I really like both of these. I think keeping up to date with K8P is a good idea in general, and establishing a tradition of magical children joining the colleges, especially in a hold that holds Mathilde in such high regard.

I'm not absolutely sure about this action, because I'm not 100% sure what it would even look like. But the thought of likely being done with the Library of Mournings- a major factor of going to Laurelorn in the first place- and never having to spend money on it again is too tempting to pass up.

There's no point to getting cash money now. We wanted it for Lothern, but we can get so much more of what we want right now than we could in Lothern with jewels or coins. They aren't worthy options, while books and trade are.

You recently acquired a great many Dwarven books on Nehekhara, including ones written in the direct aftermath of the Great Ritual by Dwarves who had known the Nehekharans when they still lived. It's unlikely your official duties will ever require you to delve too deeply into the topic, so the only way to indulge your curiosity is to dedicate some of your leisure time to the task.
