Oh Ranald, why? I pity BoneyM, because he HAS to read all that.

Tally tool who art now integrated into the forum, what's the current situation.

...

Huh, the waiting to see if something happens isn't bad, but I don't like it, since our supply situation puts us on a schedule. Just leaving is... Well, boring and doesn't provide us with much information.

Oh the third is an almost safe-ish Intel gathering option involving going to the non-beastmen locals and saying "Yo, WTF?". I'll take it.

Can someone explain the reasoning behind the "wait and see" approach? i take it we are hoping to see a battle and how Morghul reacts, but with the ships here I think the Kurgan might be a bit wary to try anything (4 is feed, and the strongest is about to feed on whoever proves weakest)

Just because it's not one of the Big 4 Chaos Gods doesn't mean it's an acceptable God.
It could still be Hashut for all we know.
If against all odds this is actually the work of a Chaos God, I think the most likely one is actually Morghur.

We know that becoming a God is possible, we know Morghur is often treated as one and most importantly we know that Morghur is currently helping Karag Dum.

Might even explain why he got more control, wouldn't be an unthinkable growth from ascending on the back of Dawi worshippers.

@BoneyM whatever happens after this, would it be possible for Mathilde to suggest the Yusak accompany the caravan out of the wastes? If not for mutual protection then as mercenaries.

Like do Mathilde think there is a chance to pull them away from chaos for good and only keep to White moon worship? Or Liljan could prosetylize of course...

Skaven number theory isn't omni-applicable when it comes to non-skaven.

... The Kurgan are not Skaven.

Wait and see is exactly what it sounds like. We want to see what the 'typical' day at Dum is like. If someone tries their luck we can see how Morghur/Dum responds and if there's any other wonky affects here that aren't obvious from poking things.

I really think we need to not engage with the other tribes. The impression I got from the other tribe we talked to sounded like they would not like to be disturbed.

Also what good will waiting do for certain? It seems like a desperation move when we really don't have to do it. No body will fault us for pissing off. In fact, this would be a great adventure for some other wizard to try and get glory on. It's like a take a penny leave a penny only for karak sized mysteries.

If anyone in the world is going to prove skaven-like, is going to be chaos nomads.

Chances are the Kul and Svellige hate each other, they can take turns attacking the beastmen and boasting how they are the bravest and most faithful, but then comes in a new challenger, one they don't know, they are going to want to wait too, since they don't know our intentions and moving first would leave them exposed, so they have more reason to wait than we do.

[X] Leave.

We simply do not belong here. We have learned the best we could safety and without risk to us, or the expedition.

It time to go home, and tell everyone what we know and fast.

Ugh, great, the vote for how to investigate is scattered, with only the two most generic of possible actions getting plurality. And, of course, even if we stay for a day, the Leavers are going to point at the comparative lack of information as reason in and of itself to leave.

Tactical voting time.

Sadly I wasn't in time to propose experiments. I'll still post this post before reading the latest chapter, as I usually do.

@BoneyM If we had chosen to ride with the Knights of Taal's Fury for that last turn, would there have been a chance that we'd have seen Dum well before Borek? Or did you have those two splendidly horrifying scenes in mind from when you first rolled and worked out all the results of what would be there?

My apologies, I wrote a lot before I had a mental image of a bunch of cows being immersed in a gentle rain of Dhar for a week at a time, and must have missed that part on the rewrite.
So which is the correct version?

Also, why are a bunch of cows exposed to Dhar worse than Demigryphs or Giant Wolves exposed to Dhar? Natural resistances? Personal mental resistances due to not being knocked out? No internal Ulgu to make Dhar more likely?
He cared enough about Mathilde's opinion of him to give a few sentences before he bounced. If he cared more, he might have given more.
Remind me. There's usually hidden rolls happening during wvery dedicated social action in expedition turns, right?
I keep a close watch on this hold of mine
I keep my eyes wide open all the time
I keep the ends out for the rune that binds
To buy some time, I hold the line

I find it very, very easy to be true
I find myself alone when Chaos passes through
Yes, I'll admit that I'm a fool for you
To buy some time, I hold the line

As sure as night is dark and day is light
I keep you on my mind both day and night
And not turning to stone proves that it's right
To buy some time, I hold the line

You've no reason to believe I'm on your side
I give you cause for Grudges I won't hide
For you I know I'd even try to turn the tide
To buy some time, I hold the line

I keep a close watch on this hold of mine
I keep my eyes wide open all the time
I keep the ends out for rune that binds
To buy some time, I hold the line
That touched me more than I'd expect.
people probably, I guess, just slept in the steam-wagons.
IIRC the Volans didn't even have enough sleeping space for all the Wizards, so there's definitely some tent-based camping going on.
If people would rather imagine he ended up in The Cave, they're free to do so.
People imagined that Sigmar wasn't dead back in the day. And look what that resulted in.
From what the Yusak said, the eastern and western flanks are consider 'owned' by other Tribes currently. There's nobody there that Mathilde can see, but it's still not a zero-risk thing to attempt.
Based on the shallowness of the crater, the height of the mountain, the width needed to support that height and the fact that there's a dense forest around said mountain, we shouldn't be able to even see ~ half of the crater's circumference.

I've added the two Kurgan camps to my vote as a kind of compromise, in the hope that if they win we will discover something that'll convince the thread to investigate further.

Anywhere else in the world, an army of steam ships sorrounded by monstruos cavalry arriving somewhere, throwing a dwarf at a demigod (the demigod liked it) and leaving would be the strangest day in their lives.

In the chaos wastes it's Saturday.

Thanks for update!

Well then. Let's try and find out.

[X] Fortify here and see if anything interesting happens over the next day
We might as well start slowly, like an avalance.
