If they can't get through the West Gate (right into our killzone) they'll come in through other ways and cause trouble.
No no, I want them in, I just don't want to use the Eye right away, we let them march and die against the citadel, if the flow is 20 orcs/s then that's a very manageable number, with our massed archers that's, well, that's nothing, thousands of archers with enough ammo could hold on against those numbers until they run out of ammo, that's a hundred thousand casualties easy.

They need to group up or die, and they will realize that soonish, if they decide to mass right outside the west gate that's our perfect battle.

Edit: if you were confused by the "flood the caldera" part, I don't want to literally flood it, just pour enough water to turn the entire floor Into mud and thus multiply the killing field effectivity.

The problem is that there isn't any way to flood the caldera, unless you think bucket chains would be enough. Also there probably isn't anywhere near enough water available

Ok plan:

They think we are dwarfs, so they are willing to run straight to the citadel, big mistake.

1) We open the reservoir and flood the plain, the floor here is pretty much just dust if the situation in this side is the same as in the Eastern valley, so a flood would turn it all into mud.

With a muddy plain, they would slow down a bit, or well, just trip and fall and be crushed, I think a bit of both.

2) we have archers, lots, between the halflings and the besiegers we have around 10k archers, presumably they are all well stocked, since both are fairly precise and the "tide" is actually quite sparse, they can just kill them as they approach, casually.

They can either eat those casualties, presumably for hours until we run out of ammo (2 hours equals around 150k greenskins, and 15 projectiles per Archer, I'm guessing we can do double that easy)

Even with a higher density we still have artillery, marching into the citadel without massing is suicide for them.

Btw, the flood part would be nice, but not vital, if the cistern in Karagril is smaller or not well positioned, we can do it without it.


Tl;dr: Too few orcs are marching in every second to present a believable threat, they have to amass, and once they do we use the Eye.

@BoneyM is the Karagril cistern well positioned and large enough to flood the western approach with some help?

It wouldn't be to get all of them, just enough to add a small bonus to one of the fronts, which should have just a fraction of the total amount.
Maybe they could web up the Karagril entrances. A fraction of 400k and 800k is something like 50k Orcs and 100k Snotlings if we go with an eighth being a reasonable fraction that goes one way.

That is still far to many for We silk to stop them for a meaningful amount of time I think.

All of this discussion ignoring the fact that the We don't get total war or tactical maneuver, as Boney has said multiple times by this point.
 
Assuming a stream of orcs will do the same, clearly futile thing for two hours seems optimistic.
I'd expect others to start looking for other things to do before then? I.e. try their luck on the other mountains.

Nah, orcs remember? They will see an enemy giving them a fight, the response is not to go back and look elsewhere, is to fix the obvious problem, which is too few orcs per second, and fix it, which means wait in front of the gates until more orcs cross and they can all go together.

Also, the 2 hours is just to keep in mind how long we can hold that tide, I expect them to wise up and begin gathering much sooner, at which point we use the Eye.

@BoneyM can we use the We's sticky spider silk to slow the enemies and do it enough to make a difference?

Not so that it would last for more than a minute or two, and it would end up getting shredded as much by friendly fire as it would by greenskin efforts.

No, Karag Zilfin is in the way.
 
The orcs are likely to shatter and seek cover when the doom tower fires. If they split up we can sally out of the citadel and pin them against the other mountains and defeat them in detail. If they try to cross the caldera to reengage, well that puts them back in line for the doom tower.
