We could probably make getting to the bottom of that our next mission when we get back, assuming it hasn't been resolved already.
Assuming we are allowed to pick our next job, we are slowly gaining the worst possible Rep you can in politics...

Competent.

If someone up the ranks notices we can expect another "mission like the first coming around again

What can I say? Omegahugger makes a wonderful point about the Journeyfanling.

While it is too far down the list for it to truly matter now, there is one thing that I would like to point out about visiting Panoramia. Namely that going down to visit our journeyman with a measurable level of fangirl right after winning a great victory and inventing a new spell will probably result in a grossly indecent amount of humblebrag,

You know, tomorrow is another day, even if Mathilde needs to use the Seed of Rebirth to survive her hangover. It's possible that Karak Nar will be attacked tomorrow to maintain momentum, but I think it's more likely that we'll have a period of consolidation in which Mathilde can harvest her minions' praise coordinate the jounreymanlings' activities.

They have a vote for who becomes the Emporer, don't they?

Yes, they sit on the Electoral Council, but that's only part of their power. The Prime Estates' power to veto the Emperor's edicts and new laws is the greatest leverage that the Electors have in day to day Imperial politics.

There are several very good reasons to set up a Collegiate Chapter House in Karak Eight Peaks and get down to business there.

Fortunately, as a Magister we have a bit more leeway in these things than most people would. It was noted in character creation that very, very few people have the clout to insist on a journeyman wizard being assigned as an adviser, and a Magister would be even harder. It may actually only be the Patriarch and the Emperor who can insist at this point, anyone else would have to make it worth our while.

I'm sorry, @Alliterate , I can't resist the allure of the amazing acronym: Mathilde's MAP. :(

What is it about this vote that makes people keep acting as if tomorrow doesn't exist, rather than being another day where the people Mathilde sees regularly will still exist as well?

Panoramia will gush about this the next time Mathilde sees her whatever happens. Giving her longer to stew will probably only make it more pronounced.

Well, that may not usually apply to Grey Wizards, although Mathilde has a bit more leeway than usual.

The odds of us narratively just getting another three social votes are rather slim though, so if we want it we better take it. At the very least the social action will likely be at the cost of something physical, and not just another social action.

Also, SV has taught me not to trust "We will pick that next time" arguments. There will always be other shiny things that distract voters from the shiny thing you want, so if you want to see a vote win you vote for it in the present.

Given the ridiculous pace BoneyM has been keeping, I'm not at all worried about waiting for some things that we can vote for later.

I was on the edge and want to see Panoramia next update and like the idea of there being some kind of consequences down the road later on from Mathilde's choices here involving Panoramia.

If they don't see it happen in the quest, as far as they care it basically didn't. It's not a terrible viewpoint for, say, fanfiction, where what the reader gets to see is all of the story that they care about, but it's not as good to have in quests, where everything costs other opportunities.

I personally like Panoramia, but I also want to be friends with the Wolf Guy, and we need to go with the Wolf Guy now if we want deeper Wolf Guy interactions down the road.

I don't think they'll be pure social actions. I think that there'll be things like, for example, an option to delegate investigating the goblins' performance enhancing mushrooms to Panoramia, or to enlist the Gold Journemanlings assistance in codifying Mathilde's new spell by casting the relevant buffs, that will naturally involve meeting them. We might not take those actions immediately, but I think we'll take them relatively soon.

Also, Panoramia seems like the type to make her presence felt. These are meant to be independent characters with their own agendas and choices. They can choose to interact with Mathilde whether or not she goes out of her way to find them.

At least off screen, however, I'd expect that as she's their commanding officer MAthilde will have a debriefing meeting with all the journeymanlings first thing in the morning. She has a high enough Martial and was close enough to the Army of Stirland to know what her responsibilities as their commander are.

As for my preference for socializing, I'd kinda like to take Wolf to meet Grand Marshal Wulfhart, so:

If the appeal of a Quest is enjoying the read, then a scene that doesn't happen on screen effectively doesn't exist.

I am not in this thread to minmax Mathilde's feats or achievements (which my voting history should reveal), I am in this thread to try and minmax my enjoyment of reading it.

And right now, I can only think of one character I would rather have Mathilde interact with right now than Panoramia, and he's in Morr's Garden.

Yeah, I've heard that "We'll take that action relatively soon, when we can afford to" before.

It took over a hundred updates and in-universe years before we finally did so by accident. That's why that argument doesn't really sway me.

[Mathilde's cave-mapping: Martial, 100+19=119.]
Whoo-hoo! New spell and we did good generalship.

I will ever regret that we didn't get to see Kragg turn a goblin priest into a crater. Not as much as I regret not seeing the Shinies first hand but a bit.
That said he clearly didn't need any help whatsoever.

What does it say that the Rune Lord and Wizard basically walked through their opposition while the professional fighters struggled to break their foes?

[X] Master Runelord Kragg the Grim
[X] Panoramia
[X] Wolf

I cannot believe that a freaking knight is beating out our puppy for votes. You should all (well 80 of you) be ashamed. The dismal fact that a glorified sword swinger is beating out Kragg and Panoramia is barely noticeable in comparison.

I'm shocked and appalled that any living character in the quest can be preferred to a dwarf who says this '"So we're just going to mob up, charge at anything green or furry, and when it comes time to write the songs they'll sing of this day, we lie like hell." to a wizard.

I mean, really. KIng Belegar has surely shot to the top of the cool charts with that one.

The fact that Mathilde should be meeting the Journeymanlings tomorrow IC to debrief them doesn't sway you? That seems like the kind of thing that BoneyM would show OOC given the level of interest people have expressed in them. Sure, it's not guaranteed, but it makes more sense as a time and place to interact with them than right now IC. The Journeymanlings will hopefully be important people one day, but they're not important today. They can mingle with the other mid-ranking officers and make their own connections there.

The Knight rides a giant wolf into battle so is a longer term play to know how to manage a wolf. There's also a reasonably fair chance that he's an Ulrician priest, so would have extra insight into wolves from that.

Kragg is busy being angry so it's not the best time to approach him, and we've already spent enough time on Panoramia to know what she is and have Mathilde engage with her off-screen. We need to get to know the other members of Belegar's command staff better so the same becomes true for them. They could easily be just as interesting or more than Panoramia, we just haven't had the chance to find out yet as we've concentrated on the Journeymanlings previously.

I'll show you your fresh entry in the Book of Grudges later. ;)

Acronyms are fine and all, but I think this risks seeming more like a backronym. There's some degree of redundancy in the name to my ears.
I think a far more significant feature of the spell is that it's dynamic, rather than doubling up on the projected dimensions.
If it was, say....

[] Mathilde's Malleable Aethyric Projection

I might be keener.
The other reason the 'MMM' pattern appeals to me is again because of branding.
Mathilde's Mystical Matrix.
Mathilde's Malleable Model.
A recognisable pattern forms.

So as it is (and with my username!) I'll stick with

[ ] Mathildes Malleable Model

In retrospect, I'd have gone for Malleable Aethyric Projection as it flows better and is more descriptive, but I was thinking of time as a dimension that the projection had, as it wasn't static. It's too late now.

I also get the branding argument, but the attraction of the claim that the spell came first and then the word map was derived from it is too great.
