--Adela: Can someone explain to me why so many people want to recruit her for the project? I must have missed something in an update or another. That said she does have 20 Learning, more than any other of the candidates does expect Panoramia, which we don't know a single stats about (kind of weird, that, you would think we would know more about her than any of the others. Hum, maybe she IS a black magister after all? Hahaha).
Adela is the most research-focused of the three Ducklings. Hubert's not really academic focused, what with Ulric and swording, and Gretel became a mercenary. Adela's the one who develops her own guns with dwarf help and works with the gunnery school and wanted her name on a paper with Mathilde. Basically, what she's doing already fits in really well with the WEBMAT charter.

@BoneyM Just to know, how big is the Silver Tower and in which state of disrepair is it?

Very big. Like, one quarter the height of Karagril big. Burj Khalifa big. It'll need some work to be liveable and pretty again, but it's not in any danger of structural collapse, because Dwarves.

At first i was surprised at how low value Johann was, but i guess it's called gilding, not transmute to gold.
Which is probably for the best, it would be hell on floors to have a human sized solid gold statue traipsing around.

Only about a tenth of the gold used in the ritual is recoverable from the body.

The Ranald Grudge thing however I thought it would be something we would have to talk with the High King about? Although I figured that Ranald himself is laughing his ass off about the whole thing my fear was that the Signatites would use a dwarf grudge as a justification for banning Ranald or something like that.

It was a decision made by the Ancestor Cults, not the High King, and the proclamation pretty much said they're taking a 'wait and see' approach to decide whether Ranald's alleged actions were actually to the benefit of the Karaz Ankor or not. There's nothing more that needs saying. And any Sigmarite that really tries to point to Mathilde as a crime against Dwarfdom done by Ranald would be met with a lot of bemused stares from anyone that's heard of Karak Eight Peaks or Karak Vlag.

@BoneyM it safe to assume that the option to recruit Horstmann isn't a limited only to this turn? if not does that mean if we take a social action with him he will tell us if he interested in it or not?

This sounds like an excellent idea for an omake.

...if only I was any good at writing them. ;_;

Well, I am pretty sold here...

By the way @BoneyM I suppose that we can still recruit some of the Ducklings for the WEBMAT after this turn ... But we will be able to use the half-action of the Ducking club to do it or we will need to use our Personal Relations action for that?

Does Panoramia actually want to go to Magister Exams? Last time we talked, it felt as if she wasn't really keen about taking them.

The main options I've seen kicked around for our Duckling actions are "recruit Adela" or "study more Windshrooms with Panoramia." I am curious, though: are there reasons why "study the Ghyran-seed with Panoramia" or "help her prep for Magister" aren't popular? I'm not married to any of the options (though I'm not high on trying to recruit Adela), I'm just wondering why two of these have gotten a lot of discussion and the other two haven't.
For "help her prep for Magister" Pan has not really shown a lot of interest in it.

and while it can be argued that Mathy has a bit of a social obligation as the big wizard in town to poke a journeyman into doing their exam if they are ready.

its not actually her legal obligation as Pan is not a grey journeyman, and poking your girlfriend into taking a potentially dangerous exam they don't want to do is a couch offence.

Mathilde has had several of her Grey College senpais comment on the Expedition. She's had Belegar give his take on the Grudge thing. Believe me, I get the desire to really wallow in it for a good long time, but the low-hanging 'reactions' are done. As Algard said: "Our work is rarely seen and even rarer appreciated. Temper your expectations accordingly. A job performed well needs to be its own reward, for we so rarely see any other."
I dunno, Mathilde has be pretty consistently rewarded. One of the perks of working for dwarfs, I guess.

There was even that one time she got her god almost grudged, which from the threads reaction was a very great reward indeed!

There will not be Duckling Club actions after this turn.
I would suggest you add this information to the Post, @BoneyM it seems quite important.

Besides that, what we would need to do to recruit the Ducklings? Social actions or WEBMAT actions?

And if we recruit them, are we going to have problems with their previous if we poach them? Or will it be more like an "when you finish your current contract here you are invited to this new institution"? Or membership of the WEBMAT would it still be compatible with their currents job?

WEB-MAT.

There's a reason it says 'try to' with them where it doesn't with Johann and Max. Part of trying to recruit them will be trying to find a way to address those previous obligations. So, try it and find out.

By the way, what happened with the attack on the Okral? Or will that be explained later?

Nothing happened. The perpetrators are still at large and the Karaz Ankor doesn't even know who to level the Grudge against.

this has changed things for me.

I'm honestly thinking it might be a good idea to use the Coin to help recruit Horstmann. If we fail to recruit him for WEBMAT it's pretty likely we never will, and it seems like the option that has the greatest impact on the future of the quest.

I'm okay with using the Coin on Ulgu Tongs as well, though.

Right, so for now I think that:

-[ ] Plan Foundations
--[ ] MAX: Recruit him into the research branch of WEB-MAT (NEW)
--[ ] JOHANN: Recruit him into the research branch of WEB-MAT (NEW)
--[ ] DUCK: Attempt to recruit someone into the research branch of WEB-MAT (Who: Adela) (NEW)
--[ ] EIC: Suggest Eike spend a few weeks in Karak Eight Peaks, so she can grow familiar with Dwarves and their ways.
--[ ] In Karag Zilfin, just below Cython's territory
--[ ] Gain enough control of your unruly shadow to still it temporarily.
--[ ] Gain enough control of your attraction to smoke and gases to have it collect away from your face.
--[ ] Branulhune's ability to disappear and reappear at a thought allows entirely new forms of combat. Continue to work on them.
--[ ] Attempt to finish off the Grey College spellbook by learning Shadow of Death, Cloak Activity, and the MAPP.
--[ ] Write a paper: Daemonic Concealment of Karak Vlag (FRESH)
--[ ] PENTHOUSE: Build a basic tower of single-Wind environments for each of the 'missing' Winds: Light, Amber, Amethyst, and Gold: 300gc for four towers.
--[ ] The Gambler: Library

I was between putting the coin on the Library or into the paper but the paper is Fresh so is easier to write even with the -10 from overwork. The rest is just low-risk training that will not be much of a problem if it fails.

I would personally like to help Pan with the Magister Exams, but many others would rather not pressure her and let her take the exam when she thinks she it ready...
For "help her prep for Magister" Pan has not really shown a lot of interest in it.

Point of fact: the option in question isn't "chivvy Panoramia into taking her exams," it's "help her prepare for the exams." People talk about it as though it were the former, but that's not what the option says.
[ ] DUCK: Panoramia's about ready to test for Magister, but she's putting it off because she doesn't have a lot of free time to prepare. Work with her to help make the most of every spare minute.
So I don't think viewing it as pressuring her is justified. People prepare for exams well in advance all the time. We did; we did a lot of prep for our Magister exams in the turns before actually going to Altdorf and testing.
We have one duckling action left, so it's hotly contested between time-sensitive tasks. Panoramia feels no pressing need to become a Magister, and the nut can be poked by the Golds.
I mean, I think poking an object of Ghyran with someone who understands Ghyran is more likely to pay dividends than just the material science lads, but the point about "there's a bunch of stuff we want to do and this is our last Duckling Club action" is valid. It's just that I'm wondering why people are more interested in the mushrooms than the seed we spent an obscene amount of money on.

100% agreed.
