Shadowmancer of the Shadow Cabal
My memory is coming up short here, but runesmithing is declining both because of the lost holds and because magic is more 'stable' now right? Like, way back when all the bigger works were made there was magic storms when they were runesmithed? Like the count weapons.
Now the main question, if the dwarves had access to the snake juice would that go a ways to alleviating limited magic? Liquid high magic seems like something that would/should go a good way to making some really good runesmithed items.
I think most of the issue is the lost holds and dead clans of rune smiths, but the lack of high ambient magic roaming does have an effect, Karak Eight Peaks is one of the places where this wouldn't be an issue as it's a nexus for the waystone network here. So they probably don't need the snake juice if they retake all of K8P. That said the snake juice would be useful for a runesmith that doesn't have access to a waystone nexus but they're usually not willing to experiment in that way. Rune smiths are usually even more hide bound than other dwarven groups.
