaerys edict explicitly forbids for the Faith to hold men-at-arms.

On the one hand, neat design, on the other, "building the most magnificent Sept in the world" doesn't actually scream "humble the Seven" to me.
We can let Greatest Uncle handle spinning that to the Hivemind I guess.

In that case it'll be pretty funny. The Seven have a hardline stance against blood magic (it's literally one of their core tenets), so to see a Valyrian Steel Longsword being used to guard a sept, in an island that has prolific use of blood magic, will be hilarious.

Temple guards are a thing in Sorcerer's Deep. All the other temples have them. We've specified in our laws how many they're allowed to have and at what point they have to stop.

That said, if the thing from Jaehaerys still applies here, they'll have that handicap while no other religions will. I won't complain.

You know what? That's an epic troll move in the making.

How about:
-[] As other faiths in the realm have been permitted to maintain a ceremonial guard to protect their premises and for ritual purposes, the Faith of the Seven will be granted the same right. You will be donating 7 VS Greatswords to form a Sept Guard from Westerosi knights of good standing and character. There will be no restrictions on marriage or similar as with similar organisations in Westeros.

This isn't a Westerosi Sept though. The whole thing screams magic, Targ, Imperium and, assuming we pull the "totally not knock-off Kingsguard", bloodmagic.

This will be our Sept. The version of the Faith that we permit to exist.

Our current stores of Valyrian Steel can manage this. 8 lbs per greatsword means 56 lbs, which is nothing for us.

For an added troll move, can you tell them the swords will be specifically forged for them so they know we didn't just find them somewhere? :V

But can we give the other temples at least one sword as well as a mark of legitimacy that they're Imperium-approved?

Kinda hard to pull in regards to the Old Gods and I think Yss doesn't have any martial types at all, relying on his clerics and mages for security.

Same for the Merling King and I think Burny doesn't value his temple guards that much either.

I love how we have come tot eh point where our administration can just decide religious doctrine and all everyone else can do is nod and smile. Also should we give Valyrian steel to the other temple guards or do they already have it?

Edit: Nevermind the Old Gods can do with their forge made casters.

Leading up to the front entryway, have marbled steps lined with 44 statues of warriors, but have them depicted as vaguely like Legionnaires if indistinctly so.

Eh. The Old Gods have a Minotaur Oracle who can get something, Triton temple guards can probably be recruited for the Merling King and the citizens of Sorcerer's Deep (and they won't say no to Valyrian Steel), and with Burny it really doesn't matter if he values his temple guards. This was meant more as a mark of legitimacy. If we're angry at them and want them gone, the first thing we'll do is take back the sword.

Full vote.

[X] Plan Generosity and Trolling
-[X] "Wise words. Likewise, it would be foolish of me to judge you by the actions of those preachers with less pure intentions, or to turn away a helping hand in these troubled times. Let it be known then that the Faith of the Seven now truly joins the creeds preached in my realm." // Making it clear here that the Seven are one of many.
-[X] Give him 20,000 IM in funds and the support of the Bulabar to erect a great sept between the Minotaur Village and the library. // This shunts the Sept to the outskirts of SD and into a less prestigious locale then the two Godswoods in the inner ring. Also encourages growth to the west to integrate the Minotaur Village into SD to become the Minotaur District.
-[X] Also rope in Azema to help the effort. She knew Hugor of the Hill after all and has a great sense for aesthetics.

I'd honestly kind of want to raise 7 Weirwoods at the same time as this project, as a direct message to the Old Gods that we're still tight with them, with at least one of them raised in a somewhat obnoxious position like a proper Grove right across the street.

That one can have the traditional Divine Effects of Generated Food, Disease Curing, and Protection From Evil.

Actually, all of them could have similar effects and be spread throughout SD to help accommodate all of the new citizens that are immigrating. Didn't we just gain 10k citizens the other month from immigration alone?

Ultimate troll move from us.:rofl::rofl:

They'll be fine. They love Viserys for feeding them so much.
Should we grow seven weir wood trees to prove a point?
We need to stop by at Braavos to pick up more Day of Change sacrifices. Day of Blood is reserved for the Tree of the Dawn Age, and the Larder doesn't have enough Day of Change sacrifices to comfortably manage 7 Tier-3 Weirwood Heart Trees.

Since multiple people requested this, I've changed the weapons to a separate thing and a neat political move.
Should we grow seven weir wood trees to prove a point? Just more salt and a sick joy we can personally take.
You misspelled eight.

@Azel - here's an idea. The main problem with building such a massive and awesome sept is the lack of legitimacy it'll have. A good solution would be to have it sanctified by someone respected in the Faith's hierarchy, and who would be holier than the Champion of the Maiden herself?

We should speak with Ser Bonnifer even if we don't follow the rest of this plan, it's just a good idea to get know him personally, ask why he swore to us, what happened to the Holy Hundred, etc. What I'm proposing for him, after breaking the ice, is a serious discussion on the future of the Faith at large and our relationship with it. Viserys has heard of Danelle by now and it isn't exactly a stretch to label her as the chosen of the Maiden, and it's about time we made contact with the other major westerosi adventurers. Bonnifer Hasty would make an ideal envoy for that sort of thing.

For clarification, I'm not expecting us to immediately become friends, more to make a first impression with our usual skill as well as helping out our new Grand Sept. Danelle's gotten in with the BLAST alliance, now it's time for her to meet the Targaryens, and draw her own conclusion about who she should support.

Added to have a chat with him.
Thanks @Azel, but what about the Moonsingers? Maybe just a nice sword for whoever is their head of temple guard?
Forgot about them. Added.
