Having Halla found a school would be hilarious.
Her lasting legacy: public education.

thats why, yes. "Womans are not supposed to be warriors" is a cultural thing.
Its rare, because most girls are not taught how to fight by their fathers. Even Stainarr did it in secret.
Then, we were just too good for our age group to make us stay home by others and it would have meant pissing off Steinarr.
And nobody would have liked an angry Steinarr at their door for breaking Halla because she is a better warrior than their boy...
I would say Halla is pretty odd in that she has such a high campfire, most people don't bother to train it past the first level I guess. Steinarr had his at 3 I think for alloying.
Oh yeah, I don't think it really fits for the irony thing, just musing in general on the topic.
And yes, that's one reason why I think that active trying to recruit people's daughters to become warriors would not be that well-received by our neighbours. If there were young women who wanted a new life of arms, it's not like we're that unapproachable. Although there might be factors which actually make this more difficult than we'd expect, like the feeling that they need to prove themselves as a warrior first before asking us - which is sort of a Catch 22 situation if no one is willing to give them opportunities.
Mhhh, the most ironic thing would be if like Trausti was trans and had just awkwardly been waiting for a social slot to announce that to her employer.
Stigmar was also called out as ironic as a choice when I talked about two huskarls marrying and what that would mean for our Jarlsoul-in-Training count.
Maybe Stigmar isn't the Most Normal Norse Man, but is instead an exceptional (but less so than Halla) Norse woman in disguise?
clearly Stigmar is just a transgender norse womanThe thing is, we know Stigmar's family, we grew up with Stigmar as the older brother of one of our best friends. The whole family would need to be in on it, it would have needed to start real early, and they'd need to be very good at keeping secrets indeed. It's not impossible, but it seems very unlikely.
I think it's more likely the rest of the example you used that was being referred to.
Honest question, is there a reason no one has brought up Stigmar maybe gay?

We've accepted some pretty weak people on our crew, historically. We brought Aki along on combat missions when he was, like, 13 scrawny and blind...I feel like Halla's reputation is not that she demands warriors she fights with be excellent immediately.
This is definitely true, but I think it might be slightly more opaque to a local farmer's daughter than it would be to readers of the Quest. Our public image is going to be weighted more towards our more recent and more famous deeds - when we were stronger and tended to ship out with predominantly (not exclusively by any means) fairly strong warriors. There were some newbies we took along with us as well, absolutely, but I'm not sure that would be the immediate first impression, or what comes across most strongly through stories.
That being said, yeah, it's not like we've done anything to intentionally discourage people joining up, and we've generally lent a helping hand where possible.
honestly, Halla has some of the best feats in the Hading valley and is one of its best warriors, being in upper top. even among peak warriors, its likely many of the warriors there never faced a Jotnar in a riddle game, Halla tends to have crazy adventures. so that could be rather intimidating for a simple farmer daughter who doesn't know Halla will likely have no problem taking her along.[X] Examine the Thralls
