Also, I know the Iowa yards were canon, but it'd be interesting if instead of tech-first focus from the Human part of the Federation, they go all in on mass-production and pull a General Revil full Infinite Fly Manta Works.

So basically, out-Klingon the Klingons. It'd be funny.

This is probably too late in the vote to really change anything but long term gains is best when we just solved, or at least just put a major effort into solving, our only short term problem is just a no brainer. I can understand wanting Shinies, but we will be getting those Shinies no matter what we do, so putting extra effort into getting them at the cost of long term, and possibly exponential growth if we make sure to properly manage our 'Manufacturing/Expansion' numbers.
 
Memes on the factory growing aside, I'm hoping to do a cargo hauler next. A better armed, faster freighter was heavily fought for earlier in this thread and I believe it still has merit as our next project.
 
If the prototype option had a long-term affect in starship technology or development, I would be rooting for it. However, it appears from QM statements that it would not be so- we are just getting a component for this ship and it is still available next ship without pushing the technology.
