[X] [ROMANCE] The Ice Dragon of Karag Zilfin

[X] Belegar, to discuss the northern Karaks and the Expedition.
[X] Barak Varr, to watch the progress of the canal.
[X] Elder Hluodwica, High Priestess of Esmerelda and civilian leader of the Eight Peaks Halflings.

Thing is Johann does get us, he's just not out there constantly going "Look at me I grew up and can tell you're making a joke!" where as Johann is going "I got your back Fam." both in a literal sense when out fighting and also in a social sense. look at him wheeling in the Warboss corpse to help Mathilde make a more poignant display. I couldn't see Pan being willing to do that.
That's very much not how I read Pan's interactions with Mathilde, but everyone interprets social stuff differently. I do definitely feel you're wrong about the wheeling out Birdmuncha thing, however; Johann probably got picked because he was our employee over any other consideration, and considering Pan is known for 'cheerily efficient' murder using rapid-growth thorns and turning corpses into compost I absolutely believe she'd be happy to wheel around a dead body for us as a favour.

Johann is also our emplyee, we tell him to wheel a corpse, he wheels a corpse. :V

That is not my intent, honestly I don't mind Panoramia, just the insistence that all the work all the risks and all the luck that went into Mathilde's feats that it many ways culminated with the Eye can be matched by doing the thing your Wind is good for and doing it a lot. It's not about agriculture. If she were a Grey and the argument went 'but look at how big the spy network is' it would be just as bad.
Then maybe spend more time talking up how super impressive our doomtower is (and it is super impressive), and less time talking about how basic and simple agriculture is?
Because i am not arguing that the tower is not super impressive, i just feel that you are downplaying how hard creating a biosphere is, and shitting down on people who work in agriculture.

I encourage everyone to carefully consider their options and possibly reread some of the character's critical interactions, including our last dates, while weighing in on the romance option.

Panoramia's bragging of all that she does in her free time makes me think she is really not that much of a good match to Mathilde. She could be learning spells, or making spells, or writing papers, or picking up new skills. She essentially lazes around for seven months or so.

Is her project important? Yes. She has been of great help to the Karak's agriculture.

But let's not forget the many thousands of halfling so which work those fields. Panoramia isn't singlehadedly doing anything, she is lending a hand.

A Plant Wizard helping with planting is not terribly impressive as far as ambition and potential goes. What she does with her free time is, and it doesn't look good if you are measuring for those aspects.

Hell, she said it herself: it's as much of a blessing as anything that she can tailor everything how she wants instead of working with what's there.

The one who gets an unofficial seat on the council isn't Pan, it's Elder Huwodlica (of the hard to spell name).

So can we not overhype her to hell and back?

The tower saved the whole Karak, fields and all from impossible odds, it channeled the power of a god. I do not think there is anything I could say about it to talk it up. My point is that it is frustrating to hear repeated application of Jade magic, tried tested and proven compared to that, just because it's being done over a wide area.

We had one conversation with her about her freetime, we have next to no idea of what she actually does with her freetime.
Or during her work for that matter.

By that logic, most magisters could do what Mathilde does.
edit-
And how do you know what spells she uses to remake that biosphere?
Have i missed an update?

Not an update, the dramatis personae sheet:

Dispel
Magic Lock
Aethyric Armour
Cure Blight: Mostly used to cure large areas of woodlands from plant diseases, but can be used to weaken disease in people.
Curse of Thorns: Thorns grow within the body of a single target, causing internal damage and excruciating pain.
Father of Thorns: A thorned plant bursts from the ground, tangling anyone nearby and causing significant damage if they try to move. After a few minutes, the plant withdraws back into the ground.
Ferment: Turns up to six gallons of any liquid, no matter how foul, brackish, or otherwise undrinkable, into the mildly alcoholic beverage of the caster's choice.
Spring Bloom: Blesses up to ten acres or one creature with magical fertility, causing either a bountiful harvest for the land or near-guaranteed conception for the creature, as long as the usual prerequisites for breeding are met.
Vital Growth: Channels power into one plant or seed to greatly accelerate growth; five minutes of concentration gives a months growth, one hour of concentration a years. It does requires a suitable soil for the plant to grow in.

She just casts spring bloom, that is the extent of her magical work. Now I have no doubt that mundane terafrorming goes into it too, but that is as much the work of the halflings as Pan's.

*checks vote tally*

...huh. I honestly did not expect Cython to be winning the romance pool, but I'm certainly not going to complain about it!

It's like a bright wizard setting something on fire. That it's a very large pile of something he has been chipping at for years doesn't change the fact that, besides the pile being impressively big, it's just a fire wizard throwing fire at things.

Agriculture is terribly important. It's also terribly boring to read about. It takes Mark Walbergh being stranded on Mars to catch the imagination of how basic agriculture can be somewhat cool.

Panoramia has Charming Halfling Adventures. Matty goes on a fantasy post-apocalyptic ride to Hell with a dragon and dwarf tanks.

Yes, it is very effective and we got lucky the ork waagh came overland instead through the underway.
We have next to no idea how hard Pan's job is, because we do not pay any attention to it.
Nor do we know how easily, if at all, other jade wizards could do it.
What we do know is that it is big, and important, and she is paid magister rates because those paying her know it is important, and more importantly, have not decided to hire a magister.

How recent is that list?
Like, we barely know what Max and Johann do with their freetime when not preparing for an expedition and starting to take a look.
I seriously doubt we have an up to date and accurate spell list for Panoramia. Not to mention, there is lot more to agriculture than just pouring fertilizer and water into ground until it blooms.
And, again, how do you know how "easy" is this?
This goes back to it seeming like you are really looking down on how difficult and complicated farming is, and therefore looking down on agricultural workers.

I invite you to look back at our interactions with Pan, and tell me how many of them have been focused on boring agriculture. Because that's the key here- not whether we find Panoramia's job interesting or not, but whether we find her and our interactions with her interesting. And if you don't that's fine, everyone has their own tastes, but you shouldn't be judging her by her work over her personality.

It's... not though? Panoramia explicitly says that no one else in her college has done what she's trying.
Because never before has Kragg the Grim boiled metaphysically malleable soil with his anvil of doom. Never was there a slate so clean as this.

A lack of opportunity, as it sounds like the chance to do was you will with the soil was welcomed greatly.

Eh, I suppose there may be a matter of personal taste involved. I prefer people who can work independently. Furthermore we know Panoramia isn't lacking in courage (considering she went on the expedition and even took part in the fighting) it's just that our two skill sets usually don't matchup. If we did find a project to work on together I'm sure she'd be all for it.

So yeah, personal taste. I just really don't like Johann.

I could accept the dragon however. Because he out nerds Mathilde herself, oh and he's a dragon.

We do have a project to work with Pan, it's just that the thread refuses to vote for it. :V

I never said she was not as skilled as a magister, my point is that there are many more experienced magisters than her who could do the job just as well or better. I'm going to assume experience means as much for the jades as any other college and she is not a prodigy becuse there has bene no indiction that she is.
