It was never mentioned in-text, so obviously we must conclude that whenever dwarves were correcting her Khazalid in previous updates they were also spelling out the words in semaphor. And on a completely separate topic, when did Mathilde learn Dwarf Semaphore, that she is able to teach it? Who taught her?
I think that not coining the snek juice is more dangerous.@spiritualatheist Do you think that not Coining the set up of the nest may be dangerous?
Fair.
In that case, should Max succeed in teaching Reikspiel this turn, could he teach them the semaphore next turn?Max can teach them written Reikspiel because he already knows and understands it. Mathilde has the advantage of already being familiar with the We, so she feels confident about teaching them something she currently only has a vague grasp on.
I think it is the laundering, yes. Dwarven favors are considered to be harder to come across, despite our windfalls, whereas college favors can presumably be generated with consistent actions should they be required.I've skipped a number of pages, is there a reason we're cashing in college favor ourselves rather than 'King Belegar asks'? Is it because we're trying to launder college favor into dwarf favor?
I think that once they learn one language we could delegate the rest to someone else, maybe even buy a regular instructor. In that case, should Max succeed in teaching Reikspiel this turn, could he teach them the semaphore next turn?
Because reputation is the sum of past favor gained. So we lose 2 favor to gain 2 favor and 2 rep.I've skipped a number of pages, is there a reason we're cashing in college favor ourselves rather than 'King Belegar asks'? Is it because we're trying to launder college favor into dwarf favor?
(Not totally keen on Clan Mors right now, but I'm not ready to make a production of it at the moment)
On one hand, requesting the item ourselves will cut so much hassle but establishing a formal contact from Belegar with College can do more good in long run I think.[ ] Deliver King Belegar's request to the College for a translation item (does not cost an action).
[ ] Request the translation item yourself (does not cost an action; converts 3 College Favour to Dwarf Favour).
[ ] Help the We establish their new nest below the Citadel.
[ ] Help the We establish their new nest below Karag Lhune.
[ ] Help the We establish their new nest below Karag Nar.
In that case, should Max succeed in teaching Reikspiel this turn, could he teach them the semaphore next turn?
He's not messing around with technology in the sense of sabotage, he's looking over it to figure out how it works so he can begin the process reverse engineering it without the nasty warpy aspects.[X] Plan Citadel Focus
What sold me was this:
I want to apply two full Magisters directly to Skaven Faces. We can SoS Johann to make us both basically invincible and undetectable in the underways, and a Gold Magister messing around with people's technology is basically as absurd there as we are in darkness.
There is the concern that we're spending multiple actions kicking over the hive that is a Skaven clan when it's not our job, the dwarves don't know we're doing it, and it might unbalance the web of power hereabouts. We're unlikely to be spotted, because Magisters, but just the idea that the twisty bastards that are Skaven might correctly guess the dwarves (i.e. us) are making a play makes me nervous as hell.I.e. we aren't just appeasing him, we're using him by having him engage in Path Of Doing What We Wanted Anyway appeasement.
Two Magisters can fuck up a lot of shit, and cause a lot of havoc even if its not their mission goal.
A significant factor in my choice:
-The Gold Wizards are often redundantly applied to a task, and best used for exploratory research rather than Investigative/Problem Solving research.
--This turn, Johann and Max are redundant, they can do long term investigations on the spider stuff, immediate tasks of teaching spiders how to write(I partly want Max to teach writing because Max has good writing!), and for Johann he can apply full Magister skills on Skavenfucking.
---Worse, they don't play nice with each other so assigning them both to the same task is likely to get less done rather than more.
We'd really have had better options if we hired the Ambers on, but done is done.
Dwarf favor is harder to get than College.I've skipped a number of pages, is there a reason we're cashing in college favor ourselves rather than 'King Belegar asks'? Is it because we're trying to launder college favor into dwarf favor?
Its working with Johann to hunt for Skaven tech.Am I misinterpreting what 'poke Clan Mors' means in Plan Citadel Focus? It sounds a lot like the 'cause mayhem' vote.
Fair point, but we are sitting at 0 Favor in all categories other than College and Dwarf and I don't care so much about pissing off, say, Marienburger Merchant Princes or Brettonians. Their books are worth just as many +1s and we don't have any conventional means of acquiring them.Heideck should be able to get word to him, but that it's College and Dwarf favours you'd be avoiding paying means that you'd be commissioning theft from wizards and Dwarves. Only one of those are subtle, but both are quick to anger.
