That reminds me. Should we respec our Shapeshifts to be more anti-Trollmen? Offensive/Defensive-Tuned Reflexes would let us kill arbitrary numbers of Trollmen from not needing to spend Orthsirr.

Not really an option, we've got a shapeshift to let us one shot, a shapeshift to counter nearsighted, and one for extra attacks, that is a good build for this, as our Frenzy gives us a big edge against relatively weak, low dice targets

Not everyone can talk a Knight into giving up all their treasure without even defeating them.

Sure, but Lars there was badass enough he could probably take a lot of knights personally. We took him out, sure, but we'd gained a lot of power since we dealt with the Knight, and a lot of taking him out was Sten anyway. We were told our Felag could've taken a lot of Knights, and if that's true Lars and a group of Stoneson level people could definitely do the same.

Instead, he was spending a lot longer to get less total money accompanied by, frankly, mostly not particularly badass people (I'm pretty sure less than half the bandits were Stoneson level or above...his second in command, who fought Sten, Tryggr, Trausti, and maybe the sentry, the guy we could've fought instead of Tryggr and/or the archer Lars was guarding, so 3-6 of them). I guess it might make sense as a training mission, but if it was that Tryggr and Trausti would've mentioned it, I think.

Like, I'm not saying what we did on the raid wasn't impressive (it was, particularly considering our power level at the time), but Lars was an enemy on par with many knights personally (probably not the one we ran into, but many of them), give him a good team and he could raid Knightly Manors pretty readily.

That reminds me. Should we respec our Shapeshifts to be more anti-Trollmen? Offensive/Defensive-Tuned Reflexes would let us kill arbitrary numbers of Trollmen from not needing to spend Orthsirr.

Eh. Our defenses are 1d6+8 by default with no Orthstirr even if we aren't flying. Our offense is technically only 1d6+4, but we can (as I mentioned previously) use Kindle-Spinner and be attacking for 7d6+4 and 4 damage for only two Orthstirr per attack with AoE. I have to imagine that's better than just basic attacks most of the time given how cheap it is and the amount of Orthstirr we have. Like, if our AoEs hit multiple Troll-Men decently often, we can kills literally hundreds of Troll-Men before even tapping our Aspects at that rate (at two hit per attack on average, each Orthstirr kills a Troll-Man, so 300 Orthstirr is 300 dead Troll-Men), and killing them faster is likely worth minor extra costs.

Speed and ranged damage (for the aforementioned AoEs, as well as improving our eyesight) are definitely needed and, if we do run into anything big, we'll want the melee damage as well.

Can we spend some time with our siblings and nephews and nieces? By siblings I mean the little ones, not Sten and Eric?

It's definitely on the list of things to do in the near future, yeah. Along with more time with Drifa and with Eric's kid.

When was this said? I am like... pretty sure we wouldn't have taken out the Knight we fought without taking some serious losses, or even death.

The general impression I got after our own experiences and Steinarr's interlude is that a Knight will fuck over most Norsemen, unless the Norseman in question is an actual badass. Lars was strong, yes, but I never got the impression that he was anything more than your typical Ironbrother. Which is still strong as fuck, don't get me wrong, but I feel like a proper Knight - with their horse - would win most of the time.

Depends on the Knight and the Norseman. For reference (these are both in regards to Folkmarr's Felag on the raid):

Also depends on how strong they are.

10th Decade Knight?
You don't stand a chance. Flat out.

4th Decade? The weakest possible full Knight?
Hard, but possible.

You guys can take a 7th Decade Knight

...If you were willing to suffer significant casualties. And leave yourselves extremely vulnerable to a second or even third Knight. Which will be gunning super hard for you.

And Lord Highwater, the one Steinarr killed, was stated to be 10th Decade, though I'm not finding the reference as easily.

So, when I say Lars could've taken a lot of knights, I'm being quite serious...from what we've seen he could definitely take a 4th or 5th Decade one, and I suspect he was maybe even on par with a 6th Decade one (though add in the horse and he'd likely lose in 'single combat' there), though I have no proof, so maybe equivalent to a 5th Decade Knight is more accurate. A 7th Decade Knight is almost certainly more powerful than him, and I suspect what the Knight we negotiated with was at, but not all Knightly Manors are gonna be equal in that regard.

Ironbrother tier is no joke. Note that we got a Feat at the same level as attacking the Manor for beating Lars. Now, we would've gotten more for beating the Manor (because, I'm pretty sure, that Knight was indeed 7th Decade), but Ironbrothers are serious business.

If Darkest Dungeon has taught me anything, it's that you never want to run out of torches.

So this got stuck in my head a bit and particularly with us potentially down to four adventurers I started thinking about what Darkest Dungeon classes our merry band would actually be. Halla is obviously a Hellion, Gabriel equally obviously a Crusader, and Stigr, as an archer, most closely matches the Arbalest. I'm a little stuck on Stigmar, though I guess with relatively heavy armor maybe Man At Arms?

I think we'll probably fare better than most Darkest Dungeon parties do, though.

Man At Arms or possibly Bounty Hunter, but Stigr is very much a kind of dependable backup sort of guy, so MAA fits much better I think. And yes, here's hoping!

Honestly this should be a pretty good dry run for fighting underground, useful if we're fighting with the dwarves soon.

for the record, i would like to note this is a bad idea. Hopefully the dice finished cooking whatever they had in mind and we can get reinforcements. would still prefer to better prepare.
Now, thats out of the way...

Honestly, thats not a bad idea. we would double the dices rolled if going full blender with 1 dice attacks but i would like to keep our speed advantage with 1 fast twitch.
a shapeshift to counter nearsighted
..yes i know its for +1 damage on KS, but i really don't want to use that underground.
And we could swap out target tracking eyes and use magnify sight trick instead during the whole time underground too, if we will only use it for the flaw mitigation. Yes, i know that's just me.

But. Every. Single. Time.

The first advantage people bring up for keeping TTE, is to counter our nearsightedness, which we have a trick to nullify, not the +1 damage to KS....

I'm pretty sure using the flamethrower version of KS is by far our most efficient Troll-Men killer and think that should be our primary tactic, which makes Offense-Tuned Reflexes wildly unnecessary. The explosive version is, admittedly, not as good an idea.

The nearsighted is less of an issue, though, it's true.

Huh. Would the Repair-Edge trick that we can learn with Forgefire allow us to repair the edge of Sagaseeker if we used Sharpen?

I know, i even called it out at the start.
That wasn't my point though.
Iit was, again, that the first advantage of TTE brought up was that it counters our nearsighted flaw.

last time i asked, IF quoted both that and the "we should look at Crowfeeder" bit of the comment... saying its funny i was asking that, just before we were told what they do before the daurgr army attacked.
So, probably, but that's just my assumption.

Edit: Because, of course, i would forget it...
IF, i was looking throught the thread, but saw it nowhere.... so i am asking, do troll-man also suffer from the trolls' weakness against the sunlight or do the human half protects them from the curse?

Oooh! Will this be a day of the legendary double-tap?
It's not an impossibility ;P

I also have some plans for today that will eat up some writing time, but hopefully it'll go by relatively quickly.
:)

How was this one?

Actually close to running out of topics to write poetry for..
Ahk! I can't believe I missed it! That's my bad, there.

A Reward Dice and an orthstirr for the trouble!

I suppose you'll have to go on more adventures if you're running out of topics!

Fire is a pretty bad choice to be using underground, due to the fact we might burn through our air supply if we do go all in on fire effects. Electricity isn't that great either with pockets of gas we might find underground.

Do we know Halla's birthday? Want to get it for something I'm writing.

I mean, I'm pretty sure everyone here has enough hamr and orthstirr that they can probably go without air for a while.

Well, I say that, but I'm not sure about Gabriel admittedly. While he is a cultivator, I don't want to assume he has the same vitality the Norse do.

Does Target-Tracking Eyes not apply it's damage bonus against Allies (for an AOE attack), or even reduce it, since by aiming more accurately you can reduce the chance of friendly fire?
