You know what would be really useful in this fight? A shield!
Next time we gain a shapeshift slot I want to start single-handing Sagaseeker so we can use a shield. Maybe even forge an iron-faced one like Torsten's.

Er...no it wouldn't. We have infinite shields at 4 Orthstirr a pop with Halting Vortex and couldn't use Hugareida while holding a physical one. I honestly fail to see how a physical one would be remotely helpful to us.

Our next shapeshift slot (which is quite a long way off barring shapecrafting...Infused Hamr 6 is probably the next one) is honestly probably gonna be more Fasts so we can hit Frenzy 6 in the long term. That gets broken real quick.

I think we should keep a HV ready to save Hasvir
Your battle has moved away from where Hasvir lays on a pile of broken chairs, which is now to your back. The entrance is to your left. The Threaded Man has its back to a surprisingly intact table.
If it shots, it might take Hasvir, as a target of opportunity.
Also, that table.... I feel like it will be used as a shield or obstacle against us, what with the third arm on it's back.

It was entirely focused on us earlier, there's literally no reason for it to try anything against Hasvir

Sure. I can add that in.

This is possible. Not much we can do about it, I don't think. Like, that would foil one attack at most, and getting rid of it likely also takes one attack, so...

I tend to agree, but noting that we'll use a Halting Vortex to save him if it comes up costs us nothing. Like, it costs us if he's attacked, of course, but only then.

Gotta say, Hasvirquest is Not Happy right now being the damsel in distress.

Also Horra's really been powerlevelling his Shapecrafting ever since the Nisse.

He is right behind us though, and it's on the cautious phase now, and why not take the shot if it's in the right direction anyway?

Edit:
Sure. I can add that in.
Thanks, I know it's paranoid, but that set up just screams potshot to me.

Edit 2: forgot to vote....
[X] Plan Keep Hammering

Too bad we can't herd it in a corner, but guess that would be too much to ask for, with the interior so devestated.

Torsten's group has a ton of heavy hitters (or rather everyone in his group is a heavy hitter), they're fine.
My first thought was "wait, the elephant merchant is a heavy hitter? We barely know that guy!"

Then I realized that his chosen career path involves wandering the globe finding literal elephants and punching them in the face until they give up and stop fighting his attempt to bring them to fucking Norway on a medieval sailing vessel.

So yes, yes, he is probably a heavy hitter.

It also means he has a boat, so he's definitely a heavy hitter.

All the judges were almost certainly men of 30 or more, so I think he's a badass by that measure alone (as is Haleikr). Though perhaps not on, like, Steinarr's level.

But yes, there are multiple reasons to believe the elephant merchant specifically is even more badass than that.

The hope is that freezing it in place with IAT will allow much the same effect as that would, only more so.

Like, the ideal version of this turn for us is that we close the distance, it attacks us, gets Contested Movement counterattacked, attacks us again, gets frozen in place, and then we go to town for several attacks while it's stuck. How viable that is remains an open question, but it's the hope.

Is attackspeed relative or absolute?

Does Halla having Attack Speed 3 to Threaded Man's 5 mean it gets 3 attack for each of Halla's, or 5 attacks for every 3 of Halla's?

It got three attacks to Halla's one until she put up Mire Ward (Which also countered the third attack as Mire Ward is evidently a hard counter against projectile attacks), then she got three attacks in before it could break away.

Wait, does Mire Ward just lock down enemies straight to Speed 1 like Sten's Slow Windbolt?

Oh man, if that's the case then Mire Ward is awesome in a toe to toe fight. I totally see why we sometimes opt for it over Halting Vortex.

It actually only got two to one before the Mire Ward kicked in (two attacks from it/one from us/one from it...I guess two counting the projectile/Mire Ward kicks in), which tracks with it being 5 to 3.

Wait, does Mire Ward just lock down enemies straight to Speed 1 like Sten's Slow Windbolt?

Probably not, but I bet it rounds down and dropping its speed below ours is still pretty good...not when it's going for a grapple and we need to get in close, though, which is why no Mire Ward this turn (well, that and wanting to use IAT).

Also, could the Shapeshifting rules be pinned somewhere?

The Crafting Items defence bonuses being pinned somewhere would also be good.

Hopefully we get Shapeshifting Slots at a better than than 3 Infusions/Shapeshift.

These, the Alloy rules, and maybe the full gear list someone suggested a while back would be good.

I mean, you get one at Hamr 4, then another at Hamr 7 and every point of Hamr thereafter. So I'd assume we likewise get one per Hamr Infusion from Hamr Infusion 6 onward. Of course, getting Hamr Infusion 7 is wildly expensive (64 Odr!) and probably requires Hamr 8 as well, so...

We'd also presumably get another one for our Fylgja at Fylgja Infusion 6, which would help with Fasts at least, but that might be a little while (at 96 successes, that's nearly as far away as Hamr 8).

We can also get more from a Shapecrafter but that either involves a trip to Jurgby and a lot of money or trusting one of Horra's kids who knew about the Twisted Men to perform an operation on us which is, uh, perhaps ill-advised.

I just stuck the Shapeshifting rules in the main mechanics post, plus available shapeshifts. That's in hamr, of course.

I also added the types of death to the dying and continuing on section.

I'll add these when I get a chance... which might be a while for the gear list lmao. Not the most excited for that one

We will soon have a ship. Ships are a good way to get to faraway places and to obtain money (by going to faraway places and taking their money).

That's fair. It's not urgent or anything, especially the gear list which can likely just wait until the next time we go shopping.

Well yes. They can also be used for trade, which we may be doing next rather than raiding. I wasn't saying shapecrafting was impossible, just that it might be a minute.
