When we were pondering looking at an Amber to see if their spell contained bound apparitions we were told it would be noticeable unless we had an excuse like something else in the nearby vicinity. So probably it's something other wizards can react too, but the resolution is fuzzy.

Whether or not it's detectable depends on the Magesight of both the person looking and the person being looked at. Mathilde's is more 'active' in that she consciously chooses what to focus on so it's possible that someone who also has Magesight could pick up on it, while someone with more 'passive' Magesight might be able to get away with it more. Grey Wizards in particular are likely to try to hone the ability to sense if they're being watched, so not Magesight-staring at each other has become part of the Grey College's social conventions. But Regimand specifically is the one who taught Mathilde how to use Magesight in the first place, so more than pretty much anyone else he'd be likely to pick up on it if she tried to eyeball him.

Grudged: Arcane Khazalid lets us listen in on how Bok's internal code works, we copy it out and pass that on to the College.

Favored: Arcane Khazalid lets us read the user manual of Bok in its soul, and we copy it out for Kragg. We keep our mouth shut about it.

Not grudged: Arcane Khazalid lets us see how Bok's internal code works, we use that to derive process on how Wind magic can create an independent construct(or couple that with the Apparition lore to make a whole new thing) and publish that to the Grey College. This is incidentally what we've been doing with the Liber Mortis.

We can expect to be Grudged if there is some knowledge that the Runesmiths know that is only accessible to them and it gets leaked, AND we cannot prove to satisfaction that it was arrived at from independent work.
And also that we publish it publicly rather than heavily classified(which we've done with a number of sensitive research topics), but I don't think we're even doing that much.
 
So weird thought but Mathilde may be doing the counter ritual to the Slannesh ritual. In that is is both murderous and ambitious to attack from the shadows after hunting her prey. It is a real Tzeentch or Khorne kind of move.
 
@Derpmind Steed of Shadows can be cast on the Wizard OR on someone else. It doesn't only affect someone else.

I expected that response, so I'm not saying anything else. The thread will never vote to learn non fog based Battle Magic and I've accepted that.
 
If tabletop bears any relationship to fluff for these things, then Steed of Shadows lets you go more than half again as far

Boney has already said that anything we derive from Arcane Khazalid also counts as Runesmith secrets. And if you don't think the Dawi would find "I came up with it independently after I came up with it not-independently" sorely wanting, I have a bridge to sell you.

Even if what we derive from Arcane Khazalid counts as Runesmith secrets, I'm not sure that gives us any obligation to tell the Dawi just what those secrets are. At which point with sufficient obscuration - which, note, would be a higher amount than for the Liber Mortis, as nobody even has cause to suspect that we might have that, but still in principle it seems achievable - the "came up with it non-independently" bit wouldn't have to be known to anyone.

In the specific instance of doing stuff derived from Bok, Kragg would know. And if he even had an inkling that we'd broken faith he'd bring a throng down on us.

Likewise Thorek if its anything even close to relevant to waystones.

Can I tempt you to support apparation binding faction? It is battle magic but risks are different than normal and it is very cool.

I mean, I've always been part of the faction. If Apparition binding means we get a flying horse than all the better, but I don't know any flying horse apparitions.
 
Lucky guy. Seems like we might be getting more resistance than expected. I like that. Makes things more exciting

I don't care much about flying horses, but I definitely want our own Nazguls. Riding like thunder across the countryside followed by dark riders is too awesome an idea not to consider. Normally I'm opposed to decision taken on a purely fun/awesome factor, but it seems I'm not so above it:V
