[X] Yes, spar with Hal

I mean, he's right here

Good god though, he was Warband caliber at 10? And he's only gotten better since? We're fucccked

But hey, great chance to get some Ideas.

Well, if he's offering...

And yeah, I don't think we win this one, but hey, worth a shot and should give us some useful insights.

"The Ulfhednar," Hal nods with a small, wry grin on his face, like it was the most casual thing in the world, "and yeah, yeah I did. My father is a Skirsvikingar survivor, so he taught me a couple tricks, which helped."
oooh,Ulfhednar, Berserkr but wolf instead of bear. (And with some connection to Odin)
Wonder how this quest treats them.
Frenzy users with traditions separate from Bersekr?

On the bright side getting our ass kicked should activate Determination From Defeat

Maybe just wear the Gambeson? Since we don't have a forge/enough time to repair our mail if it gets wrecked

We probably do, honestly. We've got doubled auto-repair speed and at least 9 days before we hit Wessex. Plus we could spend an action if we wanted...we'll have 9 of those pre-Wessex.

Is DfD even equipped right now? I think we unslotted it.

We did not, it's still slotted. We never will unslot it because per IF you need it slotted when you lose. We unslotted Vows of Love because it's only relevant when trying to conceive.

Does Hal qualify for Punching Up? Either way,

[X] Yes, spar with Hal

Can we make sure to unslot Dressed in Rags et al?

@Imperial Fister, can we tell if Punching Up can proc against this guy?

Also, if this guy presumably got the Fylgja fragment of Blackhand, and his mother has been gone from the family for a long time on top of being a woman to begin with, Hal probably doesn't know about Stoker State.

His mother might have told him enough for him to figure it out, assuming she knew. He might also not know, of course, but we shouldn't assume.

Warband at 10? damn. should be noted that not all Warband members are very strong. most of the dudes we fought when helping Halfdan were rather weak(with the obvious exception of Reidar and the berserker). even then, its impressive. but Halla is no weakling either. I wouldn't discount the possibility of winning, not before we get some tactics info on him.

we should probably talk to jordan later

Punching up will not proc

Seems that he's in the same rough ballpark of strength relative to us as Gabriel in that case? So likely a bit stronger, but not so much that we should be unable to win with tactics.

I'm going to be busy tonight, but my main bits of advice for any plans would be:
1. Put enough dice into stuff. He's going to be hitting hard and his rolled defences are going to be strong as well.
2. Contested Movement is always a great idea, we'll learn very quickly if he has a counter.
3. If he does not know about Stoker State, then building towards a powerful Stoked Strike would not be a bad finisher; the damage scaling is ridiculous.

I think he's still a fair bit above us rather than a peer like Gabriel...but beating him should be possible, yeah.

I'm generally on board with #1 and #2. #3 is tricky to combine with #1, though...not impossible, but tricky.
