Belegar uses a human wizard as an assassin, and relies on rangers and humans to retake K8P: Gains trait Radical.
Belegar orders surreptitious assistance to a skaven clan, by focusing on their enemies, in order to prolong a bloody stalemate amongst his enemies: Gains trait Stressed, "what am I even accomplishing?"
Belegar orders the construction of a warpstone-powered anything. Gains trait Skaven in disguise "Clan Eshin is better in sneak-sneak than too-quiet human Mathilde, yes-yes. Many years-time fooled!"

I am really skeptical of the idea that Second Secret somehow works on Warpstone. Dhar in spells is metastable and was specifically shaped in such a form by someone and sufficient disruption (Second Secret) reverts it to a lower energy state - freeform Dhar. Dhar to Warpstone conversion is a natural process and there is no indication that there is a (natural) reverse one (Warpstone boiling into Dhar on its own). That looks like a hint that Warpstone is actually stable form of Dhar and thus Second Secret is inapplicable to it.

The above may raise the question of Skaven's consumption of Warpstone and extracting energy from it. My theory is that they don't use Warpstone -> Dhar+Energy reaction (which should be impossible if Warpstone is lowest-energy state), but just consume it outright (Wapstone -> Energy), thus reducing total amount of Dhar in the world.

<sarcasm>Let's feed our pet Skaven some warpstone and see what it does!</sarcasm>

Also we really should be proposing AV to Belegar ancestor runes are one of the only things that would let the Dwarves contest an emperor Dragon with anything approaching parity if things go to hell. Ensuring that Kragg and Thorek both have all their ancestor runes ready to go if needed is crazy important.
... Huh, it's kind of obvious in hindsight, but yeah.

Ancestor Runes are a step above being Battle Magic-equivalent in power, maybe the crazy 20+ CV stuff you can only cast in a Storm of Magic compares.

It's sometimes hard to keep in mind that Kragg is the dwarf equivalent of Teclis.

An assignment of "figure out how to deal with the dragon" would, I think, be satisfactorily finished with "here's Ancestor Rune spam" as that's the equivalent of giving Teclis a personal Storm of Magic to play with.

The Ancestor runes are literally in the storm of magic supplement for the table top game, they can be used freely in a storm of magic when the runesmith is ensconced in an arcane Fulcrum. That's why proposing AV is the counter measure for the dragon if things go hostile. I expect the actual dragon project to be gather information and see if diplomacy is possible with the fall back being assassination or outright military conflict.

Late in the day but nonetheless tactical vote. We really should propose Aethyric Vitae if we ever want to actually spend actions on it.

[X] [TOWER] Complete
[X] FIEF: Leave the current and future money be.
[X][PURCHASE] Firkin of top-quality dwarf ale for LM Olenus (5gc)
[X] Plan Alphabetical
[X] [DWARF] No purchase.
[X][COLLEGE] No Purchase

[X] Plan Present Concerns with Snek
-[X] PROJECT: Queekish
-[X] PROJECT: Skaven Politics
-[X] PROJECT: Dragon
-[X] PROJECT: Karag Mhonar
-[X] PROJECT: Aethyric Vitae

need 11 votes for the Snek variant of the plan to reach parity so we propose AV to Belegar and put the option of runic counter measures on the table for the dragon.

@picklepikkl thanks for campaigning as hard as you did for the ale purchase.
You're very welcome! I saw your original proposal, it had like one or two likes, and we were nowhere near a purchase phase, so with how quickly the thread moves I didn't think there was a chance people would do it unless some extremely annoying person was prepared to bang the drum about it, but it was a good idea.
Learning how to do it is inherently dangerous. Doing it once you've got the technique down is just long and tedious.
Checking my interpretation of this answer: the College class on how to do it is dangerous, all your lab sessions in the course use the magical equivalent of fume hoods and personal protective equipment, but once teacher gives you the gold star (or grey star, I guess) you can do it at home much more safely? Or is it the case that even after you are an Accredited Powerstone Crafter, you probably will need to do it once or twice before you've got the technique done?

The latter. The hard roll is going to be while learning it and there'll be much easier ones the first time or two you do it.

Great, thank you for the clarification.

@ the thread: My takeaway from that is that we should not feel the Room of Oh Dear necessary if we want to proceed down the powerstone route of the AV tech tree; the most dangerous part of the learning process necessarily happens at college. If we can fit the Room of Oh Dear's construction in, that would be nice, because AV is weird and who knows what will happen, but I think that Gambler should cover it.

Bleh, the greed inplicit in not wanting to propose AV because we'd have to share credit and resources with Belegar is kind of grating. Especially as it means realistically we're never going to do more than chip away at it once every 5-6 turns.

Look. The solution is to figure out an Ulgu shapechanging* spell, then get an item of that.

*Do Illusions count?

I'm voting for AV this round, but I think this is unfair to the people who aren't. Most of the people I've seen arguing for one of the non-AV plans haven't been objecting on the grounds of sharing credit, they're objecting on the grounds of not wanting to propose it to Belegar before we've done a bit more basic research.

If Mathilde Is not compatible with an item of transformation of Kadon, we should just seduce the dragon the normal way and then commission the item for him.
