So, bearing that in mind, I'm thinking something like this:

[X] Plan Disarming Aggression
-[X] Tap frami, virthing, and saemd (+17 Orthstirr)
-[X] Assign 2 orthstirr to Defend (-2 Orthstirr)
-[X] 6 Attack
-[X] 6 Defense
-[X] Use Hone Trick on the last 5 attacks, and first two defenses (-7 Orthstirr)
-[X] Use Shatter-Wrist Trick to break his shield arm before making the Honed attacks (-2 Orthstirr)
-[X] Tactics
--[X] Get in close, make one attack, and then use Inertia-Arresting-Throw (-6 Orthstirr) to trap his spear when he attacks back with it
--[X] Break his wrist with Shatter-Wrist Trick to make his two shields less useful, trying twice if necessary
--[X] Stay close to keep his Wind hugareida less useful and go to town with our Honed axe

Basically, we charge, disarm him (hopefully canceling one attack as well given how that trick works), break his arm, and then go to town. Exact numbers adjusted if the above analysis is wrong about how many combat dice we wind up with.

EDIT: Some people prefer to avoid the shatter-wrist trick, so here's a variant for that:

[ ] Plan A Good Clean Fight
-[ ] Tap frami, virthing, and saemd (+17 Orthstirr)
-[ ] Assign 3 orthstirr to Defend (-3 Orthstirr)
-[ ] 7 Attack
-[ ] 6 Defense
-[ ] Use Hone Trick on the last 6 attacks, and first two defenses (-8 Orthstirr)
-[ ] Tactics
--[ ] Get in close, make one attack, and then use Inertia-Arresting-Throw (-6 Orthstirr) to trap his spear when he attacks back with it
--[ ] Stay close to keep his Wind hugareida less useful and go to town with our Honed axe

I'm ambivalent, but sticking with my first vote for the moment since I can apparently only vote for one.

I do think that you need more offensive capabilities. Shatter-Wrist is good, but it's not much of a damage-dealer. Hone's also great, but it also isn't all that much of a damage dealer, when it comes down to fighting at adult levels.
Hmm, are there other attack-based tricks to learn? We can make our axe sharper, but how about heavier, increasing its mass so it can hit harder? Or larger, making an orthstir field around it that's essentially a bigger axe?

So the plan is to hope that Halla can tank whatever attack he sends at her with his hugareidr? Does Hone Trick allow a non-trick defence to defend against trick attacks?

His hugareida is primarily ranged and he hopefully can't do it too often. The idea is that getting up in his face will limit his ability to do it. But also I'm pretty sure we actually don't have a choice but to take it...our current Standstill trick does not, to my knowledge, work on non-physical attacks like blades of wind, and even if it did, he can make such attacks cheaper than we can block them. Getting into that competition is a loss condition. If we can defend against it with Hone that's great, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Both of those issues with our defenses are probably solved by our forthcoming Reinforce-Shield Trick but that's still a work in progress.

Big brother is leaving, to start a new life in a different city and marry.
And our last action?
Spar with him and go for "a bit of a dick move".

Giving your siblings shit has a long and proud tradition. This qualifies. And hey, I avoided the Knee-Groin Trick, so it could definitely be worse.

If you prefer a clean fight version without the Shatter-Wrist Trick that's definitely doable. I'd probably even throw it an approval vote if it's substantially the same otherwise.

It is effective and I can believe Halla would do it, just noting that she's being kind of an asshole.

A little bit, yeah, but it seems within the scope of siblings giving each other a hard time and we gave him good, solid, follow your dreams advice last time, so I don't think it's too over the top.

Also, honestly, 'train as you fight' is an important principle...being aware of and able to deal with people trying to break his arm might save his life if and when he next gets in a real fight.
