Might seem a bit of a weird question, but how is the Somali Democratic Republic doing in this timeline? I think they were communists in the 70s.

The Bloodless Coup was, in this timeline, very much not bloodless. In fact, it was a bloody, drawn-out civil war in which thousands died from each side, devastating the country.

However, due to keen and, importantly, uncorrupted leadership and smart economic measures, the country quickly rebounded, with some enthusiasts speaking of a "Minor Economic Wonder" happening in the SDR.

The main thing that surprised many, and led the country to become a leader in East-Africa, was the uprising of culture, art, religion, customs, and identity in a coherent harmony with humanist and progressive views. Other countries suffer from their Imperialist Past and the scars inflicted upon them, like Kongo, South Africa, and more, but the SDR is walking toward a bright future for its people, who believe that they can create a country to be genuinely proud of.

These are actually people we want to befriend because they have an absolutely *chef kiss* strategic location. Great for space launch, right on the Gulf of Aden. One of the future Orbital Ring countries for sure.

Yeah, with both of these together, we should really befriend these guys and make sure they don't get fucked over by other nations or circumstance. Also their Cultural revolution would be a great boon to our Movie making efforts, would let us add a great new flavor to our stories.

[X] Plan the Computer tells us we need more food.
-[x] Agri-, And Aquaculture (+2 to Farming/Animal Husbandry (Chinese Experts), +2 to Farming/Fishing/Animal Husbandry (Technocrats))
--[x] Expand Kelp Harvesting Operations (Very Helpful) (-3 Reputation) (+1 People's Opinion): The harvesting process can be improved by allowing the kelp to grow on lines that float on the surface, such that they can be easily harvested by boat without the need for divers.

--[x] Find The Tapes (+2 to Counter-Intelligence/Propaganda Actions)
---[x] While we've already personally been "punished" for setting up the cameras, the missing tapes present what could become a serious issue. Best case scenario one of our bodyguards just took and destroyed them to try to protect our image. Worst case scenario video showing the layout the residential wing and our children's room have just ended up in the hands of foreign agents. Not to mention that the... contents... of the tapes might harm our ability to conduct international diplomacy.
-[x] Secret Project
--[x] Mingxiang CyberSyn System (Mega-Project - 8/8 Actions) (-15 Reputation)
-[x] Wei Jungming - (RP)
--[x] Personal Action: Spend time going over reports on the Chinese situation. Try to keep up to date to avoid getting blindsided by whoever wins, maybe see if there is anywhere you might be able to put a finger on the scales to ensure a more favorable outcome for Guangchou, but you aren't planning on actually doing any operations for now, at least until you get a better picture.
-[x] Lover Action: Mai is heading into a very taxing time, so Jungmin is going to be there to make her take time off and relax with him. They could both really use it and Jungmin will hopefully be able to moderate Mai's desire to get back in shape after childbirth to something less taxing for her. Also, Jungmin is going to get a vasectomy. For everyone's sake.

Not to argue too much as it is your quest, but NZ had trade with Peru and Chile at this time, both countries had a military dictatorship.
NZ at this time was hit hard by their major trading partners putting quotas on food imports (UK,USA)
I won't argue more.

I don't think it sounds as stepping on the GM's toes if your bring up relevant information like this - nobody can know everything. Having said that, were Peru and Chile communist? I know the CIA just did a regime change in Chile.

That I don't know, I'm coming from a NZ needs trade perspective.
NZ got stiffed hard by their big allies (small who cares attitude) in a few years NZ will go from pretty socialist to full free market sell all state assets (even discussed selling the roads) as trade deficit started to hurt.
NZ is at this time reaching out to everyone close, SEA, Japan, the south pacific islands and South America, major trade goods is wool, mutton, a growing dairy industry.
So while NZ is aligned with the west, it started looking out for itself post war. I.E has ambassadors with China in 1972.
NZ's focus is on developing the pacific, heavily involved in the UN and I think would be a good friend if we went and said hello.
There is a cool document on stats nz I got this info from. Official yearbook 1975 a good read if your interested.
