We might be able to overcome his DR with a fanned flames Sparkbomb depending on how fanned flames augments it aside from upping the speed.

We explicitly grabbed Sailwind to speed up Sparkbomb (among other things), so that might work. It'd take a lot of hits to do anything, though, like 8 Sparkbombs to take him out, which is kind of ludicrous when examined.

Blood keeps them from every passing it along to their kids. That makes it a bad gift, I think. It's fine for a commission or for ourselves, but giving something as a gift with huge downsides is poor form, I think.
"huge downside" sounds a bit overdramatic for 'less efficient if passed on', though it does depend on the person.

And how would it be better for a commission unless discussed with the client beforehand (which could be done equally well for a gift ("hey If you could have an armor that is better when used by you, but equally worse if used by anyone else, would you want that?")).

To be honest we don't do commissions, or really brag about our forging skill all too much.

Out of curiosity why did we grab sailwind instead of fanned flames?

Because Fanned Flames is not mostly for speeding up Sparkbomb, it might speed it up somewhat but it's not specialized in that. Sailwind is more specialized and also has some non-combat utility (since we own a ship). We will also be grabbing Fanned Flames, but if the goal is faster Sparkbomb we want something that directly pushes it more.

I mean, passing weapons down family lines is a big deal and standard practice. A down side we know will come up is a pretty big deal.

Well yeah, that was sort of my point...commissions have their stuff agreed on ahead of time, so this would be fine if requested.

Hey Halla,
is it common to pass on (not realized) weapons in the family or do people usually take their weapon to the grave, with new generations getting new weapons made for them?

You're supposed to be buried with a weapon if you can possibly afford it. Not 'all of your weapons', not even neccesarily your weapon if it comes to it, but a weapon.

Hey Sagaseeker,

Would you count Shadeclaw as a sibling?
Does the word 'Odr' mean anything to you?

Relatedly,

Does being fostered by someone like, give you 'rights' to learn secret stuff like Skaldry and Seidr?

Also, @DeadmanwalkingXI, @Alectai, can we use the Eye-talk Seidr spell to do the DISCLOSURE. If the enemy cant hear our minds without us calling his name, then that sounds relatively safer.

We can try, but we're not at all sure that would actually work, which means we need to prep as if it won't and we aren't ready yet.

When we do Disclosure, we're gonna try, like, at least three or so different 'Is this Disclosure?' variants before we get to just saying it outright. We probably start with showing it to people in writing, then do Eyetalk, then try another language other than Norse, then finally if none of those have triggered it we just say it outright in plain Norse. But I suspect of all those only maybe the book won't provoke the Enemy's standard response.

Bit of a non-sequitur, but did you know that Kansas is the only state in the US that is actually able to properly cull its population of feral hogs? This is done via, no joke here, herding entire packs into prepared killzones, hunting via helicopter, and NVG-clad night-time hunts. We have a population of around 400 hogs while our neighboring state of Oklahoma has around a million.

So, the lesson here is that if you want to properly cull a population of destructive animals coming in from neighboring regions, you hit them with truly overwhelming force. Like, in this instance, bringing Steinarr to hunt some wolves.

...you know we could definitely use the evil seeds to grow whatever bad juju it'll become in our Disclosure Killing Field that we got the Dwarves to help us build if we haven't figured out another use for them by then.

Optimal? No. Do I want to read this scene? Yes.

I wonder if eating the hearts of wolf monsters will give us a Wolf Hugareida.

Also, Abjorn new Armor probably turned him in one of the toughest warriors in the Valley. Even if others are more powerful, he can probably take on their attacks.
