I don't think we should send men to scout. If we're gonna scout we should do it ourselves using Dressed In Rags on our Owl and maybe fiddling with things so the owl also has a Stealth shapeshift. Which is the idea that is tempting me right now.

They'd probably just kill any strange hooded figures lurking around, and that leaves our felag to just sit on their hands. I am in favor of Shock and Awe.

Yeah, I think it's time to Owl Stealth with it Shapeshifted to be Smaller so it gets the Stealth Bonus. Switch our Shapeshift Slot out for the Fast to store the Frenzy in the meantime, and put it back when we're done.

Okay, but this is a fairly large group of Norsemen, so I'd rather not risk trying to be clever and having Bandit Birdbreaker or whatever notice us.

That's understandable, but I think I still want to try it. We have a bunch of stuff to make us better at it, and going in blind is always risky.

[X] Scout it First (v2)
-[X] Do it ourselves, sending our Fylgja
-[X] Reassign our Dense Muscles to a Fast, move Frenzy there, move our Fylgja's shapeshift slot to the Stealth increase. Move everything back when it comes back
-[X] Unassign Semi-Halting Vortex and Thievesbane on the Fylgja and assign it Sway and Ember-Wing Cloak. Unassign Heated Shroud and assign The Return of Stigr. Again, undo these changes when it comes back
-[X] Use a combination of mundane stealth and Hidden In Rags to sneak closer and get an idea of the situation, being prepared to retreat if there's trouble. Use Dead Air as needed and useful to enhance this, and Magnify Sight to get a better look at them without getting closer than necessary.

Whatever we're doing to this guy it must be something only an odr cultivator can do.

We should try cutting his legs off though. Puns are powerful in magic.

If the Seer didn't actually say we'd defeat this wolf guy we could try talking.

[X] Surely they won't just shoot us
-[X] just roll up to the camp and demand to speak to their leader

Is there a viking version of a white flag to indicate we want to talk?

Bastard was hiding something.
Confirmation it's a guy seer, odds of Odin increasing.
The seer didn't say, only implied 'defeat'.
Okay, if the prophecy was so vague it's really important we can get the exact wording of tbe vague prophecy especially with how they implied defear - hello did you just leave excuse me?
ghost of a wolf is clinging to the bones of a man
... Moonless Night, are thee dead or not?

Livesaving Treasures must be a thing right? This IS Xianxia after all. And we have his fur, that might chase him away?

Er, Solrun-Raven, did you get any visions about this?

Should we be concerned that the Wolf-Bone-Man-Thing can sniff out our Fylgja, the same way Wolfwind could sniff us out?

Especially if it was Moonless Night, wolves have very good sniffing skills.

We should probably slot Dead Air onto our Owl, and/or possibly choose a very high flyover, beyond the range of normal Hugareida attacks like Gale Spear (or high enough that attacks have a massive penalty), then use Magnify-Sight Trick to do the scouting from above.

Oh yeah, we have Dead Air, right? Useful.

Dead Air is already on the Owl, it didn't fit in our capacity and the Owl had one free. I sort of assumed we'd use it if needed, but I'll specifically note it in the plan. EDIT: And explicitly added.

@Imperial Fister, could we charge up the Flame-Tending Blade before our attack, as part of a Shock and Awe option?

I know the Nornir say they don't like putting the finale at the start, but maybe they can think of it as a punchy first chapter instead!

(I want to use it in a real fight goddamnit.)

[X] Shock and Awe

"Sundertouch here. Their leader is the only one that's actually properly dangerous, mind you. He's the ghostly man wolf thing, the one the prophesy said would need you to..."

"To what?"

He frowns, "The seer didn't say, only implied 'defeat'. He was very vague on that one," the frown deepens into a scowl, "too vague for your typical prophecy. Bastard was hiding something."

This looks like a situation that calls for Knee-Groin-Trick!

I'm in for using it on the main guy if he seems scary, but probably not the first turn. Cause Nornir.

I don't think it's wise to game the system that way.

Fair enough, but I asked Fister, not you guys. 😛

If it's gaming the system, IF can say that. I also think that "never use it first" cuts down on some opportunities for cool scenes, and am seeking clarification; the Nornir thing might be more for one-on-one duels.

Quick reread..
"However, a seer came by, speaking of a woman with eyes of steel and hair of fire who rides the skies on wings of flame. A woman in need of whetstones, who will rid us of a certain someone in the hills."
My gods.

1.5 of this prophecy just relates to Halla. The remaining 0.5 is basically the Seer (Odin?) telling them to put us on this quest.

This isn't even a freaking prophecy at all, this is just Odin telling them to give us the damn quest to kill the monster. While hyping us up a lot.
"The King ordered us to save over two-thousand units of whetstones for you, out of the faintest hope of you existing."
So much hype.
