[X] Father and Foundations Deluxe

So long as we are using the Father face, I want to test it on Bretonnia. And I worry that if we don't do it here we will never do it because we won't want to flip the coin to Father for one action. We can do the AV testing on any face, but testing the Lady is a Daughter theory only happens on this face.

Just want to remind all the book mining people that we are looking for a library under a bunch of rubble that's been rained on for ten years.

There's a strong chance the vast majority is too damaged to be recoverable. Already.

Maybe the stuff in Drakenhof itself, but the stuff in the Black Library should be fine.

-[X] Plan Father and Foundations Deluxe
Be advised that this vote is causing issues with the tally for two separate reasons:
  1. You have the - at front, meaning the tally is grouping it as a subsection of Plan Who's Your Father rather than counting it as a vote in its own right
  2. The name of mathymancer's plan is [] Father and Foundations Deluxe, not Plan Father and Foundations Deluxe, so you'd need to change the name anyway.
(Incidentally, for the record: it is not just out of respect for custom that plan votes start with the word Plan. If you look at the tally, you'll notice that it is separately tallying votes for Father and Foundations Deluxe and votes that copy-paste the entire block of subvotes, as opposed to other plans where a vote for the plan name and a vote for the fully copy-pasted plan are automatically counted together. This is because the tally looks for the magic word Plan in order to trigger that behavior. It's probably too late for mathymancer and the other people who made plans that don't start with Plan to fiddle with their naming without confusing matters further, but it's useful info for anyone else who wants to make one.)

The stuff in the black library was made in a underground cavern designed by vampires. I doubt it had any leaks since if water did ever get to it it be gone centuries ago. Really it depends on what kind of rock the cavern is. A lime stone or salt cavern would prevent water from getting to any books. Really salt would be the best. Or maybe the vampires used magic since it is a warhammer setting.

Approvalvoting anything with Bookmining. The plans arent that different that I wouldnt be ok with just about all of them, I just think we should do this as fast as possible. I dont quite get the rush to open up the library. Yes, it would be nice and all, but its not really time sensitive.

That, and the risk that it would be another AP sink just like the Library while we're launching the crowning achievement of our carreer.
Why would it become another AP sink? It's still the EIC.

How can anything that we've left to sit for 11 years be considered time sensitive? If something specific had happened last turn that triggered this becoming an option this turn then that would be something different. But nothing changed in the last ~2 years (when we got that Library).
Also, the reasoning behind not using our fief as a ninja village is to not put it in harm's way?
Personally I'd rather have the HQ be at the fief. At least it would give us a reason to visit it more often than once every 10 years.

But we won't be the ones profiting from it!

And the most important thing we wouldn't be profiting from is the knowledge we'd gain. As the Empire's woman on sight from the intrigue perspective, getting visibility on incipient problems for Imperial-Eonir relations before they happen is valuable for us.

We don't want our work on the Waystones messed up because some merchant got greedy and was stupid and pissed the Eonir off.

Why would it become another AP sink? It's still the EIC.
Because we would have to organise the damn thing, choose the various things to do there, design the cursus etc.
Personally I'd rather have the HQ be at the fief. At least it would give us a reason to visit it more often than once every 10 years.
And for me it would be another distraction. I don't really want to see the fief anymore, I'd prefer to do and see other things.

It was always time sensitive. We just lacked the ability to do much about it so didn't think about an unsolvable problem.

That doesn't mean there wasn't a problem. Now we have both means and opportunity to deal with it. We always had the motive.

While plot armor is a hell of a thing, the cavern was built out prior to a week-long artillery barrage sufficient to crack open and reduce to rubble the entire top of the mountain. Assuming that the castle can be leveled without even cracking the cave that the black library is in seems far too optimistic.

The vault want built to survive the complete destruction of the castle, after all- the castle came first.

So my bet is that the first few years were just damp, but freeze/thaw would crack open tiny cracks into much larger ones, and after a decade I'd imagine many of the bindings have burst from swelling and many of the loose scrolls or pages are unreadable from mold.

We haven't seen any spells of preservation in the lores the vampires can cast, have we?

Just because we haven't seen them doesn't mean they aren't there.

Also. The discussion and such gets really heated in here. It's almost amusing.

I am very, very close to creating a full argument why the next major project should be a Moon Programme.

Why? Fun.

Ok since the castle was skyscraper big the foundation of the castle had to be strong enough and water proof enough to not fail. So even if it cracked the foundation the foundation would have had to be strong enough to withstand centuries of wear and tear. Otherwise the library would have been destroyed already. So we are looking at a granite foundation most likely. That would be above the cavern itself. With the size of the castle we are talking about several meters thick of foundation. And when I say meters I mean 5 or more. The tallest building go 85 meters in real life. There is a reason dawi are going to be used to dig. As for magic vampires are not limited to one wind and can use everything but life.

The HQ would be the Hochlander's to manage. And we're voting for an HQ, not a ninja school. The Hochlander can teach his staff what he wants if he wants to. And if we want to do more with it, we'd do it with EIC AP, just like we do now. Hard enough to find stuff to do with it every single turn consistently anyway.
And for me it would be another distraction. I don't really want to see the fief anymore, I'd prefer to do and see other things.
I don't even care about getting an HQ. I just think that if we get one, I'd rather it be the fief than the sunken palace. And the sunken palace is currently in the top three winning plans while the fourth is a plan I'd never vote for.

It hasn't been unsolvable since at least turn 36. That's two turns ago.

(checks tally) It seems like I have very different ideas about what actions would be interesting than everybody else. I don't want to disregard WEBMAT, but everybody seems to be playing into a variation on something like that. I don't want to do the Father and I don't want to do the Hedgewise, and those things aren't even connected, I just don't want to do either one. I want to set up the shadow HQ in the fief, not the Sunken Palace, but even though I made my arguments and at least some people got on board, no plans other than my own (which is getting no votes) are doing that.

I'm just out of tune with the other posters, I guess.
