Question: what's Abjorn's TN here to count a success, or does he have abilities that modify this? If rolling a 4 is enough to get the job done, we might be getting our ticket punched here.

It's a total roll of 10 between both parents. Which means Abjorn and the Gods have heroically been doing their best to stop Halla from getting her way, hopefully until we can get Reinforce online so we can pass down The Bloody Basics--which is OP as hell as a basic package.

Cheap Dice Adders are amazing for low level combat. Having both as universal among all of our potential characters? We can do no better thing for them.

EDIT: Abjorn rolled 4 failures and 5 successes, which meant a net of 1 success.

4 is not enough to turn into 2 successes.

I mean, I'm personally grateful for the rolls working out as they have. With a bit of luck we might get Bloody Basics down before kids, which would be great. Given the dice pools and the frequency of rolling, we're almost certainly gonna have a kid within the year...the trick is to pick up the stuff we're aiming for first. I think we can probably do it if we pull off one more turn of not getting pregnant (being out raiding probably should penalize the roll...not as much time for that stuff).

In other news, Firebomb Strike is officially online and now cheap enough to use!

Which means we've got an alternative for Big damage that isn't "Take a big chance by doing a jump-chop." It'd also be pretty good at smashing through obstructions too. It's pretty much an artillery piece.

Ember-Winged Cloak needs a bit more work, but we can toss a die over there while raiding, and otherwise focus on Reinforce-Shield.

I wonder how Mastery's going to work with that? Just change it to 1 Orthstirr for 2 shield layers?

What does Reinforce do again?

Defensive equivalent of Hone--effectively a way to double our non-Trick based defenses and might give some DR too if it works like how Hone gives you an extra tick of damage as well as the extra die.

Interestingly, Hone is apparently considered the dividing line between people who just go out to bully others for profit and those who are genuine Warriors, but Reinforce is rare enough that the only one we've seen with it was that guy on the verge of stepping up to a mid-tier Viking, and that even Hallr never learned it before he died despite being an absolute unit (And Steinarr doesn't seem to know it either despite being close to 50 at this point)

It's funny though, the meat-keeping stick seemed kind of useless at first for such a decent roll on Bird Gacha, but it's turned out to be massively more useful to us than even the Bomb Shards.
Who would have thought that preserving thing's pretty much indefinitely is a lot more helpful in medieval times then a pseudo grenade in a place where every second could probably do a seemlier explosion by themselves.

Ah, okay. Had a brain fart and thought that Reinforce-Shield already did that. Oh, wait, right, yeah Hone can be added to defense. So will we need to wait and see?

Anyway, Honed Leaping-Cleave does more damage than Firebomb Strike, right? So we'll use Leaping-Cleave when we're sure we can get a hit in, and Firebomb Strike for any other occasion?

Or just a metric f ton of pseudo grenades. Spam the enemy to death.

Honed Leaping Cleave does the same damage at the same cost, but requires taking a risk and giving the other guy a chance to evade, but also strips defensive tricks and armor if it lands too.

Firebomb Strike meanwhile does significant collateral damage, which is good when you want an attack to strike a wide area, or you're attacking something really chonky.
 
Well I absolutely called there being another child making roll. Also it's hilarious you think them going raiding is going to stop them trying for a kid.

Explosions are rarer than that. Even most warriors of 20 don't actually have hugareida (they aren't uncommon, but it sounds like less than 50%), and of those who do, many will not be explosions. Our personal ability to do explosions, however, does decrease the utility a bit.
 
Something like that, yeah. I can't make it 0 cost (as it's both not perfected and that would be utterly absurd at this point in the story)

Yeah, and as has also been established, while it's a great defense against scrubs, it's mediocre against peers due to failing if magic is backing the incoming attack. As such, even if Perfected gives you insane efficiency, it's still not a great idea.

Anyway, I'm pleasantly surprised how we managed to get another 2 dice for Management even with how little we invested in it there.

Firebomb-Strike can deal 3-5, if you're super lucky

Oh, Firebomb-Strike can actually deal more damage if we're lucky. But I could've sworn that Leaping-Cleave is 3, and Honed Leaping-Cleave is 4?
