Not so suddenly if people payed attention to the Karag Dum expedition and the whole "Pulling Vlag out of the Warp" thing, which might not be available to the general public but certainly to the Colleges.
And now for my next trick, i shall outdo the light patriarch at beating chaos!

The rune blade went Snicker-snack,
And with his head, she went gallumping back

Fair point (Vlag is probably fairly public since it is a Hold dragged out of the Warp and with both Kislev and the Karaz Ankor knowing who did it - so Luitpold would want to brag).

It still showcases yet another skill Mathilde has since catching cultists is very different from disrupting large scale spells.

Haven't read the whole discussion yet, but would Dragonflask or Branulhune be more deceptive?

We do want the credit though?

We do want the credit though?
The grey college will know its us, through Regimand, so we will get credit that way regardless.
However, our mission is not to get credit here, instead it is to:
1) Inform Mira what Alric is doing, by killing the daemon we have gone a step beyond by denying Alric the credit. This occurs even if no-one know we killed the daemon, they will know that it wasn't Alric
2) Prevent Heidi's secret from being exposed/Heidi being accused of being a chaos cultist. By killling the daemon we decrease this risk since it can't subsequently talk.

And now for my next trick, i shall outdo the light patriarch at beating chaos!

It would be a bigger deal if he hadn't lost to Dragomas a year ago without Dragomas turning into a Dragon, his trump card. Taking the credit just shows that he's washed up and doesn't deserve Patriarch position more than it cements Mathilde's prestige.

I'm not sure how public the knowledge is that Alric lost because Dragomas shouted at him (yes, I know technically Dragomas used a spell, but I don't care), but it does make besting him less impressive.

At the very least every Lord Magister and Patriarch and likely the Colleges themselves know, and so does the entirety of the Witch Hunters, who saw it all firsthand because they were there, and the Magisters Vigilant and Battle Wizards in charge of destroying any would be Horx. The Duels are a far more public event than would be expected because of the Night of a Thousand Arcane Duels. Which, as a reminder, he was the Supreme Patriarch during that time.

[X] Kill: Dragonflask

This overgrown Psychic Type Pokémon has the moves Sweet Scent and Hypnosis, I would rather not get in close range of him if possible.
This has me convinced.

[X] Kill: Dragonflask

If we do use sword though, I wonder if we'll be doing so while Invisible, and woth smoke amd mirrors.

Eh. That'd prbly depend on our rolls/is below our level of grsnularity.

Its really hilarious to imagine from Alric's point of view...he spends gods know how long warding up that spa, allowing one victim to be taken, as far as anybody knows, out from under his nose.

And then a pair of Grey Wizards, one a Lord Magister, show up out of nowhere and capture the murderer pretty much as a parent-child bonding activity. If he probes further, while they're having fun in the nearby pubs pranking each other. They were literally racing each other at crime scenes.

He'd detonate.

Honestly whether it is the Alric Negaverse quest or the Cultist negaverse quest I can imagine the players screaming BS about Mathilde and company suddenly showing up as third parties.

I wonder if the Holy fire will interact with taal flavour holy water
Fire is part of the cycle of life for death and rebirth, as forest fires are known to be vital to the continuation of the cycle (assuming it's controlled). Taal is the God of Nature. But the fire that uh... let me check my notes... Jovi Suncryer created was made of Hysh, so I don't know if the themes fit. It depends on the way that winds interact with concepts I guess.

I don't expect to get an actual tangible reward if we end up doing this and sabotaging Alric's credit. My feeling is that Mira would be incredibly grateful, but this wasn't part of the contract and I will NOT vote to squeeze her for a little more. I'd vote for Mathilde to say you're welcome and go. What we might get is something more ephemeral.

Mira liking us.

Yes it's less tangible than a reward. I might have preferred that. But if sabotaging Alric was part of the contract and Mathilde did it that's just part of the contract and she'll be rewarded. Goodwill is limited for just doing what you promised to. Going above and beyond? That usually means gratitude and someone liking you. Will Mira liking us have a direct benefit immediately? Probably not. Will it boost relations and make it easier to work with her, one of the most powerful possible contacts in the Colleges? My belief is probably yes. Mathilde didn't network all that often in the Colleges, but there are few contacts worth cultivating in the Colleges more than a Matriarch.
Ehhhh. I'd normally be for this, but because I want to play to expectations as much as possible to help hide our actual goal, rather than ask for nothing I'd like to hint to Mira that we'd appricate any more help with the Waystone project she could reasonably shake out.

Gratitude after the fact gets us much less than a deal made beforehand, but not trying to get stuff might make Mira question our motivations more than a gentle attempt for more reward.

Unrelated: If reasonably convienent, I'd like to search the manor's hidden rooms for interesting/enchanted/cursed things and then point the local Ranaldites at it if there is also a window of oppertunity for them after we have checked it.

If Alberich is a psychic pokemon, shouldn't we use a dark type (eg. shadow knives) attacks against him?
Not fully. One of his three known mutations is a Hypnotic Gaze, but the second is Musk, which is a physical thing (or I think it's supposed to be one) that you physical smell, and the third is a grotesque fleshy arm. I don't know if there's a Flesh Type Pokemon, but he would fit in that category.

Aside from the fact that I'm super uncomfortable with asking someone for payment for something we did that they didn't ask for, even if it's just cheeky winking, I would vastly prefer the goodwill that not sullying it with a request would bring. Also, there are plenty of reasons that Mathilde could have decided to do this that Mira could find out if she has the details, which she should because she's effectively the matriarch of the Light Order.

If Mira knows that Alberich was the target, it's an incredibly easy conclusion to come to why she intervened, considering she's a Stirlander who worked seven years as a councillor there right after he disappeared and she's friends with the Empress, who is ostensibly from the same family. Getting Alberich dealt with looks to Mira like a request from the Empress. Can't have the public learn that a Haupt-Anderssen was behind the murders.

We're using a steel type move (behemoth blade), because we want it to be super effective against Alric (fairy type). The item that we are holding boosts steel type moves effective enough that we don't really need the type advantage when attacking from hiding
