Yea Ranalds marks are utter shit compared to Sigmar or for instance Verena. Always sort of looked askance at the skewing there.

Spell wise the only spell I can think to create would be a blurred form during combat. Have Mathilde become difficult to discern during movement so it becomes harder to read her movement. it would fit the Warrior of Fog thing since you are concealing your movement.

-You are learning this so that you can enchant battle magic items and don't intend to actually cast it directly. AP Hell beckons.
--Any spell would do really, though Okkam's Mindrazor has some interesting possibilities, and Steed of Shadows is a pretty great VIP exit/insertion strategy.

AP Hell is something to consider but on the flip side Mathilde's best paper got her 9 College Favour and required multiple past 100 rolls. Battle Magic artefact costs start at 10 and goes up to 18 so the AP drain would be higher to commission items than to simply learn the spells.

That favour comes from AP that can't be used on anything but gaining favour. The AP used to learn spells can instead be used to do any number of things.

Besides it's other disadvantages, learning battle magic requires AP. Enchanted items have the advantage that favor accumulates for essentially free. Any action that wins us favor also has something else going on other than the Favor itself. Even without windfalls though, we just have to wait to buy them.

Also, enchanted items aren't limited to effects from our own winds.

Added. Fog bank spell I'll take a look later myself when I have time.
Fam. Fam. Fam.
I got you.
On that note @BoneyM I have to ask when it comes to theoretical Fog of War spells how impactful would a spell have to be to qualify for Battle Magic status. Like for instance if the Spell was just "Summon Fog Bank" or would it be "Summon Fog Bank that your army can see through without any issue"
You could be able to achieve something similar to a mundane fog bank to cover a significant chunk of a battlefield without reaching the level of Battle Magic, but manipulating the perception of hundreds at a time can be expected to be Battle Magic. But the power level as well as any quirks, limitations or drawbacks of a given spell would depend on rolls made while creating it.
Beastmen are legal, though College Favour is required for higher levels. Chaos Mutants needs dispensation for them.
If we placed an order for Chaos Mutant books, would Mathilde attempt to acquire this dispensation automatically, or is it something we need to acquire onscreen first before we can buy the books?

- constantly attract cats
-more rerolls

These two are also quite good.

That is a fair point in the current situation. Nothing wrong with waiting for a while before learning Battle Magic. Enchanting, power stone creation and getting a staff can very well come first. Right now other than maybe the dragon there's very little urgent need for battle magic but that's not necessarily going to be the case when we go to elf land for example.

I think we could totally get dispensation to study Chaos.

"Well I've already made major contributions against all the other immediate enemies of man, just getting ready to complete the set!"

Then after that we can start working on more distant theats like the Druchii, we've already got a ticket straight to Ulthuan after all and need to find out how to steal Black Dragons.

After that it's just out necromancing a tomb king and befreinding/beating a magic frog and we can start looking east.

(Actually, more seriously for a second, as I understand it this quest is working from an adapted tabletop DnD esque system, how are Slann in that and how would they compare to Mathilde? All I know really about them is from the Lizardmen quest Respect Your Elders where even the least of Slann are demigods at worst equal to the grand patriarch.)

The Slann aren't stated out in the 2e RPG. But they'd basically be magic = yes. They're all multiple thousands of years old, probably know all or most of the spells for every lore of magic that humans can wield and on top of that have the ability to make use of Spells and lores that aren't know about. Mazdamundi for instance can tap into the geomantic web to perform geomancy and has literally rearranged the continents before which basically ruined the Dwarven empire incidentally.

Basically the Slann are as close to magical gods as you can realistically get. Lord Kroak was so powerful when he was slain in battle his soul was able to forcibly reanimate his corpse and keep him in the material realm where he's still able to act and slay the enemies of the lizard men. Also before his death he was slaying greater daemons like hot knife through butter.

Mathilde would need to submit a form explaining the circumstances under which she is encountering chaos mutants and how she expects the restricted books would allow her to better combat them.

[X] Yes, have one social interaction be initiated by someone other than Mathilde.
[X] Check in on your fief in Stirland.
[X] Investigate the aftermath of the Empire's campaigns against the Skaven in Nuln and Ubersreik.
[x] Gretel, who's apparently spending her newly-earned wealth to make herself at home.
[x] Kasmir, to see how he's keeping himself busy in Sylvania.
[X] Anton, to see how his firearm factory is going his search for love is going.
