Man I would love to see a Negaverse of Maretonia with the players finding out that most of their slaves have been jacked and have a drop in their income or noble relations.

Then having everything start to implode after the next turn.

Not a writer but something along this
Gm of Maretonia quest during the reveal its Griffionia doing: Apparently holding a group of Kingdoms people in slavery after they just got done fighting a war to keep their freedom against Sombra of all people and then demanding alot of money for their people freedom was a bad ideal who'd a fucking thought :p

You didn't tell us they had James Bond level spies!

GM: One I'm the GM I can't hold your hands two even I am under the mercy of the Dice Gods this could have been much worse.
NegaPlayerCharacter: How much worse?
GM: Well besides what your dealing with now the dice result could have them full black ops killing your nobles during the rescue ops and the worst case is them sending their diamond dog intrigue hero unit from the Sombra war with a rather interesting name.
NPC1: What's his name?
NPC2: I think the GM messing with us it's a diamond dog we have a lot under our control what can it do.
GM: For one his name is Captain Karl Kaboom and he made his name by leading several of his kind to burrow underground and blow the crap out of Sombra mines end result was dice 133 which destroyed the crystal mines shutting down production and throwing Sombra war economy in chaos this was about five years before invasion and rolled a 93 end result to blow Crystal City walls during the actual invasion.
NPC2: Well shit I think we should get a peace treaty with them.
NPC1: Yeah no shit.
:p
edit note: alright end of that taped out of creativity.

Besides the possibility of nightmare moon, the dice could get weird and Luna might be in charge with Daybreaker banished to the sun.

Or no alicorns.

But I think we have a lot of other neighbors to meet first. I am happy to see the quest evolve on its own.

Someone should flesh this out into a proper omake so we can get a bonus. Maybe basing it off the canon Maretonia omake.

We got Pony Merlin, what next? He's gonna ask us to pull a sword from a stone or something?

Garrick: So you want me to pull this sword out of this rock?

Merlin: Yes.

Garrick: Why?

Merlin: Well... according to legend, whoever free's this sword shall become the once and future king and eternal ruler of the world.

Garrick: sigh... look, despite what the Imperial Cult says i'm not some sort of Glowing Golden Griffon God.

Garrick: *Proceeds to pull out the sword and turns into a Glowing Golden Griffon God*

Merlin: ...

Garrick: ...

Garrick: Bugger...
Garrick: I am putting this back and this had never happened, you understand?

Absolutely amazing. I wish I could write the way you do. You paint an amazing picture of the Crystal Protectorate and it's inhabitants, and I absolutely love your characterization of Gustav and Konrad.

+20 to a roll. The only reason I don't give you more is because it would unbalance the game.

It heartens me to see this Quest inspire such amazing omakes.

Love it. We need more song-based omakes in this thread. +10 to a roll!

On a somewhat related note: I imagine that the Emperor held a sort of contest to compose a national anthem for the Empire, prompting all kinds of entries...including one from Karl Kaboom.

Emperor Garrick: "Karl, you can't use explosions as musical instruments."

Karl Kaboom: "Yes I can. We're going to have twenty-one of them."

Garrick: "Karl no."

Kaboom: "Karl yes."

Removing the Archives option was due to mechanical and narrative reasons. I couldn't have you guys digging up Ancient schematics every turn, if for no other reason than I'd eventually run out of things to give you...and what would have happened if you rolled a 1?

A necronomicon sounds awesome until it completely derails the quest.

Besides, I wanted the new Empire to be a truly new Empire, not an imitation built upon the ruins of the old one.

Relying on ancient schematics rather than inventing things yourself is a bit too 40K for this universe. At least, that's my opinion.
Late on this, but can't you make an option to catalogue the archives and just give a flat bonus to any relevant research we haven't done or unlock additional actions if their are any?

Maybe it can give a bonus to learning training rolls since the archives could be updated and modernized.

For anyone wondering, the new update adds a bunch of flavor events like that one depicting our future decedent's rise from childhood to emperor. It's all absolutely adorable and you should absolutely play Griffon Empire. And purge the republicans.

Meeh, onnce I can get into HOI 4 I´ll probably roll Harmonic Changelings just for kicks.

I have been checking and there are a lot of races which are sentient in this world from dragons, sirens, cows, goats, penguins, minotaur, donkey, brezies, whathever Ahuzotl is(magical guardians?),zebra, buffalo, changelings, monsters, tireks and scorpans race, storm creatures, celaanos species, abysinians, sprinh, kludgetown residents,deer,gremlins...
anybody wants to take a gander what their cultures would be?
Might be fun to speculate

Man reading what our people went through as slaves I'm surprised we aren't frothing at the mouth and going all MARETONIA DELENDA EST! on their ass in a red rage.

With some decent speeches we can whip our troops into such a fury that they wouldn't stop and do whatever it takes for revenge. Especially the Crystal Knights.

Also how strong is Hardbeak? What bonus to rolls does he get?

I want Hardbeak to use this phrase if he ever meets a tough opponent.

"Who decided that?"

Against the Dragon King

Hardbeak and the Dragon King had traded blows for several hours prior, hardbeak's blows having no effect on the mighty scales of the dragon even as the dragon's breath had burnt and melted much of his black steel armor.

As hardbeak stood there, ash in the air drifting around him the dragon laughs.

"Give it up bird, you cannot harm me and it is only a matter of time before your armor fails you or you slow down and die. Surrender now and I shall make your death a quick one." The dragon says to which hardbeak grins.

"My blows have no effect?" He says with a chuckle "Who decided that?" He asks before he flashes forward with incredible speed outpacing his previous speed several times over leaving a massive gash on the dragon's skin as the scales in the area shatter.

"It seems I am getting old, a few years ago that would have cut you in two." He says with a small bow "I apologize for my weakness in ending you cleanly." The dragon is reeling in shock.

"HOW?!! HOW CAN YOU PENETRATE MY SCALES!!" He screams in shock and terror. "With great ease now that they have been weakened." Hardbeak says as his muscles bulge and an aura reminiscent of an unsheethed blade fills the air making the dragon roar in fear and deviance "NO, I AM FAFNIR THE DRAGON KING, HE OF THE INVINCIBLE SCALES!!" He roars as he stands tall even as his eyes scan for a way to escape "I CAN NOT BE DEFEATED!!" He roars before hardbeak vanishes from sight and with a click of his blade returning to his sheath the dragon feels a sharp pain on his neck. "Im...Poss...ib...le" he manages to get out as the head slides down and the last thing the Dragon King, who ruled through Greed and Brute Force saw was a knight in black armor looking down upon him with dissapointment.

Just a random thing that popped into my head

I love it! Glad I was able to inspire your muse. Old Man Hardbeak is going to be legendary.

I just imagine him retiring to a litte patch of land and farming well into his hundreds when he retires (I kind of want to see him still be alive in a few generations and be a legend but nobody recognizes the old farming grif as the hero of the empire) and then some chick figures it out and pesters him to teach him how to be a knight and he steadfastly refuses until hardbeak gives in.

Cue about a decade later and hardbeak dies leaving behind an apprentice who goes out to become a knight and hero like his master.

Cue rumor mill of a wandering knight with a black blade and armor setting right injustice and doing great deeds. A true hero and give options to track down this mystery knight.

Thus leads to The Legacy of Hardbeak

This Old Man Won't Die!

lol. Man I wonder if Hardbeak will actually get stronger with age as his skill increases.

I think he would stagnate in power level due to him continuelly compensating for his weakening body with greater and greater skill.

That gives me a rather epic idea.

In his final battle, the ancient griffon has a spell cast on him that will return him to his peak of youth for a full minute before causing him to die.

In that one minute with the strength of his youth and the skill he had hones to maintain his combat prowess even into his twilight years... He slaughtered the whole army singlehandedly. As he stood atop the mountain of corpses he looked to the sky and grinned. His last words being "My duty is complete, my final battle is won. It is time for the greatest journey of them all. Goodbye Gryphonia, may you endure for millennia more." Before his body turns to dust and is scattered to the winds just as the sun sets.

The day is declared one of mourning the passage of one of the greatest heroes of the Empire and a memorial is erected at the site of the battle with his final words inscribed upon it with his likeness cast in bronze (Bronze is the longest surviving metal and can endure weather conditions for a ridiculous amount of time compared to stone).

"Here this monument stands as both a memorial and a symbol to the Greatest Knight the Empire has ever known. On these fields Hardbeak fought a full 100,000 enemies of the empire and not only stopped their advanced but slayed them that they may never threaten the empire again. It is here he sacrificed his life through the usage of a powerful ritual to restore him to his prime at the cost of his life and is here he was scattered to the winds. We shall never forget his heroism nor his sacrifice."

The statue being him standing tall with his house words inscribed upon the sigil on his chest plate. "Duty, Honor, Virtue"
