Things are going so well, I think Discord may just break out of his stone prison out of sheer frustration:
"OH COME ON! I've been gone for less than a century! You can't just fix things this quickly! You barely even had one total war! ONE."

So, basically this.

Qilin emperor: finally! Someone that I can treat as an equal and that can understand how hard being an emperor is! We're gonna be best friends you and I. might I share with you this Elixir of eternal youth? We emperors gotta stick together after all!
Nice! I was thinking more the diplomat you sent was a former trooper at Redstone pass and a when it came up he gave a retelling of the battle in such detail of both the horror and the glory that jaws were dropped. Now the Emperor himself and all his court are torn between sadness at the losses we had to suffer and awe at what we managed despite the odds against us with our sacrifice. As such they feel honor bound to lend us their full aid in putting down the monster Sombra as well as opening up trade instantly because they are hungry for natural resources.

Welp, i guess that we are the MLP!Axis Powers now.

Germany and Japan get along in every dimension.
Don't forget Italy!

I had to

So we have German griffins and diamond dogs, Japanese pony now we need some Italians....can we get some stereotypical Italian yak with a pizza shop and weird accent?
Feathersian city are clearly Italian's city-state.
There are no ponies. The not-japanese are dragon descendants.
We actually never got a confirmation that they're the Qilin.

We just assumed it cause of their ships' design ( a pre-industrial Japanese type of sail-ship if I remember right)

Actually @Questor are these the Kirins from the show or are they a different race?

I wonder what historical age of Japan Questor will take inspiration from for the Qillin. The importance and unchallenged power of the Emperor either suggests pre-medieval times or post restauration, and i think we can count out the latter since that would be a bit advanced.

Heian period would be pretty cool. Lots of fascinating culture, lots of intrigue and a very spiritual people. Less of a focus on the whole bushido warrior caste thing that Japan always gets flanderized for.

We already have that niche covered, after all.

[X] A True Golden-Feather

Our Dragon daughter is getting a Martial education alongside her mother. We haven't gone into the secondary education for her yet. Will probably do some stewardship for her or double on to Marital.
I really hope people will recognize that pure martial focus for Gwyndlyn is a bad idea.
  • As a dragon, living for battle and not having much in terms of intellectual interests could bring her more aggressive instincts to the fore.
  • As designated regent, over her millennia of lifetime she'll have the longest overall tenure ruling the empire. She needs a solid grounding in administration and diplomacy. The fate of the empire may well depend on it.
Combine both, and doubling down on martial may well mean that, once she sits on the throne, she'd bury her grief (over the death of whatever family member was the previous ruler) under anger and declare war against whatever nation makes for a convenient target.

It should be noted that if every other member of our family that could claim the throne is dead, chances are we are either at war or in civil war. In which case, we want the regent to be the ultimate failsafe, as capable of fending off whatever threat that has managed to strike at the heart of the Empire as possible.

Sure, there is the remote possibility of plagues or intrigues doing the deed, but it seems unlikely considering Griffon inheritance law doesn't seem to care about how distantly related to the Imperial Family you are going by how Garrick was selected.

We could also get some pretty good trade deals going. If nothing else, Japan is known for having rather poor quality iron deposits while we've just set ourselves up for mass production of quality metals, and as an island nation they have issues with arable land that our mushrooms could help with as well.

Considering Discord's chaos did erase the royal family to the point where we were the sole remaining descendant, and it'll be decades until our potential grandchildren would be of age, there are very few deaths between her and the throne. And since Garrick is stupid enough to risk both himself and his wife against Sombra himself where only a roll of 80 saved us from "Sombra kills one of the three pests in front of him", we might win the war but lose the royal couple.

I also didn't see any response on her draconic nature?
