[ ] Educate the We yourself.
[ ] Hire an open-minded Loremaster from a Young Hold to teach the We. [does not cost an action or your money]
[ ] Hire an Altdorf professor to teach the We. [does not cost an action or your money]
[ ] Hire a Priest of Verena to teach the We. [does not cost an action or your money]
[ ] Hire a Priest of Esmerelda to teach the We. [does not cost an action or your money]
[ ] Hire a Priest of Taal or Rhya to teach the We. [does not cost an action or your money]
Do we have any reason not to do literally all of those?
Shit, we indeed do: we need to keep the fact of spiders shitting genuine silk as hidden as possible.
Right. So not a professor at all.
Loremaster mmmaybe.
Verena priest - maybe.
Taalites - maybe.
Esmerelda - idk about her, are the priests trustworthy?

List of actions re: Karagril and Sylvania is huge. I want to do all of them, but I guess we have to prioritize.
I guess my emphasis would be, in Sylvania, on metaphorically teaching the woman how to fish:

[ ] Sylvania: Teach Stirland's officers the strategies and weaknesses of the Undead.
[ ] Sylvania: Give Roswita's Greatswords a crash course in everything they should already know, and then some more

Give her tools to fight gud, that's a good start.
[ ] Travel through the Underway into Karag Yar, to investigate Clan Eshin.

NO
this is, like, one clan who can legitimately kill Mathilde in the shadow game
she can kill them too, but there's only one Mathilde and indeterminate amount of Esshin assassins

[ ] Establish a weekly meeting for the various Journeymanlings and Ducklings that you've accumulated, so you can keep tabs on what they're up to and assist and intervene as necessary.

Feels outright necessary.

[ ] Enchant an item with a Relatively Simple or easier spell (specify what and which)
Right. Can we get our revolver silenced this way?

I'd advocate skipping research this turn entirely, and doubling down on it next turn. We have not one, but two time-critical situations on our hands.

Yeah, research would probably be helped by not doing a bunch of wartime stuff at the same time, lets clear up some sylvania and karagril stuff, maybe just get the we started too.

@BoneyM what exactly would this fully armed and operational battle mountin be aimed at in the course of a given day?
I think you were trying to talk about the Burning Shadows tower. Which is the Eastern Mountain, so faces into the valley below during morning, nothing at midday, and over Death Pass during the evening.

Eshin'd by QM. Also, I just realized that Kragg's epithet can mean stubborn in Dwarvish.

In the mornings it'd cover the entirety of the eastern valley of Karak Eight Peaks, looking at the map. From noon to sunset it'd start casting over a portion of Death Pass.
Esmerelda - idk about her, are the priests trustworthy?
They're the halfling priests of Hearth and Home (and they have a heavy focus on food; pie week is a religious ceremony, that sort of thing), so yeah, probably. There'd probably be synergy with their existing thoughts, considering Spiders call alliances Many-food, so the halflings might be able to explain the concept of a more-food-when-together-even-though-we're-all-starving.

[X] Tower of Serenity - Perfect temperature, perfect level of background noise, perfect conditions to get those bloody papers written. Or for someone else to do it for you. It even has a rune to keep your drink warm. Every turn, writing or dictating 1 paper costs no actions. 300gc, 3 College favours, 1 Dwarf favour.

[X] [ENCHANTMENT] Banner of Ward Against Abomination for Roswita

Esmerelda - idk about her, are the priests trustworthy?
Very, but they're also not particularly education focused. Unless we plan on teaching the We baking, of course.

[ ] Attempt to interest one of the currently present Runesmiths in the interaction between Runes and Vitae. (Will start at the top and work your way down)
[ ] Call in favours to get a specific Runesmith to examine the interaction between Runes and Vitae with you.
@BoneyM : Would we start with Kragg for the first option, and how much favor would Kragg cost for the second? Also, will Kragg be available in turn 23?

We had multiple quotes on how every necromancer turned evil; because even trying to use dhar through tongs is still using dhar.

You can't sneak past the fundamental truth that using magic/divine energy warps you and that it depends on the energy you channel. Using whatever wind through Ulgu is still using that wind, it will be just as true for theurgy.
There were some more quotes about it, but that's the most condensed of the replies
that's kinda disturbing. He realized he was going mad and tracked it. That also proves that even using dhar "correctly" just means you go mad slowly rather than quickly. The only other vaguely sane necromancer is nasgahs, and honestly, I think with him it's just a case of starting from a point so similar to dhar induced madness it's hard to notice.
Using Dhar directly is a fast road to insanity, but using it once removed like Necromancy does means you're still spending a lot of your time surrounded by and exposed to Dhar.
(on how the above relates to the Belt)

Mathilde would be fine, but everyone around her would still be screwed.

So yes, there is no fundamental truth here. Mathilde herself is completely protected from the detrimental effects of necromancy. (The environment around her, sadly, isn't)

Man, Belegar is such a complete bro. Like, holy shit. Any other leader in his position would be hoarding his assets like mad, but Belegar be like "Nah, I've got this, go help the girl, she needs it".
While it is probably only part of his IC reasoning there is absolutely a sound logic of making sure Stirland is stable enough to actually send aid to K8P when need arises, and give first hand evidence to all the Empire on how superbly K8P rewards those do work when answering a call for it. Because he just gave a bunch of high nobility his philosophy on rewards for aid, and going maximum application of sword to the horrors of Sylvania will allow word of mouth to embellish* the capabilities of his premium tier reward rate.

*It's not like Mathilde would ever tell anyone who isn't very close to her what the runes do, and the Grey Wizard inclination to be mysterious will work wonders here.

Or we can not break the spirit and letter of the law just because we think that we are the one person to do so responsibly.
If you can't trust yourself to use Evil responsibly, who can you trust?

Think about it
But it's not a plane, it's a car. So either your car is free-falling and you have bigger problems, or you have a flying car
And now you know why people succumb to the lure of Dhar.
We've gone more than twenty four hours without an update, obviously. The insanity has begun to set in again.
"It has been more than 24 hours since Divided Loyalties updated, and already my fellow questers have begun to crack. In the dark places of the internet they gibber and mouth strange words out of time. They are madmen, devoid of reason. I alone am sane."
...
"Had to kill and eat TotallyNotEvil today. I could tell that he wanted to sacrifice me to his dark and pagan gods in an effort to bring back the BoneyM, and I had to kill him first. Don't know what I'll tell the others if they ask about him, if any of these degenerate madmen even remember the rule of law from the Before Time.
"Of course, once he was dead I might as well eat him. My supplies of salted peanuts and stroopwaffle has been running low. Surely we shall all starve and die down here, for the light has vanished from our eyes, never to return."
...
"You could just... go outside, man. Lay off the internet for a day or two."
"... Now you just sound crazy."

[ ] Karagril: Spread terror among the greenskins.

An interesting choice, and one we are uniquely well suited for. Just not sure how effective in general it is.

The set up I was going for was two, one of Neutrality+Serenity+Oh Dear for the ability to just walk up or down the stairs to write a paper or take notes on what you just did and Ulgu shrine + Burning Shadows for maximum overburn.

We should get a third floor on the shrine+burning shadows, put a lot of cannons on there, make the tower a flying one and we will have a "home" tower and a "travel" tower.

Few more questions before you're gone:

[ ] Greenskins currently occupy Karagril. Find out what tribe they are and who rules them.
Isn't this covered by the various Karagril votes at the top now?
[ ] Hire an open-minded Loremaster from a Young Hold to teach the We. [does not cost an action or your money]
[ ] Hire an Altdorf professor to teach the We. [does not cost an action or your money]
[ ] Hire a Priest of Verena to teach the We. [does not cost an action or your money]
[ ] Hire a Priest of Esmerelda to teach the We. [does not cost an action or your money]
[ ] Hire a Priest of Taal or Rhya to teach the We. [does not cost an action or your money]
How many of these can we simultaneously take? Could we, in theory, have a whole school with multiple teachers set up there in the following 6 months? If the number is limited by budget, can we bolster it out of our own pocket?
For now we take what cast-offs it will give us and offer it food for more, but keep a record of every inch of it until the day it is able to name its price and then pay it every copper penny that it didn't know to ask for previously."
Not a question, but wow. This is exactly what I was hoping for. As the options were phrased I feared that none covered this. It's part of the reason I ended up not voting for any of the options. So happy I was wrong.

That's about Dhar radiation, not the actual mindset needed to mess with Dhar.
Fiine. I'll dig up the earlier qoutes - but please note, that at the point of discussion I am quoting it was already an established fact and is in fact what random_npc refers to as "using dhar "correctly"", while BoneyM's reply is about the cumulative effects of necromancy.

This is the obvious choice, right? We're not even planning to do any of the stuff the other towers would help with this turn. (Certainly no time to waste enchanting objects, and there's not likely to be an army appearing where we can fry them with burning shadows.) So we might as well get the free paper this turn.

So we're not voting on this yet, but we've been explictly told that a failed We Education action can be retried because the We are patient and the solution is not to throw wizards at it. One of these seems the obvious choice.

It seems like the real question is going to be, do we want to give the We a secular education or do we want them to have a religious education. And if so, what religion?

Have to admit, having them taught by a priestess of Esmerelda would be hilarious.

okay to avoid dhar based madness... what if we used Ulgu, to manipulate Shyish, to manipulate Dhar?

Then we would twice removed from the Dhar!
