I am not sure we we can lay Drycha's characterization at the feet of GW having an agenda, the Asrai in general were made worse and worse in later edition in a way that feels biased as hell, but Drycha was always shown as having been Fallen, she is the worst of their policy and the representative of their darker impulses, nature wounded yes, but also lashing out in bloody rage and endless spite. Those are the kinds of themes you find all over the sort of fantasy that inspired the setting, including the Lord of the Rings (the Old Forest and the 'black hearted hurons' of Fangorn).
Drycha was not always shown as having been fallen. She loved Elves in 4th Edition. It was 6th Edition, the beginning of the Asrai becoming the worst of the worst, that made her evil.

For our purposes it does not matter, we are not trying to argue philosophy with her, she is here, she is trying to kill our allies, we have to either drive her off or kill her, it is that simple.
I wasn't really interested in the IC-sense. More like I know so little about warhammer I was curious about this character.

Canon doesn't give any solid answers about what her underlying motivation is. Could be hatred, grief, loyalty, irredentism, insanity, Chaos corruption, or just because she's a designated villain. So an evaluation of how valid her beliefs might be can't really be made from canon materials.
If there exists any story from her POV, then I don't know it. She was never really given the time of day. It's probably why she's so one dimensional. Another reason being that GW probably either disdain enviromental activists and are presenting her as a caricature of one, or they just made a character and didn't realise the implications of making her like that.
Explains a lot, I guess I was expecting someone like Egrimm which is why I asked so much in the way I did. I did try to check the wiki, but while short was dense and the synopsis was lacking as to her character.

I did understand a lot from this though so thanks a bunch.

"Drycha has dwelt in the Forest of Loren at least as long as the Wood Elves and she was one of the first Dryads to befriend them. Since then she has appeared many times leading other Dryads to help the Elves in their battles against the invaders of the Forest" Page 78 Wood Elves 4th Edition Army Book

This is Drycha's first appearance in Warhammer.

YOLO

... Actually, wouldn't the Flask work on Drycha, too? Might be too risky though if we need a follow-up.
If we hit her, it will definitely hurt. If. The flask is better at hitting big, slow moving targets than single more-or-less human size single combatants who can dodge more easily, or teleport away. Using the flask also prevents us from talking for a few instants, which mean we won't be able to cast. If Drycha isn't neutralised by our first strike, we will be extremely vulnerable.

If we go for Leader, I think Branhulune is better than the flask. But I hope we won't go for it.

I'm probably going to be flip-flopping all over this vote.

My gut reaction is Spellcasters.

BUT, the Forest literally helped us find Drycha.

That's encouraging but I'm not sure what kind of assistance it could give us if we decide to engage Drycha. On the other hand, if we don't engage her on our terms we give her all the initiative to chose her own target and engage whenever she feels like it.
The usual Avatar modifiers to start, I'd think. We're already seeing some of the narrative symptoms of a dice bonus tagged ???, after all.

Also, presumably some native Spites since the foreign thoughts pointedly refer to how Drycha being disliked is why she's not getting any of the locals.

Makes me wonder if the Forest is having trouble pinning her down to a single place to dogpile and if a dashing lord magister might not be able to change that.

We'll just have to trust the people we brought with us to geek the spellcasters. OOC every one of these flash points is down to a roll, so.

I'll always advocate for an overabundance of caution, and this prevents both enemy Battle Magic and possibly losing the forest's assistance. And if that puts the army in general at a greater risk of Drycha attacking, well. So be it. Drycha is outside Mathilde's weight class, as as a heavily experienced Ulgu user we can't count on Mathilde's abilities to be enough to tilt things in her favor. I don't want to bet Mathilde's life on Branulhune carrying the day when Mathilde likely can't fall back on her shadow magic if things go wrong. (Especially as Mathilde is still yet to complete her Mastery skill.)

You know the fact that we do not have a means of communicating with the soldiers and telling them to kill the spell casters has gotten me thinking about what we could make with wind-herder. We could mix illusion to amplify the user's voice with one of the moral boosting fire magic spells for something like a general's horn.

Of course it would not help that much now because we do not know how to say 'kill those dryads' in Kislevitan... another action we might want to take. Hopefully we will get a bit of progress on that out of this arc, but even if not I think that it would serve us well in the future.

But isn't the manticore in the air, the spellcasters in the enemy backline, and the leader hiding outside the the battle?
The Flask has relatively high spread. We do not know where the leader is, and idk what the position of the spellcasters is. The manticore is valid, but its about to swoop so, who knows.

Even if we don't beat Drycha, an alpha strike from stealth followed by a retreat will seriously crimp her style and significantly reduce her chances of being able to tableflip this whole engagement - and between the Belt and Seed, Mathilde has the gear to survive this, I think.
