So for the Crowfeeder side of the blade:
I have the soul of a warrior, my edge forever sharpens for battle without dimming.
And the other:
I love honour and hate evil, let the worthy take heart and the unworthy burn at my touch.

If we're giving our weapon a soul and an intelligence and intending to hand it down to our heirs, then some sort of sense of moral purpose seems like a good idea to avoid "cursed ancestral weapon that hungers for blood". The effect I'm going for here is enhanced damage against servants of the enemy/generally Bad Dudes, as well as it literally burning to the touch if an enemy tried to pick it up and use it against us, or someone tried to do use it to stab orphans in the back or something else ontologically bad.

Nightblood would like a word with you.

[X] Plan Counterattacks
[X] Plan Defence in Depth

Either of these feel safer than Alecti's, they have a second guard, and they have early AP attacks. Also a large starter attack as I feel like Gabriel may have a large dice persistent defence to start then some small single defences, and the starter persistent may eat all of alecti's basic chip attacks.

[X] What's up with the black fire?

In terms of Orthsirr use I think we should spend about 300 to 400 this round.

Also I think it would be nice if we developed a Slash trick. I have an idea for one, 'Fast Slice', which is just an attack that hits really fast. It would be useful if we found ourselves fighting something while we have lots of Dense Muscles.

A trick to break ablatives like what Steinarr did would also be good.

I don't know why there are plans involving perfects at all when Gabriel is doing an anti Perfect regimen, that seems kinda dumb. Like choosing bulbasaur to a charmander when you have a squirtle.

Alecti is like vaguely 250ish
Skippy is like 350ish
Deadman is like 500-600ish

All of those are if all of the conditionals go off which they absolutely won't, like Deadman has around 270 in some HHCs, and that's if both guards, and standstill stuff all fail/runout. So its not an accurate measure, but theres numbers for you. Hope it helps your vote choice.

My plan is at 270-382*, with 24-72 added to that depending on how many opportunities Gabriel gives us to use our Contested Movement + Flashfire Cleave counter-attack, though I think it's unlikely we'd end up using it three times as that'd probably end the fight. (I'm going to amend it right now to specify that we want to do this at least once.)

Does this sound good?

*(Depending on our usage of the four Slice-Aside tricks budgeted in the plan; I'd expect we use at least two.)

@Imperial Fister Will every question get answered or only the one(s) with the most votes? Also, do his shimmers look like they're reacting to our own like another Berserk's or does Focus look different?

I like this, will add a vote into the post where I've got my plan so it dosen't bork the tally.

It's purely included as situational, and I expect we will likely not get a chance to use it at all*: but I can remove the the mention of it if that's a dealbreaker?

*(As I understand it that is the case with Deadman's plan, too.)

That was awesome!
Gabriel's Soma: 29 vs Halla's Hamr: 22+5=27, Gabriel Wins! 6 Armor Damage! Armor Pierced! 1 Frenzy Damage!
This was already discussed but still....
Between 8 and 16 dice with boost huh? That's a big pool for a basic stat.
'To have a true rival is a rare and precious thing. Few are the men who can truly match you blow for blow and fewer still are the men who would do so in a friendly manner.'
True.... Did you had any, Hallr?
Endurance: (16/16) | Focus: (5/7) (33 Replenish/66 With Armor)
Armor: (22/33) | Rebuke: 6 (11)
Boost: +15 to Rolls/+3 Speed | Charges: (3/3)
Hm.... I wonder if the speed is deliberately or if knights get +1 speed for every 5 boost? Same with charges...
Gabriel is planning on hitting you far harder than before as well as utilizing anti-Perfect Defense tricks as well as other anti-status effect abilities. He's pushing himself a lot harder than he needs to in countering your basic attacks.
Ah, he is doing it in Norse fashion, burning bright and fast, huh? Hopefully it's not going to be a bad habit for him after his return but then, it also works against knights so who is to say?
Well, good to know he picked up/found a puncture equallevent.
Also, lol, he missed with the anti status effect. We can't even burn things! Lmao.
Although... Does CM count as a status effect? Or is he just picking that due to the blinding flash?
You may notice that you didn't catch that attack on Halting Vortex. That's because it, frankly, makes no sense to me. The counter-attack you chose to use requires both hands and also a lot of effort. If you're already in the middle of making that attack, how are you going to have the ability to stop the attack while keeping your balance, move your arm up, and then activate Halting Vortex — all in the extremely small window of time you have before the enemy's attack hits you? It just makes no sense to me.
Would the reinforced gripmade a difference, what with it letting us handle two armed weapons in one?
Him having Soma 16 would be absurd, this is a fundamental attribute thing. It shouldn't let him reach a higher than Steinarr level of dice pool.

It might just be that his Boost applied for this.
I doubt his boost applies to endurance.... And the boost was not shown to apply for the soma test... Hm....
Possible, but with using d4s I think Feudal Cultivators just having slightly higher attributes is also very plausible. Like, I don't buy a 16, but a 10 seems pretty reasonable.
Hm yeah that's more likely but...
Knightly armor has bonuses out the ass, could one of them be a general bonus to soma?

Still have 3, likely 4 pages to go through, but some thoughts:
He is readying anti perfect defenses, so guess we should paint on some reinforce shield layers? Iirc we can do 4 without giving an opening?
Can we use "Fight of Your Life"?
Hm.... Can we use recall on his armor to distrupt his stance/pace/rythm?
Should we try shatter wrist?

@Imperial Fister to reiterate my correction to one of my previous questions: What happens to an attack that breaks a Guard?

On the defensive side, it uses Slice-Aside Tricks which are working off of only 20d6, which seems kind of hard to justify if you assume as this plan does that Gabriel will be focussing more of his dice on offence. He was already able to beat his way through a 30d6 Atgeir Bodyguard in the last round, so what can he do if he really goes on the attack?

Yeah, looking at it that's a real problem...those defenses will not stop any attack he's gonna throw so they might as well not exist. Anything short of 30d6 is spitting into the wind, and 40 or 50 would be better.

I like this, will add a vote into the post where I've got my plan so it dosen't bork the tally.

Just add it with no dash preceding it and on a separate line. That'll count it separately.

It's purely included as situational, and I expect we will likely not get a chance to use it at all*: but I can remove the the mention of it if that's a dealbreaker?

*(As I understand it that is the case with Deadman's plan, too.)

This is correct. They're on there if everything else fails as a 'Why not?' because at that point the Orthstirr won't matter.

I'm doing the same for Alectai's (just voting for his username tho. can't figure out the formatting)

This votes for Alectai's Plan (By the Book) as well. Just FYI...if that's the intent it's fine, but if you just want to do the question follow my advice above.

[X] Plan: Like a Book

[X] "So, the way we normally train is by refining our control of the BodyHamr, acuity of the MindHugr, and those with strong sensitivity or the right opportunities can embody their SpiritFylgja, I'm curious what you call your own focuses in those fields."

I think IAT is a status effect, and Gabriel had to deal with it last time, so I get the feeling it's not going to work out thid time aroind. Slipstream and Mire Ward may both count.

Although I guess anti-status effects are probably for people doing poison, curses and shit, which Norsemen don't really do but which Knights may well have to deal with.

4 layers is about the equivalent of one attack in terms of the time it takes...I'm a little dubious we have time.

Can we use "Fight of Your Life"?

All current plans make extensive use of that, yes.

Hm.... Can we use recall on his armor to distrupt his stance/pace/rythm?

That armor is protected as shit and Recall specifies it works on 'unsecured' items. I am very dubious.

Should we try shatter wrist?

We're doing enough damage that we probably take him down in two or three more hits that actually get through...I dunno if Shatter-Wrist is good under those circumstances. It's also bad manners to use it in a spar when we can't fix it and I dunno how Time Heals would work with that, or if it'd work on Christians at all.

Idea: Let's spend 27 Odr on the Bearbreaker poem. Abjorn deserves a badass poem, and I wanna see what happens when 3^3 Odr is spent on something.

So do 3, every time we get a breather?

Eh worth asking. Guess that version is counted as battle seidr for a reason then.
Oh, I almost forgot these....
I'm pretty positive it's where he's getting his physical enhancement stuff, yeah. His Hugr-equivalent is probably where he gets his Focus from as well just like we get Frenzy from Infused Hugr. I dunno what a 7 there actually indicates in terms of other stuff, though.
Perhaps another milestone? God created the world in seven days, the seven sins and probably other things too.
They might get blessings or something?
I wonder how Rebuke works. All attacks with less than 6 Orthsirr/Fervor/Qi-Equivalent doesn't do anything? Gabriel doesn't seem to know if his rebuke would work on any given attack, however.
Guess that's something for after spar talk huh

I mean, to take this seriously for a moment, the Skald already took care of that, I feel. We could spend 1 Odr and hope for good effects if we composed a poem...but that's an action and I'd rather make him armor.

And besides, if we were gonna use 27 Orthstirr on anything external, it'd be Sagaseeker.

So do 3, every time we get a breather?

It'd be 2, since it's 1 Orthstirr per two layers (it's actually using 2 Orthstirr that takes an attack's worth of time), and that still takes some time, just not a full attack's worth. Not sure if it's worth slowing down that much, we aren't that much faster than he is.

Eh worth asking. Guess that version is counted as battle seidr for a reason then.
Oh, I almost forgot these....

I mean, Quick Recall would let us steal his sword if it was already disarmed and retrieve our own weapon instantly if we lost it, so it's not useless by any means...just not 'steal people's armor' kinda useful.

Judging from Rebuke, I think that the first Decade is likely for Pages, since high quality Knightly Armor stands a good chance of no selling whatever they can do, but from the second Decade on they are considered Squires since they can at least theoretically contribute to Knight v Knight combat.

That seems plausible, yeah. A Page could theoretically contribute against a knight, but only to the tune of a single hit or so (and not one that got through, just one that forced an actual defense), if their per-turn Fervor Pool is really all they get (which looks likely, but isn't completely certain).

Thinking about if further, I think Decade is also what ups their Speed and gives the flat bonus to rolls...every Decade above the first is +1 Speed, +5 to rolls. That's a bit cookie-cutter, but I think their cultivation is a lot more standardized than the Norse version. It may also give a flat Endurance buff and determine Focus...no Infused stats involved in the way we do them, just Focus 1 +2 per Decade above First and +1 Endurance when they become a Page and then +2 Endurance per Decade above First. That'd peg Gabriel at Soma 9, which is likewise plausible.

If true, that'd peg a Tenth Decade Knight at, like, 30+ Endurance, 19 Focus, +9 Speed, and +45 to all rolls...which is absurd, especially the extra toughness, but not unbeatable for someone like Steinarr.

I wonder if Gabriel is getting any use out of our runes items. Like it might not do anything specific to him but the runes should be affecting him regardless.

It's a good question. Maybe? Hard to tell from the outside, and even harder since we've only been providing Training Items for a very brief amount of time.
Gabriel has definitely been affected by our Mutton frenzy.

"Halla, I feel it should be noted that our.. four... Huskarls are like this close to rioting over your mutton frenzy."
