While I like Cython, I think there's a substantial difference between "have a dragon protector that isn't that smart yet" and "practically co-owned by a very intelligent and cunning dragon".

The dragon for the Vault is handled - For the Library, Cython would be the one who handles. The latter is rather more intimidating.

A librarian is more than just an employee, they have a traits and personalities of their own, they add to the library identity and ambient.
A focused researcher may know exactly what book they want and pay no mind on how to get it but a young curious scholar may not be sure what he needs, experienced librarians are good in recommendations and pointers.

The We will be an efficient worker and get the book you want in no time... but is that really necessary for a library? Other options (except Dragon) may commit mistakes about book availability but its IMO a price to pay for variety. Why variety? Even if The We librarian can communicate well (which only writing makes difficult) it will still have only a singular mind and opinion, and I dont like it when I can have humans, halflings and dwarves staff voice theirs.

Im entire aware the We will have their own perks and also enrich the library identity, I just ask people see past efficiency and cool.

What you want the Library face and voice be like?

This is not the school for baby scholars though, this is a library filled with rare precious and rather dangerous books at the edge of the world. If you are willing to make the dangerous journey out here I think it is fair to say you do not need an emotional support librarian of the correct race and type of smile.
 
Also, on the topic of "Why is the Old World so important?"

It's the only major trunk of the Waystone Network that goes north to south that isn't controlled by complete assholes or blocked by a mountain range or something. Take a look at the geography of the world and you'll see what I mean. On the west is Naggaroth and Malekith will happily see the world burn if it hurts everyone else slightly more, and on the east is the Kurgans and all the other super nomadic Chaos tribes who will subvert anything standing and are almost comically, farcially evil as written (And even cut down to something more reasonable by Boney's worldbuilding, they're still not exactly nice people).

Only the Old World has a land route to the northern pole that isn't controlled by assholes who'll pull brinksmanship games and burn the entire world down to get their way.

Is the journey really that dangerous? Cant you just travel to Barak Varr and from there its pretty close
 
to put myself off the We librarians, I watched the follow the Spiders scene from Harry Potter, and the Mirkwood scene.

That'll have you noping out of the We vote :V

I don't think most of the people who's confidence is boosted by its presence know the Imperial Dragon isn't smart. Doesn't sound like common knowledge considering Mathilde didn't know, and she has far more ability to be informed about dragons than most people accepting a note would.

The journey from the next village over is already dangerous, this is a death world. Traveling from say Reikland all the way to K8P is the sort of journey a sensible person writes their last will and testament before embarking on. Being a magic casting sword fighting hero has rather warped Mathilde's notion of how dangerous the world is.

Sorry. Sometimes words are hard and I use them the wrong way.
My point is: If someone is wealthy or has influence or just strong enough to travel to K8P in search of some knoweldge, I doubt that presence of spiders would stop them. Even if you, for some reasons, do not trust the promises of safety, granted by Grey Lady Magister and K8P King simultaneously, there are plenty of ways to not be alone with those spiders.

While I think what we have here is enough for a Solid paper on it, even now I'd say we still have three or four avenues of exploration left before we can truly write the book on it. If that is, in fact the goal.

As the single biggest open question, enchanting with it is still on the table; (which might or might not involve Max given some of what we've learned and suspect) but even beyond that weaponizing isn't popular but remains an option; learning power stone creation methods would both open up a line of research and could grant insights into what's going on here; (and perhaps also on how to progress towards implementing the Orbs of Sorcery prototype) and additionally, we now have the new question of finding a way to observe the moment of transformation more closely.
