Speaks Words of Wisdom... On occasion
Going to push the security upgrade for the next turn or wait for the security AI?
Security AI is next, yeah. Need to see what our options are next turn.

-[X] The showman approach worked before, right? (2 RP)
-[X] Building a Seeker (3 RP)
--[X] Streamlined Resource Flow (+1 RP saved)
-[X] Ivanna's Support on Kaiju Biotechnology - Medium Investment (The one that keeps failing!)
A bit of a slow start to the year, but it gets the Perseus 1.0 Build started. Plus at least gets our tech guys thinking about a suitable Combination Form for it.
Now I wish we'd taken the automatic success......you SURE about taking the cheapest Air Force investigation? 2d6 Disadvantage is pretty bad.
Ooo, looks like an Armor Break ability.K-Frag! - Chalk it up to Sam's boys for their mess up to become a potential idea. Wilde and Henry noticed that the K-Scale remained fairly sharp when it shattered. Thankfully no one got hurt too badly (though Paul's going to have an interesting scar), but this does give food for thought. What if you managed to insert a charge into an enemy, then intentionally shattered it while it was inside?
No idea, but they want to find out.
...we have level headed individuals in this base?Security!!! - You fully admit to Ignatov that you're probably coming across as fairly paranoid considering what happened last year. But you want to develop a new Supercomputer AI personality whose sole job is overseeing the defenses to the DFRI Campus. Diana can do the job passably, but her focus is on tactical analyses and pilot training. Even a Supercomputer can be stretched thin on sensitive tasks.
Ignatov agrees to look into it, before pointing out, "You will want a fairly level-headed individual to base this one on."
"I would have imagined you would be celebrating," a voice says from the exit.
You look up from the customized Shade the Duo had decided was your Christmas gift.
You've only practiced with it for a few times, but your logic is that if you have to fight, things have gone horribly wrong that it wouldn't make much of a difference.
"And they typically do it with enough alcohol to give an elephant a hangover." You set aside the book you were reading, and adjust the recliner so that you're sitting straight up. "I don't exactly like crowds, and I barely get enough quiet time as it is. So while everyone else sleeps off the alcohol, I can get some rest in."
e. "My mechs are seeing similar incidents as they explore the local population centers while configured. Humans do very strange things when inebriated."
Galbinus' camera unit just glanced up at Anna, before looking back at you. "Your species are very strange."
"No argument there."
[] Ask Anna for Support. Seeing as you're handling potentially explosive information, it might not be a bad idea to call in the Intelligence Services. They're probably quite interested in seeing what this is.
Cost: 2 RP (One Time Investment)
Duration: 1 Turn
Chance for Breakthrough (2d6, Threshold of 5-6)
Increased Relations with Intelligence Services, Unlocks New Actions
[] They are Legion.
VIP Visit - Looks like General Li Jun is coming straight to you. Anna's gotten a heads up -

The opposition to it was always pretty incomprehensible. Its for low dice hard stuff too important to risk failing. We go for expanded research fields on big advantaged dice, so it was never competing to begin with
Hrm...Would it be possible to completely lop off the Super Robot Construction for this turn, in order to use more money on it next turn? Here it is. I have to leave for work so I'll be busy.
[x] Plan Beowulf's 69.99 $ Collector Edition's Day 1 Patch (game not included)
-[X] Super Robot Construction: Steed Prototype (2 RP)
--[x] Theoretical combination of the Pilum and the Steed. Do they blend?
-[X] Building a Seeker (3 RP)
--[X] Streamlined Resource Flow (+1 RP saved)
-[x] San-Ki Gattai / Triple Combination (4 RP)
-[x] Ask Anna for Support. Seeing as you're handling potentially explosive information, it might not be a bad idea to call in the Intelligence Services. They're probably quite interested in seeing what this is. (2 RP)
--[X] Katarina and Diana's Support
-[x] Try to turn him. The only question is how. Or with who, specifically. All options will cost the same.
--[x] Ichiro. A 'native-born' Kaus could have an interesting outcome when talking with Zulu. (2 RP)
-[x] By now, you've learned that commanders are incredibly busy people (you would know from personal experience!). Keep it nice and simple. Show him the Centurion's capabilities at the Proving Grounds as is, its highlights and its drawbacks, and let him decide. (1 RP)
-[x] Security!!! (2 RP)
-[X] Ivanna's Support on Kaiju Biotechnology - Medium Investment (The one that keeps failing!)
1 RP left to use for later.
Thoughts?
Remember what I said about "We want to keep this under our hat?"
This is precisely what I mean. Because either Armistead is either being honest, and he's really concerned about who might listen in for things like this, or he's bullshitting us and we nonetheless want to hide that we know this.
I don't want to beg for the Legion's assistance all the time either when they've got their own issues. But that's why I'm throwing Diana and Katarina at the problem. A 4 or better on two dice is perfectly reasonable.
Also, I don't want to put off the Perseus Build. I want a fully functional Core Unit on standby even if we're doing operations. As it is, it's going to take a season to finish.
Security!!!
Cost: 2 RP (1 RP Locked Next Turn)
Duration: 3 Turns
Develop a new AI Personality focused purely on Security. [Name a key individual in the DFRI to base this on.]
Anna Smith. Either she's a collected kind of crazy, or faking it expertly.
Something-something Takao.
Tinted windows, I think?
I think Steed/Pilum combination was already researched as viable. See under Steed entry. Also, I'd put those 2 RP somewhere, and stockpile more for the turn when Acidic Horn research ends. In the hopes that it's result is more than just a new Finishing Move. Then again,
how expensive would it be to fabricate mech-sized weapons for the main SR? I mean stuff like pilebunkers, clubs and such. Ideas for an omake I had.
@Basarin again: There is no cost indicated for combinable units, at the post linked above. I mean, how much would cost adding this unit to the core, even approximately?
I tried to sketch a rough plan for Perseus+Centurion combination. It would have been awesome if either of them had two upgrade slots, for Double Layer Zivritium Plating.
More personally, reading through the list, I wished for a system that clearly indicated which qualities are inherent in a core unit, and so won't change when combining with anything; which qualities the combinable unit adds, regardless what it combines with, and which might change in different circumstances. Although I realize that all or some of these concerns might have been addressed, if there was ever a (winning) plan that threws some "extra" RP at "let's see what happens when we do these combinations".
I think Steed/Pilum combination was already researched as viable.
Not terribly expensive in a narrative sense, though the first few iterations until you get it right (see: Dispersion Field). I typically don't count weapons specifically as their own abilities unless they really stand out somehow (so whatever comes out of the K-Frag WOULD, but things such as melee weapons that would do 'standard' damage would be lumped into the Strikes category). A pilebunker, though, would count as something
I agree with most points here, except San-Ki Gattai and the overly elaborate name.
Although, I would recommend either assigning those leftover 2 RP somewhere (and bank more next turn), or putting those 2 RP from "research Steed/Pilum combination" into the bank (and bank more this turn)
