The land could be used for the interests of the college and the Empire.

How would this land be useful, the border princes are completely lawless, you can have all the titles in the world but it only matters if you can enforce them. That would require an enormous amount of work for little gain neither we nor the colleges nor the empire need any land in the border princes.

So anyone want to write up a negaverse omake of one of our enemies getting a look at the Army's unique character sheets, then they get to Mathilda.

Er. It's not precisely a full on royalty title. It is property, land. You can call yourself whatever you like in the Border Princes. Her Most Illustrious Queen of Ulgu Mathilde Weber is about as valid as Lord Emperor Baldred the Great of the Kingdom of Bellanoma - both of which could be just, like, tiny villages of 300 people and a single wall and a few farms. The land is the important thing, owning it and maintaining it is entirely another matter. Having land in the Border Princes technically makes you a Border Prince or Princess, but effectively it just means you have land. The deed is, as I read it, acknowledged legitimacy of claim to the land by the dwarfs. They aren't legitimizing a truly royal title, they're giving you land in an area where you're allowed to call yourself whatever you want when you're there. And the legitimate claim to the land is made doubly legitimate by assurance.
Also worth noting, a 'legitimate claim' to land in the Border Princes is generally worth about as much as the paper it's printed on to the locals. There are plenty of quite literal bandit princes.

[X] Do not purchase the title of a Border Princess.

No. No. No. No. No. No. No.

There is no reason to buy this title. None. Not for a Grey Wizard. And certainly not for a Noble of Stirland. We already have land and people and enough options to keep us from being bored for years. Not only would it be another time sink, but it's the kind of thing that can get people into big trouble. Specifically geopolitical trouble. For the love of Sigmar can we not!?

The purchase I dislike is the Lustrian eggs. If they hatch at all we'll have tiny hatchling dinosaurs no one knows how to properly care for in the middle of an intense military campaign. Wolf is a familiar, we have a good idea how mature he'll be by the time we reach the hold and the training and use of large dogs is a well understood art in the Empire. None of this applies to mystery box lizards which will probably be a useless drain on resources. The hidden roll might have been a 1 after all - pay 200 gp for a liability.

I intend to vote gifting them to Seija the very next week.

I imagine two WHFB players comparing dwarven army rosters then one of them exclaims:
-You spent 450 points worth of magic items to equip WHO?
It would probably be more like a Dwarf player and a Skaven and/or Orc player comparing lists. With the dwarf player taking a lot fewer Casters than expected after dumping most of his points in two characters.

Makes sense. A land deed is only of value when someone's backing it and there's no one who would actually do that, I seriously doubt the dwarfs would send military backup to secure a pile of worthless orc covered crap, at least not without spending valuable dwarf favor.

I'd perhaps reconsider if someone could come up with an actual reason to buy the place and to give to someone else isn't a good reason. If we don't want it because it's worthless then why would anyone else want it?

The eggs are potentially very valuable (or potentially filled with corpses, or worse, ripperdactyls) the scales are definitely valuable (and might even be worth college favor if we found an enchanter in need of material) but the land appears to be completely worthless. The money would be better spent hiring mercenaries to take over a piece of borderland rather than buying a worthless title.

We literally have two Amber wizards with the magical intuition to manage all animals. As Mathilde said in the update itself, worst case she has an interesting exotic anatomy study. Her new talisman is also handy in terms of protecting her from anything a hatchling, however aggressive, might try, which is good for taming. Step 1 is almost always to show the critter it can't do anything to you

Well, ACTUAL worst case would be live dragon eggs with momma still looking for it :p

[x] Purchase the title of a Border Princess (300 gc).

I vote for this purely because Princess Mathilde sounds cool and would probably be a fun plot point. Besides, even if the title itself provides no valuable land or anything else, it'll lead to interesting interactions.

We could be the wizard who left a knight and came back a princess.

The other things are pretty much new things we'll never bother looking into as we already have other things to deal with, like the Liber Mortis or Qhaysh juice.

Play to some our strengths, and makes sure we know how these mages handle in a real fight. We are the ones in charge of them, so we should logically make sure they aren't going to scream and flee the moment they see anything scarier then a spider.

Although I feel the majority of burden to dispell magic have shifted over to Kragg, having more people that can cast dispell in a pinch seems smart for me.

Even if we buy the land, by the time we would be able to check it out it would probably be conquered by somebody else and/or burned to the ground.
