@Deliste, I'm giving it a 99% chance that the first 9th level spell we get will be Astral Projection on TNEs and Goldfishs insistence, so the entire argument is disingenuous.

Furthermore, there is an Astral Cord between the bodies and a body for whom all are cut dies.

No worries on that from me. I've always hated the Astral Projection spell and generally pretend it simply doesn't exist. I doubt I'll change that policy any time soon.

Fortunately for us we've got the whole "holding back apocalypses" thing on our side and the fact that the Seven are anything but helpful to justify us swearing ourselves to the Old Gods and performing blood sacrifice. It'll be hard to explain, but it would be understandable.

To say nothing of explaining how cosmology actually works, and just because the Faith decry us doesn't mean we automatically go to hell. Shit, they've even got the number of hells wrong.

But that's an argument for another time since DP would probably chide us for being too analytical. :(

EDIT: Also, the laws we drew up with Waymar regarding how only the enemies of humanity are eligible for sacrifice are finally--for once--going to come in handy.

Don't talk about disembowelment. Don't talk about disembowelment. Don't talk about--

"We did a lot of gardening afterwards."

Nailed it.
Rhaella: "Son. Why have the locals bound a strawman to that tree? And why did they use pig guts for it and hung the leftovers on the branches?"
Viserys: "... I have no idea ..."

V: "Look... I can explain."

R: "Explain. Explain frequent blood sacrifice?"

V: "There is a reasoning beyond simple expediency or channeling conceptual forces at work here..."

R: Sweetly. "Fewer words, dear."

V: "Ghk..."

D: "Oh dear."

R: "What?"

D: "He'll be struggling like that for a while."

R: "Why?"

S.R: "He has a lot to say... all of little substance."

"Obviously we spend the next few hours feasting. Gods Viserys, it's called breaking fast for a reason."

Edit:

I wonder how Mother takes the man-smart Dragon, is that weird to her?

She really must be lost in a whirlwind.

Her son can turn into a Dragon but Viserys knows Magic.
Human+Magic=Dragon. Logical.

Dragon being man-smart means what? A Dragon learnt magic?

But how if not man-smart, a horse or tiger does not learn magic. Do they?

Perhaps anything can become magic.

Or maybe it's another man with magic, who lives as a Dragon.

Does Viserys live as a Dragon?

Do men live as horses?

[X] With brevity "Sorcerer's Deep was taken overnight and without undue loss of life. It's really a story left best for another time. A few days from now at most."
-[X] Talk about the things we're proud of accomplishing since the conquest.
-[X] Talk of Sorcerer's Deep reminds you to send a Message ahead to prepare for our V.I.Ps

It took realising she could realistically be asking herself the question "Do men live as horses?" but I now think she needs some time to chill out, she needs an abode to retire to before hearing half this stuff.

Ideally a good chunk of time will be spent on giving her the magical primer, we've had to explain it enough times.

Though I would like it if we are not the only ones explaining maybe richard and dany can help to.

The explanation itself is very short actually: 'I wanted to wring all possible use from my victory.' It's trying to make it palatable that uses a lot of words

Really it's the sign of a man less prone to bloodshed if anything.

Regular men with regular means have to spill far more blood to accomplish their goals, just messily so without care where it fall.

I'm going to need a vote for what you do next and what you explain to Rhaella as you do it.

What do you tell Rhaella about your time in Braavos?

How will you present your conquest of the Stepstones?
That's a payback for infodump we voted for earlier, isn't it?

"It's not really blood sacrifice, Mother, though admittedly, blood is frequently involved. More accurately, I sacrifice either the soul or the essential life force of the subject. It depends on whether I choose to sacrifice the subject to my pet snake god, or to the semi-sentient shade tree in my keep's courtyard."

We need like a catchup pamphlet for all the people who join viserys so that they can know the important shit in like an 80 page document would make this so much easier.

I was going to say something about the symbolism of snakes not chewing but then I realised neither do trees.

We should really hammer in on these points:
1. We never sacrifice anything less than the enemies of humanity: Deep Ones, Fiends, cultists, etc.
2. The sacrifices are used to give us strength to hold back the encroaching darkness.

Those two points are the crux of the matter and give perfectly reasonable explanations for our blood sacrifice.

[X] The World Is Changed - Pt 2
-[X] "On leaving Braavos we took ship to Tyrosh, as we'd heard rumours of the Archon's need for sorcery and a considerable promised reward that could be of use in my first plans for the Stepstones." Give a short breakdown of our time in Tyrosh, but let's not go mentioning Leila at this juncture. An important point here is to begin showing how powerful otherworldly beings can be without those with power and the knowledge to recognise them. Two Outsiders successfully taking control of an entire Free City (if in name only) is a rather effective point. This shows that we stayed true to our desire to protect from the misuse of magic, but also that we did so with greater aims in mind.
-[X] "From there, we moved on to the village of Saltcliff. We sought a hideaway for a time, to prepare for the conquest of what is now Sorcerer's Deep, and found it there." Short brief of our time in Saltcliff and our preparations for taking Torturer's Deep. Further contact with Dorne, etc. Leave out Dany going raiding at the age of seven. Preparation, networking, etc. Not exciting, but sometimes less exciting is a good thing.
-[X] "With our preparations, and the aid of various allies, Torturer's Deep fell in a single night, and with little in the way of lost life." Note that we've discussed this already, after she first awoke. Be a little more open in that our foes here were of a sorcerous nature, but stay away from the...more unpleasant sides of it. Torturer's Deep falls. Keep it simple, but don't whitewash. Stay away from mentioning the part of a True Dragon in that, it will create so many more questions than we have time for.
-[X] Further, somewhat sanitised explanations on the matters of our growth in the Stepstones, then use our departure for Volantis as an effective stopping point. That's where we really start to get into the more esoteric and blatant magics, so giving her some time between this and that is probably wise.

I think this gets most of it across, and she's asking about our conquest of the Stepstones, not SD. @DragonParadox we've actually already discussed some of this, hence the shorter vote I'm presenting. For those who would want to argue for brevity, we don't really want to be too short with her. There's a lot of knowledge that still needs translating across, and she doesn't have the framework to ask many of the questions that we need to answer.

I don't know if we should be using such absolutes. When you say "enemies of humanity" and qualify it with monsters and madmen, you leave out other avenues of sacrifice, such as slavers, Aurane Waters, the asshole knight who challenged Richard when we first met the Renplacement, etc.
