Yes, people keep talking about heads and fields, but I see it as us finding a nice watermelon sized energy field, and inviting our friend who has a nice set of knifes to come eat with us, we are getting our fill and he can take the rest home.
That does make more sense, even if it's pretty counter intuitive - the seemingly second most crazy option has the potential to be the safest if we do it properly.

Straight up dying would actually probably be a better outcome than getting a permanent mutation - after all, we have a Phoenix Down on us, while a mutation would be much harder to deal with.

It's not so great if part of the mountain is exploded, killing the Rangers inside and possibly destroying our enchanted seed.

Man I'd love to see what happens if we accepted the power.

But alas
[X] You are a faithful of Ranald, being in the right place at the right time to unbalance the scales. Try to steal the energies.

It's time to shuffle up and deal~

P.S. @BoneyM regardless of what wins, would you be willing to tell us what the other options would've resulted in? Especially acceptance?
Hulk!Mathilde stronk?

[X] You are Dwarf-friend and you bear upon your person a masterpiece developed by the oldest and wisest Runepriest of the Karaz Ankor. Try to destroy the energies.

Want to see if we can destroy Gork.. Or Mork. Either works.
With one rune, no matter how masterful? Hardly.

I think how effective the seed would be against smiting depends on how pissed off the prospective god is at you; they could hit you with a lightning bolt or what-have-you, then go about their business, or they could blow your head up, then stick around for a while to blow it up over and over again so it stays exploded, or they could just blow you up hard enough to destroy all your stuff and anything in the vicinity.

I super doubt that Mathilde offering the energies to Ranald means that she is also gonna use them, that is afterall the Mork option.

Well like, I do not think its been specified the power is actually going to Ranald and its something the thread has thought up and held onto as a sensible result. In fact Boney has been kinda tight lipped about where exactly it goes from what I recall.

E: I have no issues with any of this but it probably should be put out there just in case

Boney's response to what would happen to the power is, "Mathilde has no idea what Ranald would or could do with it." That certainly seems to imply we're fencing it to him.

Hrn here I was thinking the initial question was framed as what would Ranald would do with it but my memory was faulty but yep its very much your interpretation.

I figured he'd get a cut because we're stealing it, and when we steal things we tithe some of it to him, but by the same chain of thought Ranald doesn't demand that you give him everything you steal, only 10%-ish or so. I think the logic goes that it's for the implicit assumption that the god of fortune helped you out and as an assistant in your heist he deserves a cut.

Whether we're keeping most of it directly, or fencing all of it to him and expecting a return of some sort, Ranald doesn't seem like the type of god to keep it all for himself if we ask him to help out (there's no honour amongst thieves, but trust your brothers and sisters, he says).

Further, Mathilde's not really assuming he's going to be doing all the work, is she? I mean, except in the sense that we assume he's always helping out. The vote itself only says that we're doing it because we're a worshiper of the god of thieves, not that we're calling on him to help us steal it directly. It may very well be that he's only involved in so much as this action would honor him, and the rest is an assumption the thread cooked up.

I dug it up for you.
Say @BoneyM might I ask exactly what Steal means in the Ranald option?

What Ranald would or even could do with that power is entirely beyond Mathilde's knowledge.

Oh, hey, I didn't add my voice to the chorus. Observe as I tip the scales!

I mean, that's pretty much what the d6 is for, right? To see what Ranald's going to do with all of that power. At least one or two of those options are going to be "you get to keep most/some of it".

The Book of Mathilde
The Book of Mathilda.

Goddess of Magic, Illusion, Enchanting, Learning, Intrigue, Sabotage, Demolition, Guns, Swords, Riding, Catgirls, Werecats, Horses, Wolves, Snakes, Night, Shadows and Fog.

Her Blessings and Boons apply both in Magical, Academic and Martial pursuits.

Her Pantheon is composed of the Deities known as Ranald, Shallya and Manaan.

The Goddess Mathilda was originally Human somewhat akin to Sigmar.

Unlike Sigmar whose Patron was Ulric however, Mathilda's Patron Deity in life was Ranald.

Ranald the God of Peasants, Protection, Merchants, Gambling, Thieves, Trickery, Sleight of Hand and Revolutionaries is seen by many of the Faith as the Father of the Goddess Mathilda.

The Gods she is in Conflict with include The Shark God of Piracy, The Horned Rat of the Skaven, The Spider God of the Forest Goblins.

Strangely the Twin Gods of the Greenskins swap between aiding or attacking her followers when found in battle.

Mathilda's Faithful often clash with Sigmar and Ulric's followers due to disagreements about Wizards, Wolves and the use of Firearms.

In the Time before her Ascension, Mathilda was directly involved in many events within the Empire and outside of it. Many of which are Secret or Unknown to her Faithful and non adherents to varying degrees.

What is known about however are remarkable events indeed.

Some of her most noted Feats in life are:

The Role of the Spy Mistress of Stirland.
Mastery of the Greatsword.
Masterful Riding Skills.
Being one of the Swiftest Riders in the Empire
The Cleansing of the Ghost Hills.
The Perpetual Entrapment of the Mirror Snake.
The Acquisition of Liquid Unified Magic.
The Invention of the Spell Matrix.
Founder of Gunpowder Industries in Stirland.
Biographer and Author of the Book of the Legendary Wandering Dragon Prince.
The Demolition of Drakenhof Castle.
Beloved Patron of the Ratcatchers and Sewer Workers.
The breaking of an Empire wide Conspiracy.
Friend of Wolves.
The Annihilation of countless Skaven and Orcs within and without Karak Eight Peaks.
The invention of the Mathilda MAP Spell.
Mistress of the Shadow Serpents.
Slayer of a Divine greenskin Champion.
First of the Holy Catgirl's and Werecats.
Acclaimed Dwarf Friend.
Recipient of Dwarf Runed Gift.

I don't think their view on Wolves would differ?
Mathilda and Ulric fully agree that puppers are great and puppers that help kill your enemies better.
Sigmar has at least no problem with them, if no particular affinity either.

For Sigmar the Conflicts are about the Magisterial Colleges and the lack of initiative vs reactive actions.
For Ulric the Arguments are about Guns and Cannons etc with some Arguments about Mathilda trying to lay claim to Wolves which are Ulric's main thing.

Mostly followers vs followers conflicts.

In the Godly Realm though Mathilda and Ulric get on fine. She never did forgive Sigmar for not saving the Elector Count however.
