I was about to say if there was any way we could get past it to find the controller, but leaving an enemy to our backs doesn't sound like a great alternative either.
It seems as though this thing is one part bait, one part probing. If the controller is an aberration (what else could it be?) with Psi powers, it's probably also fairly intelligent. It will likely recognize the swarm of ravens as scouts, if not as potent scouts as they actually are. Which means it is blocking off access to further on to force us to engage.
If we kill it, it will have gauged what it is facing, and then prepare appropriately further on, or else withdraw (which might be bad). If it withdraws, it will likely prepare ground for an even worse ambush if we pursue.

That's my vote, only with single-target spells instead of Fireballs due to greater damage-per-spell efficiency?
Keep in mind you still have to get in the tunnel to have line of sight.

It's Huge-sized and apparently blocks the entire tunnel. Resilient Sphere is unlikely to be large enough, and if it did succeed, we wouldn't be able to get around it.
