On a side note, if the Waagh power works the same here as in 40k, we might actually see Mathilde's powers grow from the ork belief that she's zoggin' dangerous just to be around. Or at least K8P.
Na. They'll start following her 'cause she'll krump them with her shadow otherwise. Get on her bad side and she'll end you without even a proper fight. That's right terrifying

(one, brooding and angry and indecisive, has a fraction of His attention here, but in the same way that a fraction of your attention might linger on the throb of an old scar)

I assumed this was Gazul again at first, in the sense of Gunnars being an avatar of His will, though if that's how it works could also be Grimnir living vicariously through Slayers.

Dunno about the Horned Rat. He only has one small time follower in the entire Eight Peaks, and if that's enough for Him to be included in this so should every other God of Man, Halfling and Dwarf.

Has anyone else ever come close to killing that many orks before?

Quex likely shits on this record based on when he rearranged the continents considering what it did to the Karaz Ankor, and I can imagine Nagash might as well from his ascension ritual draining his homeland, I would be surprised if there wasn't a good few million greenskins spread throughout it at the time at the very least, but coming third place to Mazdamundi and Nagash is pretty acceptable as things go :p

Edit: Quex, not Mazdamundi

That was Quex, not Mazdamundi. And the most destructive spell ever cast was the Deliverance of Itza, which killed over 2 million daemons and keeps at it for over 5000 years.

She was in communion with the Divine, immersed in the Warp, and saw it all go down. Her knowledge of the Warp might allow her to make educated guesses.
Has she ever experienced such a large scale magical event before? She knew vaguely that divines were watching but that is hardly communion. She was decidedly not immersed in the warp since she was firmly in reality when she pulled the trigger.

I am not saying that there won't be wide spread magical effects. What I am saying is I doubt that Mathilde would have anyway to know about what those are or be able to currently detect them given she is in pitched battle.

One thing I forgot to add, Mathilde might have been the wielder (maybe conduit is even a better term) but Eye of Gazul is the result of work of Kragg, several Grey Magisters/Wizard Lords and Mathilde. Some runesmith apprentices too, iirc.

I am not sure she can be said to have done anything single-handedly.

And Mathilde certainly has no way of knowing what- if anything- Teclis or any other wizard halfway across the world noticed, and would do if they did.

I would not say so, when Mathilde kills something with her sword she does not share credit with Kragg, same principle here. The eye is a weapon, though sharing credit with Gazul does make sense since he is responsible for the fire

I didn't see anything indicating she was fully immersed in the Aethyr. Rather, it was more akin to feeling the sun on oneself ortasting the air of the sea, not diving in and taking notes and video. She was not in communion with the divine either. She was at best standing in earshot of them as they wandered nearby.

Unfortunately, whilst 500,000 deaths is amazing... it probably includes snotlings. I imagine we hit a higher percentage of orcs, given that the snotlings were mostly digging, but this isn't over.
Considering there was only supposed to be 400.000 orcs, I certainly hope it includes snotlings.

... Actually, given that a plausible explanation could be zombie orcs lead by someone wielding the crown of sorcery I kinda wish we killed more orcs than should be present.

I think that having the crown of sorcery anywhere near us is a very very bad thing. So I really hope that is not the case. Also given that in a canon that never was Azhag the slaughterer finds the crown in 2515 in the north we should be ok.

Oh! Imagine the faces on the Magisters on the Bright Order when they find out that an Ulgu (of all fragging things) artifact just killed over 500.000 greenskins in one activation.
It's going to be glorious.

Thinking of next steps, I wonder what the options are. Investigate the Karak Drazh underway perhaps? Or go spelunking for any surviving bosses in the snotling tunnels. We may have already increased our Warboss count by one for today, but if not we don't want a kill stealer to get him first.

Another thought. With their connections to the Aethyr severed, I wonder what happened to the half million greenskin souls. Did Gazul claim them for his own to strengthen the Glittering Realm, or are they stuck in the world like the souls of necromancers that become wraiths.

Unleash the runesmiths.

Flood the tunnels with molten magma and shoot anything that ain't burning.
