@DragonParadox, you know how you said earlier that we needed super rare reagents that would only be in the Sultana's vaults to make @Azel's Harbinger? Is that ruling still in place? Now that we're allies with the Shaitan, is that something we could reasonably approach them for on the side and expect to have it done with little issue, or would it be a special request that requires delicate negotiations?

It would be a pretty normal request to make.

Another idea that just came to me now would be asking to be allowed to buy glassteal.

I'm not entirely sure why we need special materials again. The intention of the special materials was just to make it cheaper to enchant the Herald, not as a requirement...

Anyway, for the Harbinger, we need mostly a few tons of VS. That is the much bigger issue.

Because our previous efforts to recruit enchanters were met with very, very lackluster results. It turns out that hiring competent people with specialized skills requires either a lot of effort or the right connections. We are now using the second.

The net result? Tons of minor items and a significant speed-up for the Moonchaser project.

To avoid a bad dice roll and build a ship I'm not particularly fond of isn't the answer I wanted but thank you.

Oh I see. You certainly don't seem to be lacking money so maybe not the most efficient thing to ask for.

Eh.

Unless @Azel needs it for something with the various engineering projects I've completely lost interest in glassteel. It just seems utterly pointless? We can have normal glass rivaling glassteel thanks to the Hardening Chamber. What's the point in wasting any money or effort for this?

The shaitan are welcome to their monopoly.

@DragonParadox, will the Sultana be giving us our reward for assassinating the Bey of Beggars? We were supposed to talk to the Grand Vizier about that, but he's not exactly here.

@DragonParadox, I can't find the VS stockpile on the front-page. How much do we have again?
@Azel
On a side note, we have 823 lbs of Valyrian Steel right now.

30 lbs in Miscellaneous Objects
300 lbs forged fresh from the sacrifice of the Steel Devil
493 lbs harvested from the ruins of Lyceos

Of course, we also have other things.

6 Reinforced Segmented Valyrian Steel Fullplates (+2) -- 55 lbs each, 330 lbs total
4 Valyrian Steel Greatswords (+2) -- 8 lbs each, 32 lbs total

As a reminder, the Harbinger will be Huge and will need 4000 lbs of Valyrian Steel (80 HD of sacrificed fiends).
Front page is not up to date.

Tldr we have 823 lbs of loose Valyrian Steel, and another 362 lbs in the form of equipment that hasn't been enchanted yet.

EDIT: Note that this does not take into account forging the standards for the Legion. I have no idea how much Valyrian Steel each standard uses, nor how many standards are to be forged in the first place.

We're We just unlucky with the last recruiting run? Does Viserys feel it is necessary to use royal favour on something so mundane as contracting, particularly given we aren't even asking for them to be all that skilled.

@Duesal what does glassteal do? Is it a magical material like brass seals or...?

If so, what are it's properties?

I mean... We probably want it for Windows and helmet visors its stuff.

It'll be really good at protecting people's eyes after we run it through the hardening chamber.

Edit:

Connections needed for moving this level of skilled labor.

Keep in mind most of the world is still in medieval Craftsman apprenticeship mode.

It was a combination of things not just bad luck:
  1. The short time you had to look
  2. The fact that you were asking people to move to another world when minor mages just are not that adventurous
  3. The fact that you were being mysterious about where you would have taken them
Anyway good night guys. Hopefully I'll be ale to get an update tomorrow morning so we can get back to three updates per day

Well... that's an order of magnitude too little.
Seems we will have to mulch up quite a few fiends for this.

The point here is not to hire 2 or 3 guys like last time. More like 50.

It's literally just glass as hard as steel, something that we can accomplish by hardening regular glass in our hardening chambers.

It's also expensive, and people asking for it makes the Shaitan twitchy since their currency is made of the stuff.

Beyond that there's pretty much nothing special about it.

That's... Well. It is what it is.

Would still probably make great glassware however.

Nod. And it will pay dividends to have 50 enchanters right now during a pivotal time.

And DP has confirmed it was partly bad luck and from the remaining we will be spending royal favour on

1.Poor planning.
2. Forcing the unwilling to move, meaning we are less likely to assimilate them into our structures and get a permanent resource.
3. A non-issue.

This is a waste of a request in my opinion and to speed up a narrow non-necessity.

[X] As per egoo though requesting restricted and unique Lore instead of freely available agents that work for money.

What? How can increased availability of crafters be a non-necessity? It's the one thing that is holding back a lot of large-scale projects in regards to equipment and magic in general.

We are getting lore left and right, but we are constantly trying to scrounge up every little guy with a crafting feat. How getting 50+ of them would not be one of the greatest boons we could ask for is beyond me.
