How much fuel do we have? We are planning on carrying a lot of cows on the landships. Wouldn't that increase the fuel requirements? Would we have enough for the whole trip?

BTW, wasn't Asarnil's personal tent on top of the Urmskaladrak? Does that mean he lost most of his stuff?

The stuff he brought, yes. He's been a mercenary long enough to know not to bring his nicest tent on a trip into the Chaos Wastes.

The weight of the cows isn't that much when compared to the weight of the steam-wagons.

I don't see how helping Taalite knights with their work suddenly became much better alternative now than on any other leg of the journey. On other hand, diplomatic contact with Yusak is something Mathilde can uniquely contribute by to Expedition, this form of reconnaisance isn't going to be done by anyone else.

Also, while I am personally for stealing a chalice on return trip as opposed to now, there is one more yet unmentioned point of risk - Liljana can die before we return at this point on trip back, and even she somehow would be inclined to tell us everything she knows about it, seemingly only she can locate it over long distance, so her survival is required for repaying a debt.

Have we gotten confirmation he's actually the ruler of drazk? Given everything that's happened in the area butterflies have been making hurricanes.

It seems that he is.

"Since we now know for sure that Birdmuncha is dead, I've had my Rangers prodding Karak Drazh to get the name of their new Warboss. Apparently they now answer to Warboss Gorfang the Hungry, which according to captured Skaven intelligence," he pauses as he grimaces at the thought, "was the Big Boss in charge of the Red Fang's Underway front before the Battle of the Caldera."

Gorfang the Hungry sounds like the sort of name name Gorfang Rotgut might have had before he became powerful enough to get a bit of a belly, Rotgut was also the ruler of Karak Drazh, and he was also in charge of the Red Fang.

It's probably Gorfang Rotgut.

On the other hand she could have died at literally any other point in the journey. If the her steam wagon had been the one to go over the edge it would've been the same thing, that's the kind of chance the ice witches took when they sent her. It's not on us to completely mitigate it.

Hold on, we still have a powerstone, right? @BoneyM, how hard would it be to develop a dirty powerstone-boost for Rite of Way that could get the steam-wagons over the gap on the way back?

No worries.
One of the strengths of the thread is that it is full of clever people who will find out clever ways to solve problems.
One of the weaknesses of the thread is that it is full of clever people who will keep finding clever ways to solve problems even once told that no, they can't.
We are clever people passionate about the story and sometimes it gets the better of us. :)

When we first met the Dolgan, rolls were made on whether who we met served the Four or the Eight. I'm not keen on repeating that roll more than necessary.
Diplomatic contact with the Yusak has significant odds of meeting an active Chaos worshipper(as determined by dice roll), which would be a failure and not worth the action in my view.

Furthermore, this stretch is where scouting is the most important. It's the most dangerous leg, there are more active and mobile factions here, we have diplomatic missions where firsthand knowledge can be useful like the chaos grail, not to mention that it also lets us observe the Dolgan territory firsthand before meeting them. Plus, we may get a chance to see Esbern, Seija, or Joerg.

To be fair a quick search shows that using a Powerstone was the only seemingly reasonable solution that wasn't proposed previously at some point.

Since Boney said it could be wrote in :

[X]Attempt to make contact with the Dolgan
-[X]With Johann
[X]Attempt to make contact with the Yusak
-[X]With Johann

I'm adding those two since Johann is fast enough to accompany us, more diplomatic than mathilde, crafty enough and great in a fight.

Not sure if I'm doing the write-in right since it's a sub-option?

It was suggested in the context of using it with burning shadows to melt the stones.
It also mentioned Substance of shadow, which I guess could maybe perhaps be used to like, drive straight through the rocks depending on their metaphysical weight or whatever SoS uses to determine what can be walked through and what can't.

And whether the steam tanks counts as one object i guess?

edit:NVM, checked the size requirements, much too large.

If we do come under attack, the far scouts of the Knights of Taal will be first to detect it. I treat scouting far ahead as being on the frontlines if we come into any unexpected contact - to help either with diplomacy or fighting.

If Mathilde was inside the steam tanks with Max while he used the gold logic thingy spell, could we use substance of shadow on him to yeet him out? or better yet, precast it on him (and maybe the drivers) so they can jump out?

granted this would only work at whatever time of day that particular pass is covered in shadow.

edit:well, probably won't work on Max since he would be under the effects of Chamon.

No, different winds do not mix. No casting Ulgu on someone using Chamon.

No casting on dwarves at all.

We can't afford bad ground making the wagons fail - if anything happen, we don't have Gotrek to fix it.

I still want to talk to Joerg, see what's up with him. I see no problem with squeezing one social action out of things, and scouting ahead seems as lacking as before.
