The New World:
Two Years Later
----------------------------------
Sunstone Castle was still a ruin, scorched from the damages of siege and the desolation of weather and war. Yet even as it stood as a broken shell, the people that were coming, were far more willing to just, ignore the scar upon the landscape. They had lived to continue after all, and they would continue the work, as they did.
Ten thousand came on the first ships from Westeros, and there were thousands of more moving across Westeros, to the ports of Gulltown, White Harbor, King's Landing, and even Saltpans. Thousands of white-haired and purple eyes scamper without home or hearth to call their own, people, who had only a language, and a faint understanding of what they could even call home.
They had no home, for Valyria was gone. The Valyrians did not belong anywhere in this world, left to travel aimlessly.
No longer.
As they came, they brought as many things as they could. Food, tools. And above all else, skills.
You would need them all.
But it was not what worried you the most.
Quite the opposite in fact. The people coming were not something you fretted or worried about. It was the ceremony of the whole thing.
They expected you to be a distant, almost god-like figure, riding his dragon towards his subjects, or slaves if you heard the whispers right, but they were not exactly the most numerous or loud.
Any man who considered you a slaver would be reminded just how much you despised the practice.
But when you awoke, half disheveled and with small clothes still on you, you were reminded of the politics of the matter. The Sea Snakes banners had been across the horizon, and you knew that there was one last thing to be done, to cement your control over the Stepstones. One last thing to keep you from being removed.
Laena Velareyon awaits, to be wed to you, the final wife of your trio.
You stretched and rolled your neck as you felt a hand hold yours. You turned back to see Alicent and Rhaenyra, snuggling with each other, your children snuggling with them, both hugging as they snored.
Winter was here, and even in this south, there was cold. And it was warmer together than it was alone.
But then you saw Alicent wake, her slumber disturbed by your gaze. She moved, standing up and awakening everyone else. "Something wrong?" she asked, as the children started pulling Rhaeynra's hair, as they always did, as she awoke.
Rhaenyra was never happy to be awoken early, but to the children, she made exceptions, making faces and picking them up into a hug before they hugged her back. "Come on you two, let's see if we can break our fast."
She knew you needed to be alone, at least for the moment. Alicent was always the more practical one of the two. Always the one who understood your mind when it came to politics.
Although Rhae was getting better at it. She also was the far better mother of your children. She just had an understanding that Alicent… lacked.
She walked behind you and placed her hands on your chest, trying to see what you did from behind. "If it's about Laena-"
"Laena is not the problem, it's Corlys. He will want to make demands."
"We've already been over this, you have made your word final. He will have to accept or lose you as an ally." There was a pause, before you turned around, holding her chilled hands.
"Cold my dear?" You asked, a smile rising up your face, for but a brief moment, before a luminescent blush rose on Alicent's face.
"It's winter." She said without missing a beat, before slipping through your fingers. "It's much warmer together than it is alone."
You then sighed. "It's only going to be for a few days. Laena will… decide if we move forward with consummation, not before."
Alicent then sat down on the bed and crossed her legs. "We could always get her in the mood?" She said.
That made you frown. "No, you and Rhaenyra are not seducing her."
"Why not, it could be fun." Alicent gave a warm, but mischievous smile. Ever since you got married, it was… well you weren't going to say anything, but she enjoyed the company of your bed chamber far more than you on occasion. "I mean, think about it for a moment-"
"We have, remember, and I disagreed with it. If she's still a maid, I want to make it special, not abusing her emotions like she's a doll. I have to care for her feelings, just as much as I cared for your own when we first married. Or have you forgotten?"
Alicent paused and then felt a deal of shame. "Is it wrong that my worst fear was becoming a broodmare to you, you neglecting my needs for Rhaenyra's? Or worse, ignoring us both?"
"I remember, quite intently." You stated as you held out your hand. "Now, we have a meal with our family to attend to."
She took it without a second thought.
---------------------------------------------------------------
The Wedding was at midday, when the clouds cleared and the sun shone warmly on the sea. The Volcano's face was crowded, with the Great Dragon Vhaegar nesting on its face, while Syrax and the Grey Ghost circled around, trying their best to avoid the smaller dragons that were, like kittens to their mother, annoying Vhaegar.
Your Brothers Dragons were indeed acting like kittens, with no sense of boundaries to the Elder Dragon, and she did not try to… ignore them.
But f they went too close to her tail, and face. Well, she disciplined them. There were small holes in the wings of the dragon, from the teeth.
But as you prepared, you looked at the hat, and the white costume, slowly drawing the line with blood from your thumb, and you saw your family move ever so closer. You than saw the bright blue cloak that covered Laena.
But she let it off, revealing the same white robes, slowly being drawn with her blood.
It was time to bind yourselves together.
The Stormsinger made the first cut on your lips, as he sang a small hymm of Old Valyria, of bonding and commitment, a tale for dragons, just as it was for husbands and wives. Every song had meaning.
"And I bind myself, to you, granting my blood." Laena spoke, as she placed blood on your forehead.
"And I bind myself to you, granting my blood." You repeated as you marked her.
The Dragonglass dagger cut your hands and you placed them together, having them wrapped together, and bleed through the ceremonial cloth. You were bound forever.
You looked back for one moment, to see Rhaenyra, happiness on her face at the ceremony, while Alicent was… rightfully, confused, and of course, sick and queasy.
She did not understand, at least fully, the custom of mixing blood for marriage.
The Wine came moments after, to numb the pain, and to provide a simple relief, as the ceremony was close to an end.
"I am yours." Laena said.
"And you are mine." You said.
The traditional Westerosi marriage pact. She was under your protection, and you were her caretaker.
In theory. But she was now your partner.
Your wife, and hopefully, your friend.
