We're getting an Aesthetic Final Vote as part of the next doot apparently, which is likely why it's taking a few days, mechanis has got to cook.
Considering the relative disinterest in non default designs (and the design vote in general), i don't think we'll be having that second vote.

14 votes for default, 2 for the yranberry meme design, and 2 for my write in for stylized armor.
14/32 voters didn't even bother voting.

The Fata Morgana MBT offers up some really fun options for troop organization in addition to being a really good MBT base. For an elite troop carrier we can use all its slots on enclosed troop transport. Or we can theoretically scale up production high enough to supply our standard VGA squads with a open back Fata each.

I'm pretty sure we need more than a single person to operate these, if for no reason than the heavy weapon may be a turret, which would require a gunner, plausibly.

Nah. If you want to use the Fata morgana as a base for the troop transport you have to iterate on it and strip out the vehicle weapon slots.
Turn them into ranged slots, and you've freed 10 more slots. You then have 17 system slots to work with, enough for the squad and some nice gubbins.

Nay, the vehicles weapons are the best part! The best way to defend the troops on board is to kill the enemies before they can try anything.

It works for elite assault troop transport. Don't remove anything, stick a weapon in each weapon slot and transport capacity in system slots, don't make it a dedicated troop transport, make a squadron of four to be a heavy support and deploy one of these with 4 elite infantry squads.

One thing I really hope we look into is genetic & cybernetic modification of, if not the entire population, then at least some of our troops. Wraithbone and its ability to self repair introduces some interesting options for augmentation and removes many of the risks. An implant made of Wraithbone does not have the risk of waring down overtime and causing damage to the body and can quite possibly grow with the user at they age. Imagine just how much more durable our troops would be if their skeletons were made of near indestructible Wraithbone.

"They are our Bone Eldar and they shall know no fear"

Thats because human ones in 40k are, generally, turbo shit. We can do far better while not making the recipients look like they persist on a diet of scrap metal and orphan blood.
If regeneration is possible, i will always prefer it to replacement.

It also goes hand in glove with my aspiration to use cloning and "resleeving" as a faction. That will require advanced knowledge of biomancy which should make limb restoration trivial.

One centuries long warping of our souls and bodies at a time. while I think there might be something to be said for combining Biomancy and Wraithbone to make a manner of living armor one can merge with Psykically for our Psyker specialist to become power rangers through, I think elfen wraithbone carapace growth modifications is a little too far for Aresh-Vul. He's Craftsman, not some Machanus with a chip on his shoulder.

sorry, just not very interested. there are seemingly better options between the Ishtari and our Wraithbone reality hack techs.

In reality, that's just not possible. Enemies get a say, too. Mines, long range anti-armor munitions, overwhelming numbers of enemy infantry, ambushes, concealed positions, fortified positions (like bunkers and trenches), etc..

You want sufficient protection to (try to) ensure that the crew survive whatever knocks out the vehicle, and can bail out of the vehicle and have a good chance of making it to safety. We can replace vehicles; we cannot really replace Eldar.

We can sustain victories or defeats that cost us equipment/vehicles/ships, but we cannot really sustain victories/defeats that cost us significant numbers of Eldar. We should design our equipment/vehicles with that in mind.

Yea, the base Fata comes preinstalled with 2 shields, a holofield, and a Leman Russ amount of armor. If that is not a sufficient amount of protection then nothing will be.

I think we are talking past each other. When I say cybernetic augmentation, I mean things like "improved eyesight" and "Wraithbone skeleton" not chop off the entire limb and replace with bargain bin aluminum.

I'm not a fan of going for a hybrid role on vehicles either tbh.

A light vehicle with 2 vehicle grade weapons and a small transport capacity is worse at being a gunboat due to not having whatever advanced targeters we will eventuslly cook up, and worse as atransport due to not having space for a second shield to protect the passengers.

Eldar are already bio engineered super soldiers though. We probably can't really improve the base form without drawbacks. Would a wraithbone skepleton have bone marrow? Or does the eldar need periodic blood transfusions (or regular treatments from a biomancer to rejuvenate their bloodcells)?

The eldar base form is already pretty fantastic.

It also comes with a single engine which can be taken out by a simple anti armor mine, at which point we have our troops needing to hold out for pickup or make a retreat on their own.For now, brigantine and an EDBG will suffice, provided we leave our transports with a bit of extra room for downed crews or infantry vehicles in our Light grav model.

I told everyone we should have a second engine just to have a backup engine and be harder to mobility kill, and I said the just two heavy weapons was more versatile than 2 and 1, but regardless, it's over with and we have what we have and it'll be a while before we get the fata morgana let alone start another chassis militarization. best learning to make the most of our options.

But is is possible to put most of that on a vehicle. Take the Fata for example. It comes with 2 primary shielding methods (Grav and Conversion), a holo-field, and medium armor.

From here we have a few options for troop transport. We can:
Use the 7 slots on enclosed or open troop capacity giving it 7 or 15 capacity respectively.
Or use 3 slots on open back to get 6 transport capacity and use the remaining 3 slots on another grav-shield.

Everything Eldar related got a massive hit from the death of the Gods, and i assume biology was included in this. WoG states that the Eldar were near God like soldiers in the War in Heaven and assumably their biology was able to keep up with the psychic power they had. Nowadays, however, people like Draylin will combust if they use anything nearly as powerful as their previous max.

As for the blood issue, why must the improved skeleton not have the ability to produce blood? Why cant a cybernetic alternative do the same thing bone marrow does it not better?

The Fata comes with the Engine fully recessed, unlike the current Light Grav vehicle which defends its engine with a metal grate.
