I'm in favor. I know we're gonna have some Undumgi stuff to do as well but that's okay with me since that has nice tie in into making sure the Karag is secure and the Karak as well. Internal security is much easier to do while researching compared to External security and researching.
But that point he brought up I asked about seems to be one of not being an advisor.

I mean, it wouldn't be bad to be one who actively helps but isn't stuck with advisor duties. It's just that a position of influence is key to more support and rep with the College. If we want to stay here we need to show we're doing good for the Empire in some way.

I definitely do want to be able to show that we're doing good for the Empire.

No we don't.

@BoneyM, I'm curious. You previously stated that College was ok with Mathilde joining the expedition to burn out youthful energy, how long will that excuse last before they start asking us to do College things? Or will they look favorably on us becoming an advisor to a Dwarf king?
Once K8P becomes a Karak rather than an Expedition - ie, starting now - you serving a Dwarven King is considered an unambiguous good for the Empire's foreign relations, so they'll be fine with it.
So long as we act as a member of Belegar's Inner Council we're fine in regards to the Grey College.

[X] Remain in Karak Eight Peaks, either in the employ of Belegar or pursuing your research.

[X] All this time away has made you miss your friends, and you'll be practically next door in Altdorf. Visit Anton and Wilhelmina.
[X] Claim the site where Ranald mugged Mork and build a shrine to Ranald there.
[x] King Belegar is allowing you to use the King's Armoury. Recover your extant study materials from Stirland and tuck them away safely in there.

Nix, the context doesn't support that. Undead asks if they'd look favorably on us being an advisor to a Dwarven King, to which Boney replied that would suffice. We were on his inner council before because we were a commander of the Umgi Wizards.

Scout the rest of the Eight Peaks, to find out what other horrors are waiting out there.

Can someone voting for it explain why this option is so popular?

It's not that it doesn't need to be done, but why push it now with so many limited-time options available. Once Mathilde's status in the Eight Peaks is settled, she could help out with this over the next couple of years. Why put it ahead of other things where the chance will not come again?

Read BoneyM's reply. They said 'serving a Dwarf King would be considered an unambiguous good for the Empire's Foreign Relations'. The Grey College and The Emperor would have no issue so long as we stayed in 8Peaks supporting Belegar however he wanted us to.

I honestly want that to be the case, but it doesn't read that way to me. Even the option to remain says "either in the employ of Belegar or pursuing your research. "

@BoneyM If you could please clarify, to what extent would we need to go to be considered doing good enough for the Empire here in Karak Eight Peaks as far as our relationship to Belegar?

[X] Claim the site where Ranald mugged Mork and build a shrine to Ranald there.

[X] Make a full report on the geopolitical troubles among the Dwarven Empire, even though some of it was said to you in confidence.

Either you trust the College you've dedicated your life to or you don't.

Serving a Dwarf king would mean serving in an actual defined capacity, not merely hanging out with him.
Thats fine, we would be doing that regardless, so its not big deal. Internal Spymaster, External Spymaster, Court Wizard, ect. So long as we had an actual Job and we didn't just bum at his house we'd be fine.

@BoneyM
Do Dwarfs usually have a spymaster? If so, what are they called?
If not, would we be retained in an official unofficial capacity?

My general idea is to see if we can remain on Belegar's war council and not his civil council. I really feel as though Belegar needs the support of dwarf holds and a great way to gain support is selling council seats. It is essentially what Van Hal was forced to do with his council.

Mathilde being on the council limits the support Belegar can gain be selling seats and Belegar needs all the support he can get with his disagreements with the High King.

But a war council is different. You can have many many more seats at a war council. We have a proven track record of helping a war effort and offering solid ideas to make goals achievable. We would likely even be able to take up our position of being a liason between wizards and dwarfs if we can lure more journeyman to write our papers.

Because there are orcs, goblins and Skaven on our doorstep and we spent the last two months practically ignoring them. It's easily the highest priority option we have and only Mathilde can actually infiltrate rather than just scout around the outskirts. We can set up a shrine at any time, we can visit the Empire at any time. What we can't do at any time is go back in time and prevent Skaven assaults and Greenskin rituals from occurring.

The most optimum thing to do would be scout out at the local enemies and once we know we're in the clear and that Belegar isn't planning any assaults we could then spend plenty of time in the Empire consulting with wizards, spending time with friends and other stuff. But right now we have an obviously higher priority.

Hmm, well if i'm reading the tally right theres only really one close-ish vote atm, so:
[X] All this time away has made you miss your friends, and you'll be practically next door in Altdorf. Visit Anton and Wilhelmina.
Fingers crossed that we visit our friends <3

Otherwise, some 'definitely going to win anyway'

[X] Claim the site where Ranald mugged Mork and build a shrine to Ranald there.
-Edit: removed the 'armory' vote now that the friend (and scouting) votes are close enough that it might be passed, to increase odds of the friend action

And some 'not going to win but i want to signal that i like them' :p

[X] Give them away...
- [X] To the Imperial Zoo
[X] Speak with King Belegar and King Kazador about the relationships and apparent rifts between Dwarfholds.
[X] You've been out of touch for a while. Linger in Altdorf after you visit the College and catch up with what's been happening in the Empire.

A few reasons:

• Scouting is time sensitive.
The Skaven, Gobins, and Orcs aren't going to be sitting still, waiting for us to move. They have their own plots, their own plans, and if we want K8P to actually last as long as KaK, having info on that is critical.

• It's Mathilde's biggest possible contribution.
We made our legend among the dwarves doing scouting and sabotage in the mountains here. Continuing to do this, now, during the consolidation phase, lets Belegar respond to any criticisms he might hear from the dwarves about letting a wizard do her experiments in his mountain in the most direct way possible.
