@BoneyM , do any of these guys know anything about Waystones, or do we need to send them to class if we want them informed enough to be useful? Or is the class too simplistic to help?
We then gave them a basic rundown, and they could have read the books on them we have in our library.Have either of you gone through the Waystone course at the Colleges?"
"As an apprentice," Max says uncertainly. "I think I remember some of it."
"I was warned not to try to cast Breach the Unknown on any part of it. Apparently the spell tries to encompass the entire network, and you probably won't survive to see Frederheim."

Your plan has room for one more WEB-MAT action—we get an extra one for every 2 AP we spend there.
Do you struggle to remember the members of the Colleges of Magic in Divided Loyalties, and wish there was a resource that listed them all and who they are? Then you're in luck, because I spent way too much time on this. Please tell me if I missed anyone or made any mistakes.
Patriarchs:
Dragomas: 21st, 22nd, 23rd and now 24th Supreme Patriarch, as well as Wild Father of the Amber Order. Travelled to the Far East through the Dark Lands and negotiated a non-aggression pact with Cathay's Emperor as a Journeyman, leading him to be instantly promoted to Lord Magister after returning. Became Amber Patriarch after hatching and raising the Imperial Dragon in the Imperial Zoo, and achieved Supreme Patriarch after turning into a Celestial Dragon during the Duels. Fought for the rights of Battle Wizards, greatly improving their life and gaining their loyalty, and he spends a lot of time in the Imperial Zoo. Can casually turn into a Celestial Dragon with Transformation of Kadon and he's stronger than a regular dragon transformation, making him dominant in combat. As the Supreme Patriarch, he is the Emperor's Court Wizard and advisor to all matters magical.
Dragomas is always half naked, with furs serving as "pants" after he was eventually convinced that he should do that. He has wiry, lean muscles and tanned skin from a lifetime spent under the sun, and has long dark hair and beard.Paranoth the Wanderer: 19th Supreme Patriarch, defeating Alric once before being defeated by him next term. Known as the Wanderer, a title he lives up to as it is said he walked every road in the Old World, Araby and Ind. Believed by many to be powerful enough to be Supreme Patriarch but lacking inclination to do so.Norbert Reichtard: Described as "not a risk taker". Has to constantly clarify that he has no relation to Screaming Lord Reichtard, infamous Lord Magister of the Bright Order known for being the first person to be Pacified.Maria Stossel: High affinity to Mystical Azyr, unpredictable. Tuned in to high society, possible relation to canonical character Ludwig Stossel.Elspeth von Draken: Incredibly frightening and powerful Wizard that was forced to assume her position after Hexensohn's sudden death. Has possession of a Shyish aligned Carmine Dragon and might have an hourglass containing the ashes of a dead god (she does in canon at least). Shrouded in rumor and mystery, she commutes between Altdorf and her home city of Nuln on dragon back.Algard: Most people don't even know he's the Grey Patriarch, as he faked his death and people still think Olorin is the Patriarch. Creator of Algard's Screaming Towers, teleporting towers that are immensely attractive to chaos hordes, necromancers and general forces of destruction, which inevitably leads them all to a series of ambushes. Has a series of banners in his office of groups that have been successfully ambushed by his machinations. Eccentric, does lots of paperwork and has a lot of scattered ability with space manipulation using Ulgu. He wears a grey hood and a blue scarf, and he has swirling grey eyes and stormcloud-grey hair. He has a surprisingly young face and leans on his skull topped staff to support himself.Alric: 14th, 18th and 20th Supreme Patriarch of the College of Magic as well as the current Magister Patriarch of the Light College, switching frequently with Lady Magister Mira. The Savior of Apesto, he presided over the colleges during the Night of a Thousand Arcane Duels, which started as a result of a protege of his sealing him in crystal and creating a Storm of Magic. Stepped down in shame afterwards, before regaining his post as 18th Supreme Patriarch after defeating Felip Iyrtu of the Amethysts. Lost to Paranoth then regained his post as the 20th Supreme. In the triple digit age range and his former disciple, Van Horstmann holds quite a lot of resentment towards him.Lord Magisters:Feldmann: Highly charismatic and politically savvy individual, which is rare for a Gold Wizard, especially a patriarch. It indicates that he is likely not too deep into his wind, as he spends a lot of time smoothing over ruffled feathers on Battle Mage deployments. Seems to be ambitious, and bargained with Mathilde over her Skaven loot in exchange for the secret of Gehenna's Golden Hounds.
Lady Magister Grey: Skilled in stealth and enchantment, she adopted the Grey moniker after destroying a Chaos Dwarf Hellcannon foundry to avoid the many Hobgoblin Assassins sent after her. She assassinated many of these Hobgoblins and performed revolutionary autopsies on them.
Rector Melkoth: Triple digit age range, fooling time itself to make his age impossible to calculate. Head of the Grey College's Battle Wizards and an incredibly experienced Battle Mage himself, as he is the inventor of the Grey Signature spell Melkoth's Mystifying Miasma. He can casually cast his Miasma as a prank, and is exceptionally skilled in Battle Magic in general.
Provost Kurtis Krammovitch: Head of the Grey College's diplomatic efforts within and outside the Empire and the Colleges. Double agent for the Hedge Folk turned triple turned quadruple agent with a very convoluted story full of rumor and speculation involving the Hedgewise he was born into, giving him a lot of knowledge and connections with them as groups and giving him an unofficial role as their liaison. Knows the lore of the Hedgewise.
Walther Kupfer: Known for fomenting civil unrest in the Druchii city of Clar Karond from within the city's slave pits, resulting in house feuds that still blow up from time to time. Old and "retired".
Porter Reiner Starke: Former youngest Lord Magister of the Grey Order before Mathilde. Duty as Porter means he is in charge of the Grey College's espionage commitments, including Internal Security. Has intimidating piercing grey eyes and seems very pious. Canonical version believed belief in Sigmar was essential to the unity of the Empire and thus heavily encouraged Sigmarite belief. Rumored to have led a purge against a Tzeentchian cult by the name of the Cult of the Broken Wheel, possibly leading to his promotion to Lord Magister.
Bursar Wilhelmine von Bucht: Duties as Bursar include economic and financial control and oversight over the Grey College, specifically over the tithing and enforcing of the Vow of Poverty. Known for destroying the house of Goellner when they thought their trade empire was too powerful, for dismantling multiple smuggler guilds, and concealing the Imperial Regalia from Dieter IV to prevent him from causing more chaos.
Mathilde Weber: Current youngest Lady Magister in the Grey College. Former Spymaster of Stirland and now former Court Wizard and Loremaster to King Belegar of Karak Eight Peaks. Known for her deeds as the campaign leader in charge of the destruction of Castle Drakenhof, and as an instrumental component in the retaking of Karak Eight Peaks and the destruction of Waagh Birdmuncha. Recently came back from the Chaos Wastes, restoring Karak Vlag from the Warp and confirming Karag Dum's status, and is currently acting as Head Librarian of Kron Azril Ungol, Head Researcher of the World's Edge Branch for the Multidisciplinary Advancement of Thaumatergy, and the head of the Waystone Research project done in cooperation between the Eonir of Laurelorn, the Colleges of Magic and the Dwarfs of the Karaz Ankor.Elrisse: Verpasian Kant's master. Shown as an option on a thread roll.
Mira: Six foot tall glowing woman. Swaps with Alric for position of Matriarch of the Light Order.
Heinz Meissner: Canonical founder of the Ancient Library of the Light College. Whether he is the current head of the library and whether he still lives remains up in the air.Gehenna: The second Gehenna, not the one who made the Golden Hounds. She thinks the first was an Elf. About as tall as Mathilde with Nordlander features, gilded and muscular. Johann's teacher, she graduated to Lady Magister from the Battle Mage track, which makes her unusual even by Gold standards.
Stanisława Skłodowicz: High Wizard of Middenheim, alchemist looking for the Universal Solvent. Published a paper on the applications of the Lustrian Salamander's saliva that Mathilda brought to the colleges. Name is Kislevite.
Final Transmutation guy: Challenged Dragomas for the title of Supreme Patriarch and cast a spell that might have very well been Final Transmutation, but was counterspelled and death glared.Self Buff Challenger: Challenged Dragomas for the title of Supreme Patriarch. Cast a self buff before she got Amber Speared.Anraheir: Mentioned in thread as a possibility for challenging Dragomas. Might be related to the magic item Cloak of Anraheir, or to the spell Curse of Anraheir. Could be a Gehenna situation where he is named after Anraheir.
Luuk Schild: Lord Magister enchanter in charge of the Transformation of Kadon enchantment requested by Mathilde for dealing with Cython. Likes tea.
Kerwen Sigmarsson: Mentioned in thread as a possibility for challenging Dragomas. Character from 1st edition WFRP who was the Wild Father in that edition.Arburg: Challenger for the title of Supreme Patriarch against Dragomas. Recent promotion into Lady Magister from the Battle Mage track. Fought with the forces of Ostland and Nordland against Beastmen and with the Second Imperial Navy against Norscans. Spellwork was noted as excellent. The Jade Matriarch before Tochta Grunfield in canon 2e WFRP.Amethyst: ???Olenus: Lord Magister who adapted Mathilde's MAP and made it universal to all the Colleges as Lesser Magic through his own modifications, preserving the pun by adding Polysevirric making it into MAPP.
Thyrus Gormann: Confirmed as a Lord Magister through rolls. Canonical Supreme Patriarch before Balthasar Gelt, not much is known about this version of him.
Magisters:
Regimand Speiseschrank: Mathilde Weber's master. Frequently goes into "retirement" only to return on some spontaneous mission. Has a network of inns and taverns across the Empire that he uses for an informant network and as a series of safe houses. Old and experienced, although he refuses to use any Battle Magic that isn't Smoke and Mirrors. Has a smoke beard as a result of a risky play with a deliberate miscast feint, and despite cautioning safety performs many risky gambits such as rooftop hopping with chain cast skywalks and using Smoke and Mirrors to cancel downwards momentum. Skilled assassin and spy. Dismantled a Lahmian conspiracy ring that included the former Empress, who he personally assassinated, gaining the assistance of an Amethyst "who needed to shore up their position" to make it look like a natural death. Said Amethyst is likely to have been Elspeth von Draken.
Magister Grey: Very skilled enchanter, whose enchanting skills were vital for the construction of the Burning Shadows tower and its IFF system. Artificer of the Grey College.Choirmaster Stephen: Affable and likable Light Magister who brightens candles in his presence. Trained and experienced in leading Choirs of Apprentices in battle, and an experienced enchanter who taught the Runecraft class and made the Candle of Cleansing Radiance for Mathilde.
Egrimm van Horstmann: Only surviving student of Magister Patriarch Alric, who he holds resentment for yet still has some loyalty towards. Skilled and knowledgeable combatant and researcher with experience leading a Quartet, and capable of at least some Battle Magic. Canonical events involving Horstmann should be discarded, especially in relation to his book. It is not known whether he has fallen or will fall to chaos.
Verspasian Kant: Revealed as a result in thread rolls. Apprentice to Lady Magister Elrisse. He is the canonical Light Patriarch in 2522 IC in 2e WFRP, and a rival to Van Horstmann. His DL version has yet to be met.Johann: Blind magnetoreceptive punch wizard with a gilded body. Worships the Ancestor Gods, discipled to a master from the Order of Grungni's Pick. Former apprentice to Lady Magister Gehenna, he has inflexible magic and as a result is incapable of many of the esoteric and mystical aspects of his Wind such as Alchemy, leading him to be shunned by his order. A good friend of Mathilde's.
Maximilian de Gaynseford: Aspiring blacksmith apprenticed under a Dwarfen Master Smith. Believes true transmutation comes from crafting, and is attuned to the more mystical aspects of Chamon. Spends most of his time practicing his art, but also acts as a scholarly assistant to Mathilde, as he has a talent for translating her thought process into writing and is an exceptionally patient person with spells further enhancing those abilities. Is very fond of Silver Arrows of Arha, and uses a Crossbow he crafted as a focus making it act like an unusual staff.Michel Solmann: Klaus Solmann's cousin, Magister attuned to Elemental Azyr, likes gambling with card games and joined the expedition to Dum to receive inspiration from an Ice Witch.
Klaus Solmann: Classmate of Kereveld, helped with the Blue Tower to help fund his dream observatory in Ostland.
Kereveld: Dislikes using the stars to tell the future, travelled to Lustria, fought a sea serpent and a Slann and after his return refused to leave his home continent. Sparred with Hubert who was an apprentice at the time, and helped with the Blue Tower.Esbern and Seija: Partner magisters who may or may not be in a romantic relationship but are definitely in a physical one. Seija is agnostic/areligious, taciturn and a spear wielder, having spells that focus on animal communication and control more than combat. Esbern is more energetic, uses a bow, is a Taalite and has more combat focused spells. Both are Knights of Taal's Fury and ride Demigryphs, stable mutated monstrous cavalry. Assisted in two of Mathilde's campaigns.Panoramia's mother: Despite Panoramia having her own teacher, her mother refused to break the line of mother teaching daughter since the dawn of time, so she was very involved in Panoramia's tutelage.
Seed Enchanter: What rank she is and what her name is is unknown, but she enchanted Mathilde's Seed of Regrowth.Wolfgang Scheunacht: Enchanter. Was in charge of making Mathilde's Dragon Flask. Related to Hans?
Hugo Bann: Enchanter. Helped teach Enchantment lessons and crafting the Red Tower with Mathilde.
Victor: Magister with a heavy lined face indicating an old man, with fiery red hair. Described as having a "cultured voice". Recieved the Doomfire Ring from Mathilde and granted her the Torc of Fire, which he may have personally enchanted.
Hans Scheunacht: Overseer of the Lustrian Salamanders gifted to the Amber Order by Mathilde, contributor to the paper on uses of the Salamander's saliva. Related to Wolfgang?Journeymen:Magister Sigismund Herwig and Magister Marike Grünberg: Amethyst Battle Wizards who accompanied Magister Patriarch Viggo Hexensohn on the Drakenhof campaign. Carried Hexensohn's corpse out of the crypt he died in.
Grey: ???
Gold: ???Citharus, Barbitus, Timpania: Trio of Journeymen from Tilea, likely picked up from an orphanage. Acted as a Choir Quartet under Van Horstmann during a trip to the Chaos Wastes. All of them have different Magesight senses, Citharus with auditory, Timpania with olfactory and Barbitus with visceral. Barbitus had a bad experience in the Chaos Wastes that lead to suspicions of corruption that Mathilde cleared him on after interrogation.
Amber: ???Hubert Denzel: Ulrican noble from Middenheim who managed to retain his title after going to the College. Heavily attuned to elemental Azyr but shuns Mystical, resulting in self inflicted stunted magic. Has powerful mastery over lightning and flight and is a skilled swordsman and warrior, training under General Soizic of the Undumgi. One of the three Esteemed Ducklings, he serves as the Ambassador to the settlement of Ulrikadrin under the authority of K8P.
Cyrston von Danling: Elementally and seasonally attuned Ghyran user with a sense of adventure and exploration. Joined the expedition to Karag Dum.
Panoramia: Daughter of a Jade Magister and Perpetual, she is a Druid with tactile Windsight and great knowledge and affinity for the fields. She is seasonally attuned like most Ghyran users, and has talent in potions and alchemy, fitting for she is named after the greatest potion maker of the Jade Order. She has a staff that connects to the earth to let her rejuvenate her stamina, and she is exceptionally skilled at using and harnessing the energies of the Waystones. Has very strong relations with the Halflings and is fluent in Mootish. She is Mathilde's romantic partner.Adela Burgstaller: Daughter of burghers, she has many siblings and family members and she is loyal to them. She has an uncanny memory and understanding of engineering and mechanics that she is enthusiastic to deepen, resulting in her seeking out Karak Eight Peaks. Has had military training and indulges in a little nepotism when she started getting involved in the Karag Nar Gunnery School. Has a wand with a gaseous power stone that she uses as a focus for some of her spells. One of the three Esteemed Ducklings.
Alexandra Kohler: Older women who discovered her abilities later on in life after being attacked by a beastman and using the fire of her charcoal for self defence. Kohler by trade and birth.Gretel Maurer: Stunted growth in the middle of puberty as a result of shyish gives her an unsettling appearance. Enjoys shiftless debauchery and is a faithful of Morr who desires wealth. Very talented and skilled in the art of reaping and life stealing, granting her the title of Favorite Duckling. Exceptionally good at sneaking and lock picking, and her name implies that she is a foundling, indicating a possible past of thievery. Currently accompanying the Tilean mercenary band Braganza's Besiegers.Eike: Grey Junior Apprentice. Has emotive or tactile windsight. Wilhelmina's grand daughter and the current heir to the EIC.
Gatekeeper: Old man wearing shabby robes that serves as the Bright College Gatekeeper. Bright red eyes the only hint as to his nature. Exact status is unknown so I've placed him in apprentices under the assumption that he's a Perpetual.
Hochlander: Real name is Rudiger von Bechafen. A Hochlander who happens to be a good hunter, woodsman, linguist and cryptographer. In charge of Mathilde's EIC information network, he is fairly straightforward and simple in his solutions. Grey Perpetual.
Middenlander: Grey Perpetual. A long-time resident of Middenheim's Guild of Wizards and Alchemists seeking a posting as far away from the City of the White Wolf as they can possibly get until unnamed circumstances blow over. Has connections with the Cults and a knack for inspiring loyalty
Wissenlander: Grey Perpetual. A bandit that earned some infamy when they mugged a travelling Reiksguard Knight, and then even more when they used their fragment of magical ability to escape their cell and lead the Witch Hunters that the local authorities called in on a merry chase across Solland. Apparently their brush with the pyre caused them to rethink their life, as they made their way to Altdorf to present themself to the Grey College. A talented criminal, and one who still has a bounty on their head in Wissenland.
Tilean: A lady from the crowded streets of Verezzo, she has twin talents for mathematics and intrigue, and apparently had a rather successful career as a wandering charlatan before her modest magical gifts manifested and she made her way to the Empire. Grey Perpetual.
Marienburger: Grey Perpetual. A young man who passed up the College of Navigation and Sea Magicks in favour of the Empire's Colleges, he has an unsurprisingly nautical background and an apparent familiarity with those Ulthuani that leave their island home to trade amongst the wider world. He also has an impressive knack for mists.
Stirlander: Grey Perpetual. Middle aged woman with a very long and classified work history as an experienced spymaster in Stirland. Strong willed and has a lot of strong opinions about how things should be done.
Nordlander: Grey Perpetual. Young woman raised in a small fishing village and skilled in spearfishing, accounted for a number of cultists in her home village with her trident before she was picked up by a priest for having magical talent. Power far outstripped her ability to control it, leading to an escalating series of miscasts that lead to her gaining the Forgettable Arcane Mark. Chose to seal her powers as a result.
Panoramia's father: Jade Perpetual.Archmage Teclis: Current High Loremaster of the White Tower of Hoeth in Saphery, founder of the Colleges after the Great War against Chaos, technically the first Supreme Patriarch.
Volans: Effective first and official second Supreme Patriarch of the Colleges, Patriarch of the Light Order, greatest Magesight in the Old World equivalent to Teclis.
Friedrich von Tarnus: First Magister Patriarch of the Bright Order, former Carroburg Greatsword. One of Teclis' most talented students and an excellent enchanter that forged the Staff of Volans wielded by the Supreme Patriarchs, Armor of Von Tarnus that can be wielded by Wizards, and the Silver Seal, a powerful defensive artifacts gifted to Magnus and passed down to each succeeding Emperor.
Theodor Habermas: Third Patriarch of the Gold Order, discovered the method of forming the Power stones of the Gold Order and named it the Philosopher's stone. It was then adopted and spread around the colleges with unique names for each Power Stone.
Gotthlif Puchta: Former Patriarch of the Gold Order, author to the incredibly informative "A Modest Treatise into the Nature of Magic" book, a book of theories that greatly influenced the colleges and leads him to being highly respected.
Kadon: Third Supreme Patriarch after Volans and Teclis, believed to be the creator of the spell Transformation of Kadon and rumored to be the same Kadon that created the Binding Scrolls of Kadon, wielded the Crown of Sorcery and founded Mourkhain. Many rumors abound of his situation, many believing him to have become stuck in a Transformation with no way of turning back.
High Luminary Horx: A protege of Supreme Patriarch Alric's during the early 2400s that grew ambitious and decided to seal his teacher in crystal, reading the Book of Volans believing it to be the key to power, he went insane and unleashed a Storm of Magic across Altdorf that started the Nights of a Thousand Arcane Duels.
Felip Iyrtu: 17th Supreme Patriarch of the Colleges of Magic and an Amethyst Wizard. Defeated by Alric.
Saint Grey the First: Fought in the Great War against Chaos, introduced worship of Ranald to the Grey Order.
Saint Grey the Second: Planted the idea in Grom the Paunch's head that he would find better fights outside the Empire.
Saint Grey the Third: Rode nonstop across the Empire to warn Journeymen of Dieter IV outlawing the Colleges.
Viggo Hexensohn: Amethyst Patriarch before Elspeth, rumored to be a former priest of Morr in Sylvania. Died during the Drakenhof Campaign through unknown means.
Jovi Sunscryer: Light Magister living in Stirland that joined the Drakehof Campaign. Died miscasting battlemagic, blowing himself up and setting a section of the town of Drakenhof alight, which still lights up on particularly sunny days. Canonical Sunscryer made a branch of the Light College in Stirland in the future, which might never happen in DL.
Olorin: Grey Magister Patriarch before Algard, retired when Mathilde was an apprentice.

Rules to (statistically increasing the low odds) surviving Warhammer fantasy
Rule 1: Don't touch the mummy gold, idiot.
Rule 2: don't go into the woods without a gun and backup
Rule 3: If the map says 'Here be monsters', it literally means there are monsters in that place so don't go near it.
Rule 4: Dwarfs don't forgive, they get even, pay the grudge tribute or run like hell and never stop running.
Rule 5: Elves are proud, passionate, and often act before they think when angry. they are also on average better at stabbing than you are at dodging. don't piss them off
Rule 6: don't look at the evil moon
Rule 7-9: Don't. Look. At. The. Evil. Moon!
Rule 10: The giant sleepy frogs are basically demi-gods, don't piss them off.
Rule 11: don't piss off the giant sleepy toad's Lizard people bodyguards.
Rule 12: just don't go near the continent of Lustria.
Rule 13: or the northpole, there are demons that way
Rule 14: or the southpole, there are even worse things that way.
Rule 15: look, there really isn't any good choices, but the Old World isn't the worse of a bad lot.
Rule 16: don't sniff weird glowing dust, that's not even a good idea Irl.
Rule 17: Never fully trust Magic, It has an opinion, and that opinion is that you should be turned into a cronenberg. Wizards are just better at convincing it to do so later and hoping they die before 'later'.
Rule 18: if the people with goatheads, RatheadS, one-eyed bird-lizard heads or the elves in BDSM gear are about to capture you, slit your own throat, I know this list about surviving, but sometimes you're better off dead.
Rule 19: in all honestly, if you only care about surviving, the chaos gods aren't the worst, sure your going to lose your soul, or be turned into an abomination, but you will still be breathing.
Rule 20: Don't piss off the Gods, evil or not, in this setting smiting is an actual thing that happens fairly often.
Rule 21: if it looks like it wants to eat you, it does, if it doesn't look like it wants to eat you, assume it does so eat it first.
Rule 22: don't stand near human artillery or gunlines if you can help it, they have not fully solved the 'blowing up at random' problem.
Rule 23: don't stand near an Orge, even if they are friendly. you are food and they are always hungry.
Rule 24: Halflings are simple folk, not dumb, and there is nothing more simple than a knife in the back for dealing with problematic folk.
Rule 25: If you are sick, go to a priest, not a doctor. one of them uses unscientific mumbo-jumbo, the other is a priest.
those are the first 25 rules to (statistically increasing the low odds) surviving Warhammer fantasy, I'm sure others will add on the rest.
hope that helps.
These four posts have all been put in the Media threadmarks. They're all sorted near the top of the list, very much out of chronological order. And while I'm not clear on whether informational community posts should go in the Media threadmarks or elsewhere, the last post is very clearly an omake. (And so belongs in the Apocrypha threadmarks instead.)The time had come for Vladimir to perform one of his daily tasks: checking on the condition of his pupil, Frederick van Hal. Last he had looked, the man had been caught in the throes of paranoia, in the middle of forming battle plans to fight both the wretched vermin and the forces of the Empire.
The vampire, however, was not expecting what he found.
"Hello Vladimir!" the necromancer called out. The human sat close to the fireplace, his feet propped up on an aged footstool, as had been his wont before the dark days of the plague had come. He raised his tankard in salute to Vladimir, heedless of the poker sticking out of it. "Fancy a hot ale?"
With a single, swift movement, van Hal's head separated from his shoulders. With another, his tankard, falling in mid-air, was kicked into the embrace of the roaring hearth. Vladimir shook his head in dismay, wiping his bloody hand on the dead man's clothes. The rot induced by the Art must have progressed further and faster than he had expected, if the human had stooped to committing blasphemies even Nagash would not have dared touch. There was much to be done, if the dark deeds of van Hal were to be stopped. Vladimir must find his apprentice, who might have been seduced into a similar act, and then, from there, cleanse the rot from the world. But first, one final note in Frederick's book.
Might even be grounds to rescind Mathilde's status as a dwarf.
He wasn't part of the mushroom experiment, but as an expert on Hysh, would it be appropriate to have him write: Windsoak Mushrooms - Hysh (FRESH)?
I've suggested Hugo Bann - Bright Magister, extremely accomplished enchanter and staff-turner, helped build the eye of Gazul. I think he's the best serious candidate for relevant skills, experience, and connections.[ ] WEB-MAT: Attempt to recruit someone to WEB-MAT (specify who)
Unclogging waystones. You can't unclog a waystone that's producing dhar if you have no understanding of how it works when it's not doing so.
And without either high magic or windherding, you can't know how to keep the winds flowing together yet separate which is (as far as we know) a fundamental requirement for not making Dhar and clogging.
I mean optimistically we might be able to repair outright damaged waystones, or make new waystones that fit into the existing network of leylines - but unclogging them is the requirement for this project to have any purpose whatsoever. If we don't at least manage unclogging we achieve nothing in regards to waystones.
Windherding can't replace the runic side of things, but I think it can be an adequate replacement for the high magic part - especially in matters of enchantment where there's have plenty of time to collaborate. If understanding of how magic flows through waystones is necessary for unclogging them, then I do not expect familiarity with windherding alone to provide sufficient grounding, so one of the two prongs is liable to fail.

And this is why there should be a 'horrifying' reaction.
A Senate too? This is getting better and better.
Our actions might have been political insofar most actions are at a certain level of power, but only a small subsection of them were about either influencing governments or other powerful people to make the world more to our liking or otherwise doing the kind of horse trading on behalf of ourselves or our liege in the way that commonly comes to mind when one thinks of "politicking".The idea that we should not get involved in politics is somewhat strange to me.
Largely because i consider almost everything we do to be political.
Our actions as a spy master, our actions as a loremaster, and later our actions as a Lady Magister.
We are, by the virtue of our station, and our personal ties to people in power, inherently political creature.
There is absolutely a question of when, where, and how we interact with various political issues, but just avoiding politics is in itself a political stance we take.
I think that very phrase is flawed from the get go in this context. It wasn't about "deserving" to die. It was about certain deaths, on a statistical level (given the numbers) making things smoother. And once it isn't about deserving then the whole equation becomes a different one. More concretely, it becomes one that allows for collateral casualties for the "greater good".There was no realistic way for him to find out whether they deserved to die or not
Boons are an abstraction when dealing with NPCs, but when it comes to PC boons there's an easy litmus test. If Belegar was to directly ask us for a big yet important favor, how many do you think would vote in favor of helping him out and giving it our all? Personally I think that the raw and practical voter sentiment translates into quite a strong Mathilde Boon, should Belegar ever call on it.Eh, I am not sure I would go that far. She worked for him and not the other way around, every time Belegar was helping us it was in order to help him and fulfill his objectives. Our boons are from going above an beyond the call of duties, his boons for the same thing are called 'winning'.
What do you mean, in between? Befriending them without their knowledge? Openly prying into their secrets?
Getting to know them both personally and through investigation without trying to actively court them or spy on them in a subversive way.
I.e. keeping the openly being friendly and getting to know them from the former and the getting second hand sources and information from the latter.
I guess what I am trying to say is if there is a third investigation option that doesn't involve either sucking up to them or clandestinely spying on them, but instead is more about doing straight forward due diligence when it comes to learning about them and then interacting with them on a diplomatic footing.

If you want to spend a whole AP getting to know someone, that means they're having you by their side for a whole 1/6th-1/8th of the month, with you trying to get to know them. If you don't provide value in that time, they're not going to be happy about how much effort you're putting into bugging them.Edit: A third way to phrase it would be doing something equivalent to the "spend time getting to know them" action from before Social Turns were a thing, but with the AP expenditure to give ot enough weight for concrete results.
Am I just reading too much into the specific phrasing? If you want to learn more about them through social interaction with them, pick one. If you want to learn more about them without social interaction with them, pick the other. These two options cover the entire range of possibilities.
